Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt 78caba7ae6 Support pen color with color fonts
Color fonts may also contain regular alphabet characters that
should be rendered with the current pen. In Qt, however, these
characters were drawn into the cache with a default pen color
of black.

Since all characters in a font is currently backed by the same cache,
and it would require a lot of plumbing to get around this, a step
in the right direction is to include the current pen color in the
cache as long as it is an RGB cache. This means that drawing
text with the color font with different pen colors will create
different caches.

There is no API to select font color on Freetype currently, but
this problem has also not been observed there, as the fonts
in question, with both regular and color glyphs, are not being
detected as color fonts (so the text color will be correct).
So Freetype will be left out for now.

[ChangeLog][QtGui][Text] Fixed bug where regular text rendered
with a color font would always display in black.

In QRhi..., don't create a static instance of the wrapper class, use a file-
static atomic, too. This turns the class into a glorified namespace.

Simon Hausmann 38cd18384f Fix OpenGL vs. GLESv2 linkage, attempt number three
We introduced WrapOpenGL to link against either desktop GL or GLESv2
depending on the GL feature in QtGui. This works "fine", with two
caveats:

    (1) find_package(WrapOpenGL) must be called after
find_package(Qt5Gui) in order for the feature check in
FindWrapOpenGL.cmake to work. That's error prone.

    (2) More and more places are popping up, in particular examples,
where GL linkage is required due to inline functions in Qt that
forward to GL functions - such as on Android.

This in particular explains the qmake behavior of making the GL
linkage (desktop _or_ GLES) a public dependency of QtGui, so only
    Gui linkage is required.

Those two aspects combined are the nail in the coffin of FindWrapOpenGL
and it would seem much easier to simply make the Desktop GL vs. GLES
decision once in Gui's CMakeLists.txt and let Qt5GuiDependencies.cmake
propagate this well. This allows us to get rid of plenty of special
cases as well.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 34fe9232db Port from QAtomic::load() to loadRelaxed()
Semi-automated, just needed ~20 manual fixes:

$ find \( -iname \*.cpp -or -iname \*.h \) -exec perl -pe 's/(\.|->)load\(\)/$1loadRelaxed\(\)/g' -i \{\} +
$ find \( -iname \*.cpp -or -iname \*.h \) -exec perl -pe 's/(\.|->)store\(/$1storeRelaxed\(/g' -i \{\} +

It can be easily improved (e.g. for store check that there are no commas
after the opening parens). The most common offender is QLibrary::load,
and some code using std::atomic directly.

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt 922d195020 Fix font matching of typographic families on Windows
9204b8c31e broke font matching on Windows.
This was then attempted fixed by bcd2fa484a,
but this caused an infinite recursion for some cases, so it was reverted
again by 9d1905da9c.

The original issue was that if we populate a specific face of a family,
such as "Arial Black", then the typographic/preferred name will be
detected as "Arial" and this family will be set as populated=true, even
though we have not yet registered any additional subfamilies. In this case,
we need to call populateFamily() for the typographic family name to
ensure we get Windows to enumerate all the subfamilies in that family
before it sets it as populated=true.

But this broke for some fonts where the font naming was unconventional.
In particular, "Yu Gothic" would have its Japanese name as the
typographic name, and there would be no font in the system where
the old-style font family name matched the typographic name. In
that case we would go into a loop where we would try populating
"<Japanese font name>", Windows would translate this to "Yu Gothic", we would
translate it back to "<Japanese font name>", ad infinitum.

In order to avoid the infinite recursion, we add a recursion guard
as well, ensuring that we never call populateFamily() for the main
family we are currently populating.

[ChangeLog][Windows][Fonts] Fixed a bug where it would be impossible
to request different faces of a font family after a specific type face
has been in use.

Tor Arne Vestbø 387691498a macOS: Generate UTF-16 clipboard content without BOM
Qt on macOS has traditionally not included a BOM in the UTF-16 data,
but due to iOS requiring it it was changed in 4e196159. This had the
unfortunate side effect of breaking macOS applications that were not
prepared for the BOM, even if the public.utf16-plain-text UTI can have
an optional BOM, most notably Microsoft Excel. It also resulted in the
public.utf8-plain-text having a BOM, as that's automatically generated
by macOS based on the UTF-16 content we give it. Having a BOM in UTF-8
is technically fine, but not required, and recommended against.

The fact that iOS requires a BOM is a bit dubious, and most likely a
result of applications or system frameworks decoding the data using
NSUTF16StringEncoding, which assumes big-ending byte ordering if there
is no BOM, as opposed to public.utf16-plain-text which assumes native
byte ordering. Since we can't fix iOS our best bet is to include a BOM.

For macOS though, we revert back to the old behavior of not including
a BOM, since that seems to surprise macOS frameworks and applications
the least, even if having a BOM in public.utf16-plain-text should be
fully supported.

Longer term we should look at what kind of UTIs we generate. Most apps
on macOS do not generate public.utf16-plain-text, but instead generate
public.utf16-external-plain-text, which differs from the former in that
it assumes big-endian byte-ordering when there's no BOM. On iOS apps
seem to generate public.utf8-plain-text, and do not generate any UTF-16
UTIs. Moving Qt over to these UTIs would fix the problem as well, but
is a larger change that needs more research.

Simon Hausmann d3b10dabf2 Revert "CMake: better GLX detection"
This fixes the build when GLX is available.

In the .pro files as well as the .cpp files the condition of enabling
GLX support is based on the Qt feature system (xlib && opengl &&
!opengles2). The change to replace the !opengles check with a cmake
target check is incomplete for two reasons:

    (1) the target check would _never_ succeed because there was no
find_package() call in scope that would create the target.

    (2) when the target is found, the .cpp code that checks for the
features would fail, because that continues to use the !opengles2
condition -- the preprocessor can't know about cmake targets.

So this reverts commit 1361cf5d50 and
instead calls for an investigation why in Ville's machine desktop gl was
disabled.

Alexandru Croitor 9b0b464e82 Write find_dependency() calls in Qt Module config files
This change introduces a new function called qt_find_package()
which can take an extra option called PROVIDED_TARGETS, which
associates targets with the package that defines those targets.
This is done by setting the INTERFACE_QT_PACKAGE_NAME and
INTERFACE_QT_PACKAGE_VERSION properties on the imported targets.

This information allows us to generate appropriate find_dependency()
calls in a module's Config file for third party libraries.

For example when an application links against QtCore, it should also
link against zlib and atomic libraries. In order to do that, the
library locations first have to be found by CMake. This is achieved by
embedding find_dependency(ZLIB) and find_dependency(Atomic) in
Qt5CoreDependencies.cmake which is included by Qt5CoreConfig.cmake.
The latter is picked up when an application project contains
find_package(Qt5Core), and thus all linking dependencies are resolved.

The information 'which package provides which targets' is contained
in the python json2cmake conversion script. The generated output of
the script contains qt_find_package() calls that represent that
information.

The Qt5CoreDependencies.cmake file and which which dependencies it
contains is generated at the QtPostProcess stop.

Note that for non-static Qt builds, we only need to propagate public
3rd party libraries. For static builds, we need all third party
libraries.

In order for the INTERFACE_QT_PACKAGE_NAME property to be read in any
scope, the targets on which the property is set, have to be GLOBAL.

Also for applications and other modules to find all required third
party libraries, we have to install all our custom Find modules, and
make sure they define INTERFACE IMPORTED libraries, and not just
IMPORTED libraries.

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt bcd2fa484a Fix font matching of typographic families on Windows
9204b8c31e broke font matching on Windows.
After this change, if you request a specific face of a family, such
as "Arial Black", and Qt detects that its typographic/preferred name
is "Arial", then it will be added as the single style of the Arial family,
which will in turn be set as populated=true.

So if you later request a regular font of "Arial" family, then it will
see that the family has already been populated, skip this step, and
then see that there is only one style available, i.e. "Arial Black".

To work around this, we need to make sure the typographic family is
properly populated the first time it is registered.

[ChangeLog][Windows][Fonts] Fixed a bug where it would be impossible
to request different faces of a font family after a specific type face
has been in use.

Gatis Paeglis 2065bc070d platforminputcontexts: use libxkbcommon compose key API
Our implementation of compose table parser was added on Mar, 2013.
libxkbcommon added APIs for the same thing in Oct, 2014 (ver: 0.5.0).
After removing RHEL 6.6 from the list of supported platforms we were
able to move the minimal required libxkbcommon version to 0.5.0. Now
we can use the xkbcommon-compose APIs on all supported platforms.

With this patch we can drop nearly 1000 lines of maintenance burden.
This patch fixes user reported issues with our implementation.

Known issues:

- Testing revealed that xkbcommon-compose does not support non-utf8 locales,
and that is by design - https://github.com/xkbcommon/libxkbcommon/issues/76
Our implementation did work for those locales too, but it is unclear
if anyone actually uses non-utf8 locales. It is a corner case (work-arounds
existing) and likely a configuration error on the users' system.

- Looking at the release notes for versions above 0.6.1, only one issue
that stands out. Compose input does not work on system with tr_TR.UTF-8
locale, fixed in 0.7.1. Compose input works fine when using e.g. en_US.UTF-8
locale with Turkish keyboard layout.

Note:

With Qt 5.13 we have removed Ubuntu 16.04 and openSUSE 42.3 from CI:

Ubuntu 16.04 - 0.5.0
openSUSE 42.3 - 0.6.1

CI for Qt 5.13 has:

Ubuntu 18.04 - 0.8.0
RHEL-7.4 - 0.7.1
openSUSE 15.0 - 0.8.1

Currently the minimal required libxkbcommon version in src/gui/configure.json
is set to 0.5.0, but we could bump it to 0.7.1 to avoid known issues from above,
but that is a decision for a separate patch.

[ChangeLog][plugins][platforminputcontexts] Now using libxkbcommon-compose
APIs for compose key input, instead of Qt's own implementation.

Gatis Paeglis a34e81ab8b platformsupport/input: add xkbcommon utilities lib
xcb/eglfs/wayland - all use XKB keyboard configs and APIs. There
is a lot of duplicated and naturally a diverging code. This patch
adds a helper library to avoid all the mentioned problems and unify
feature set between these platforms.

qlibinputkeyboard:

Added a fixup for 2803cdf758. From
spec: "keysyms, when bound to modifiers, affect the rules [..]",
meaning we can't look at keys in isolation, but have to check if
bounding exists in the keymap. This is done by using
xkb_state_mod_name_is_active() API, but that API has its limitations -
https://github.com/xkbcommon/libxkbcommon/issues/88
I will fix this separately in the LTS (5.12) branch.

We need to read the modifier state before the key action. This
patch fixes a regression introduced by aforementioned patch, which
caused modifiers being reported wrongly in QKeyEvent::modifiers().

qtwayland:

Moved toKeysym(QKeyEvent) from qtwayland repository into this library.
For this and other key mapping functionality wayland was duplicating
the key table. All of that will be removed from qtwayland, and calls
will be replaced to use this lib. Adjusted toKeysym() to fix QTBUG-71301.
Qt keys don't map to ASCII codes, so first we need search in our key
table, instead of mapping from unicode.

lookupStringNoKeysymTransformations():

fixed off-by-one error, where we were including terminating NUL in
QString.

This patch removes a QRegExp include from the QStringList header which
means that there is likely going to be code breaking since QStringList
is used in many places and would get QRegExp in.

With the current distribution, this is 90% of active devices, and

This is to reduce the testing needed on outdated platforms and

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt 3ccdeb4b58 Remove specialized multi font engine on Windows
This was added as a platform-specific implementation of the multi engine
in 2005, before this code was generalized, and it currently only has the purpose
of special handling loadEngine().

The way this was special handled was by creating a new QFontEngine for every
fallback family *every* time, never checking if the font engine already exists
in the cache (like the superclass implementation does). The result of this was
that if you had 500 fonts and each of them had 500 fallback fonts, and made
a loop that would load all of them, then you would get 250000 font engines.
At some point before this, we would run out of available handles and crash.

There shouldn't be any need to have special handling of fallback font loading
on Windows (i.e. all the platform specific parts should go through the normal
mechanisms in QPA), so lets just go through the superclass implementation instead.

[ChangeLog][Windows][Text] Reduced the number of font engines that are
created when loading new fonts, fixing crashes in some special cases where
a large number of fonts are created during a short period of time.

Oswald Buddenhagen 501ff0a18c untangle the egl-x11 relationship in the build system
egl-x11 is used in two places:
- the eglfs-x11 plugin, which has a hard dependency on xcb-xlib
- the xcb-egl plugin, which has a soft dependency on xcb-xlib

that means that the egl-x11 configure test needs to be untangled from
xcb, and that eglfs-x11 should be a separate feature with a proper
dependency declaration.

when the plugins that need egl-x11 are not built, it also makes no sense
to build the respective integration in the egl_support module (even if
it's possible to coax it into building), so adjust things accordingly.

Gatis Paeglis c3a963da1f src/3rdparty: remove xkbcommon
The only reason why we bundled this library ~6 years ago was because
it was not available on distributions that we supported at the time,
but library was a hard dependency for XCB plugin. See:
2122e731ab

Later more and more projects started to depend on it (compose input
context plugin, libinput, mir, wayland). The configuration had become
too complex, because some projects used bundled and some used the
version from the system.

Having libxkbcommon in 3rdparty sources is not necessary anymore, after
RHEL 6.6 was removed from the list of supported platforms for Qt 5.12.

Ubuntu 16.04 - 0.5.0
Ubuntu 18.04 - 0.8.0
openSUSE 42.3 - 0.6.1
RHEL-7.4 - 0.7.1

This will also simplify further development, e.g. QTBUG-42181

Bumped the minimal required version 0.4.1 -> 0.5.0.

The patch also contains a code marked with "TRANSITION HACK", which
is temporary needed so we can update the dependent wayland module.

[ChangeLog][Third-Party Code] Removed xkbcommon from bundled sources.
This library is present on all supported platforms. The minimal required
version now is 0.5.0.

The setting is not relevant for modern macOS applications, and none of
the applications shipped with macOS today are affected by it.

The only code path in macOS that picks it up is +[NSFont initialize] in
the UIFoundation framework, storing it for later so that -[NSFont screenFont]
and -[NSFont screenFontWithRenderingMode:] can use it, but these APIs are
deprecated and we don't use them in Qt.

Other NSFont code paths will not hit these APIs unless screen font
substitution is enabled, something it hasn't been since OSX 10.7.

Removing handling of this setting allows us to simplify the reasoning
for whether or not antialiasing and font smoothing is enabled for a given
engine.

The function doesn't need the flags argument, nor does it need the
ctfont or fontdef arguments if it's a normal const member function.

It can also be used from QCoreTextFontEngine::stringToCMap(), instead
of duplicating the code. This was originally the case before b4aa5d97
which improved surrogate pair handling, but for some reason the change
introduced the duplicate code instead of just changing the arguments
in the function call slightly.

The use of 0xff000000 to skip certain glyphs looks dubious, and is
probably related to QFontEngineMulti's use of the high byte to
indicate which engine the glyph came from, but the multi engine
strips this away before calling out to the concrete engine so
it could potentially be removed in a later patch.

Gatis Paeglis 3af4b59e8b glib dispatcher: rework userEventSourcePrepare() event source
This is a better solution for fbb485d4f6.

The existing solution was working fine, but it was exposing logic that is
internal to QWindowSystemInterface and platform plugin interaction. Some
platform plugins do event filtering at native event level - those that
support QAbstractEventDispatcher::filterNativeEvent(). Other plugins rely
on QWindowSystemInterface to do the filtering. Dispatchers should not care
about this.

The new logic rely on the fact that QWindowSystemInterfacePrivate::handleWindowSystemEvent
calls QAbstractEventDispatcher::wakeUp(). The same way postEventSourcePrepare()
rely on QCoreApplication::postEvent() to call QAbstractEventDispatcher::wakeUp().

Event sources run in the order they are attached, postEventSourcePrepare runs
before userEventSourcePrepare(). We rely on that order to pass wakeUpCalled
value.

Gatis Paeglis 8315acfb16 Revert "glib dispatcher: ensure all window system events are flushed"
This reverts commit 341bfcd1ea.

As it turns out there might be use cases where we want to have proper
windowing system event integration with glib dispatcher via g_source_attach().
For example with gtk_dialog_run, where GTK blocks in a recursive main loop.
We want to continue dispatcing our windowing system events during this nested
event loop. Not having a proper glib integration can result in rendering issues,
e.g. when resizing parent window via mouse while GTK-based dialog is shown. Can
be seen on examples/widgets/richtext/textedit/ -> Format (from menu) -> "Color..."

The issue from 341bfcd1ea actually should be fixed inside XCB platform plugin,
by improving integration with event dispatcher. That is handled in follow-up patches.

On later versions of macOS, the font weight trait of fonts is a 64 bit
double, not a 32 bit float, and on macOS 10.14, CFNumberGetValue()
started returning false for values when the type conversion is lossy,
like it is documented to. Therefore, we would end up without weight
information in 10.14.

The fix is to ask for a double instead, which works regardless of
whether the CFNumber represents a 32-bit or 64-bit value.

macOS 10.14 uses a new font smoothing algorithm that takes the fill color into
account. This means our default approach of drawing white on black to produce
the alpha map will result in non-native looking text when then drawn as black
on white during the final blit. As a workaround we use the application's current
appearance to decide whether to draw with white or black fill, and then invert
the glyph image in the latter case, producing an alpha map. This covers the
most common use-cases, but longer term we should propagate the fill color all
the way from the paint engine, and include it in the key for the glyph cache.

At the moment we do not react to changes in the application appearance,
as that seems to be buggy in general in Qt (palette/style, e.g.), and those
bugs need to be weeded before we can react to the theme change with confidence.

The code was quite dubious, in the edid data, the manufacturer is
encoded with a three letter shortcut. In addition it can be set by the
extra data strings, which is not often the case. We would randomly

Also looking up the manufacturer string twice is pointless (contains and

Christian Muehlhaeuser 9e15a93b89 Fix mouse-wheel handling for evdev devices with extended values
Newer mouse devices support a so-called "free-scroll" mode, which
unlocks the wheel and allows for faster scrolling. For such input
devices, evdev will report an event value greater than 1, when free
scrolling is active. Examples for such devices would be the Logitech
G700 or MX Master series.

However QEvdevMouseHandler interpreted such an event's data incorrectly
and triggered wheel events for the opposite scrolling direction. This
also often resulted in jittery & jumpy scrolling, when the events'
values alternated between 1 and 2.

Lionel CHAZALLON ddfd744d83 eglfs/kms: Add framebuffer scaling ability with KMS atomic
This commit will add the possibility to have a different sizes between
framebuffer and videomode using DRM atomic, which is not possible with
DRM legacy.

The main goal of this change is to allow to get decent performance on
embedded devices which can support high resolution display (ie UHD),
and which don't have a GPU able to achieve decent framerate in such
resolutions.

This patch adds a "size" member to the output configuration in KMS
configuration file. The GBM framebuffer will be created with that
size and the GBM screen will report that size so that EGLFS can do
everything normally.

Scaling planes with different size than the video mode size is not
something supported consistently with DRM legacy, so that feature
will be only available when using the DRM atomic API.

This was tested on Rock64 device, both with drm legacy and atomic.

Lionel CHAZALLON 56149c0fbb eglfs/kms: Add DRM/KMS atomic support
This commit adds support for DRM atomic to qtbase eglfs/KMS QPA when
libdrm and device supports it.

Compared To legacy DRM API, atomic API allows to update multiple planes
in one vsync. This is the first part of some work that should follow
and allow:
- DRM framebuffer upscaling for embedded devices that have weaker GPUs
- Sharing the drm atomic request if the KMSDevice so that applications
in userland can blend content on overlay in the same vsync loop.

One of the application for DRM atomic and Qt is typically videoplayer
integration at high resolutions (UHD) on embedded devices which cannot
use their GPU to render such videos, but are able to render it to a drm
overlay.

Marco Trevisan (Treviño) ff169e8859 dbustray: add NewMenu signal and emit it when menu changed
This is a signal that is not actually supported by the
StatusNotificationIcon standard, but it comes to be important
for the Qt implementation of it, in fact qt apps might
not have a menu, when exporting the Menu path as /NO_DBUSMENU
or they could add this later in the execution.
So, currently there's no way for the StatusNotificationWatcher
to know when a menu has been added (or changed).

Adding a NewMenu signal won't cause any troubles, but will
allow watchers to be notified properly on menu addition.

Tor Arne Vestbø efd5d7a837 CoreText: Make sure to keep reference to data when cloning raw font engine
QFontEngine::cloneWithSize() is used by QRawFont internally when switching
a raw-font from one size to another using setPixelSize. For CoreText, we
use a subclass of QCoreTextFontEngine to keep track of the QByteArray data
of a raw-font, but failed to overload cloneWithSize, so we would lose the
data whenever setPixelSize was called, resulting in missing text rendering
in QtWebKit. We now retain the data as we should.
