Morten Johan Sørvig 08733dff58 wasm: use “specialHtmlTargets” for canvas lookup
We’d like to support use cases which require using
multiple html documents, for example when displaying
application content using more than one browser window.

Normally Emscripten uses the primary html document when
looking up elements by id, which means that targeting
elements on secondary documents is not possible.

Emscripten does provide a workaround: the application
can create custom id mappings to any html element on
the “specialHtmlTargets” object, and then use the
“!id” syntax instead of normal “#id” lookup.

Marc Mutz 4bc85b9850 QBuffer: fail early in seek() beyond QByteArray's max capacity
On 32-bit platforms, the range of qsizetype is smaller than the range
of the qint64 used as a parameter in seek().

When seek()ing beyond the current buffer's size, the old code relied
on a write() to fill the gap with NUL bytes. This has two problems:

First, this may allocate a huge amount of memory just to find that it
cannot write that much, possibly even taking the program down when the
allocation in the QByteArray ctor fails, instead of returning false from
seek().

Second, the QByteArray ctor to which we pass the gapSize only takes
qsizetype, not qint64, so we were writing data of size gapSize mod
(INT_MAX+1) on 32-bit platforms, which may succeed, just to find that
that wasn't the number of bytes we expected to be written. By that
time, however, the internal buffer has already been enlarged.

Fix by checking whether the desired seek position is within the limits
that QByteArray can contain early on, before attempting to construct
such a large QByteArray.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QBuffer] Fixed silent data corruption on 32-bit
platforms when seek() fails due to position > INT_MAX.

Edward Welbourne 7db6aa4395 Fix overflow issue discovered by MSVC in C++20 mode
In setMSecsSinceEpoch(), when epochMSecsToLocalTime() fails (e.g. when
msecs is near one end of time and the offset being added causes
overflow), the call to setDateTime(d, ...) is bypassed so the d-ptr is
not updated and getStatus(d) returns the status prior to the function
call. The new status being prepared by the function should thus not be
updated to getStatus(d) unless setDateTime(d, ...) was called.

Andreas Buhr edf9b23145 Extend androidtestrunner default timeout to 8 minutes
qmake had a feature to set androidtestrunner's timeout. This
feature is not yet ported to CMake. So with CMake, we always
have androidtestrunner's default timeout. Which was
five minutes. We have several tests which take just shy of five
minutes and are thus flaky.
This patch extends the timeout to eight minutes. This should be
a temporary workaround until the timeout feature is implemented
in CMake.

Laszlo Agocs a5db072dc2 rhi: Add explicit subclass for RTs from swapchains
We want to enable gaining access to the underlying resource(s) by
inspecting a QRhiRenderTarget. This is not currently possible for
swapchains since there is nothing that references the actual
QRhiSwapChain. To clean this up, make an explicit, new
QRhiSwapChainRenderTarget subclass. Thus the logic already used in a
couple of places to examine the resources attached to a
QRhiTextureRenderTarget can now work with swapchain render targets too,
by branching based on the resourceType().

This eliminates the somewhat odd setup where a "RenderTarget" resource
is QRhiRenderTarget corresponding (but not exposing!) a swapchain,
whereas a "TextureRenderTarget" is a QRhiTextureRenderTarget which
is a subclass of QRhiRenderTarget. Now we correctly have an (abstract)
base and two subclasses, one for each type of render targets.

Besides, it allows us to clean up the oddly named
Q...ReferenceRenderTarget classes in the backends, which initially tried
to indicate that this "render target" merely references (or, in
practice, is) a swapchain. We can now have a nice and symmetrical
Q...SwapChainRenderTarget and Q...TextureRenderTarget naming scheme.

Marc Mutz a6657bef40 QPropertyBindingSourceLocation: fix BiC in source_location ctors
Since the class is exported, both ctors from source_location (std and
experimental) need to be in the DLL, otherwise a Qt built with C++20
(using std::source_location) may break C++17 users that, however, have
experimental::source_location (and therefore expect the DLL to export
it).

This is exactly the same issue we had with QPolygon and
QVector::begin() with and w/o QT_STRICT_ITERTORS, therefore the same
fix applies, with the difference that we don't need a separate TU here
to inject the missing symbols, because both versions can be
overloaded.

This is part of a series of patches deprecating implicit conversions
of QAtomic<T> variables to T.

Use relaxed atomic loads and stores on the 'isDebugging' variable. The
old code used the implict conversions to and from int and therefore
loadAcquire/storeRelease. Here, the int is the only value, it's not
guarding the construction of any other data, so relaxed loads and
stores suffice.

A further optimization would be to make the initial value of
isDebugging 0, to send it into the BSS instead of the TEXT/DATA
segment, but seeing as this is just compiled in for the auto-tests,
this patch leaves that particular change for another round (or never).

Same ole trick[1] as usual: Instead of an array of pointers (causing

[1] http://library.bagrintsev.me/CPP/dsohowto.pdf, Section 2.4.3.

As for storage requirements: We pay a few bytes per entry for extra
padding, as not all entries have length seven, but we save the
per-entry pointer variable, so sizeof(void*) bytes per entry, too, so
on 64-bit, at least, we're guaranteed to come out ahead.

Needed to replace nullptrs with empty strings here, and adjust the

Tor Arne Vestbø 919f514f29 macOS: Don't scroll individual rects of a region when inline scrolling
The QPlatformBackingStore::scroll() API takes a QRegion as input, and we
kept this data type in the implementation of QCALayerBackingStore::scroll
for the logic of figuring out whether we could use the existing back
buffer as source of the scroll or if we needed to pull data from the
front buffer.

We then iterated the rects of the resulting in-line region, and called
qt_scrollRectInImage for each of them. This will unfortunately not work
whenever the scroll of one of these rects ends up overwriting parts of
the back buffer that later rects of the region use as their source rect.

This could be reproduced by moving the cursor within a text document,
which would dirty a small area around the cursor, making the subsequent
scroll of the viewport result in garbled text.

This issue exists in the other platform backingstore implementations
too, but since the QWidgetRepaintManager never calls scroll() with
anything but a single rect they would not have any issues.

The problem could potentially be solved by sorting the rects before
blitting them, but now this quick fix solves the regression on macOS.

Android internally cannot handle versioned shared libraries.
There is no explicit rule for that, but indirect signs point to this.
This adds an explicit error to androiddeployqt to give the clear

versioned library was used when linking Qt libraries.

E.g. when linking Qt with liba.so it might be symlink to liba.so.1.0
This means that liba.so.1.0 Qt will require liba.so.1.0 at runtime.
But since Android doesn't handle versioned shared libraries,
liba.so.1.0 will never be packaged correctly. Most build systems
support generating of versionless shared libraries, and this should
be used when building 3rdparty libraries for Android.

support granular management (removal) of fonts, we need to invalidate
the entire font database.

Since the theme fonts on macOS (and iOS) are managed by the font
database we also need to invalidate the theme fonts, and report this
back to the application.

Tor Arne Vestbø c7280b3362 CoreText: Populate all variants of theme/system fonts
We populate the various QPlatformTheme::Fonts by asking the system for
the preferred font for each use-case, but that just gives us a single
font descriptor with a single style and weight. If the user then tweaks
the font by e.g. making it bold or italic, our font database will not
have any knowledge of these variants, and will fall back to another
font.

To fix this we ask CoreText for all variants of each of the theme fonts,
so that each of the theme font families are fully populated.

The preferred way to do this on macOS 10.15/iOS 13 and above is by using
the font's UI design trait. This avoids asking CoreText for private
fonts by family name directly, which is not supported and may result
in giving us Times or another fallback font instead.

Edward Welbourne 784f5d76b9 TAP test logger: report B?XFAIL (mostly) as a message
Previously, only the first B?XFAIL would be reported, all others would
be discarded. Furthermore, if a B?XFAIL had happened, B?PASS was also
not reported, since the B?XFAIL served as test line. However, if the
B?XFAIL was followed by a SKIP, B?XPASS or B?FAIL, these were reported
as normal, producing exactly the kind of duplicated test line that the
skipping of B?PASS was meant to supply.

So change B?XFAIL to be reported among the messages, but retain the
TODO annotation of the first on the test line of a subsequent B?PASS,
if nothing more drastic happens in the mean time. So now more than one
B?XFAIL can be reported, the test is still marked as a TODO and we
don't get duplicate test lines for a subsequent non-passing result.

This replaces the bool m_wasExpectedFail member with a QTestCharBuffer
m_firstExpectedFail that records the first XFAIL's TODO line (so its
isEmpty() fully replaces m_wasExpectedFail).

Previously, the at/file/line information for a B?XFail would be
supplied as top-level keys in the YAML block for a "Pass" reported as
not ok due to the XFail, as this location information is now part of
the B?XFail's message in the extensions/messages block. Duplicating
the first B?XFail's location at top level would add complexity and is
arguably misleading, as the test result is really a pass (after
ignoring known issues), and the location of the pass is indeterminate
(nominally the end of the test function, but actually also after the
cleanup() call for this test, when relevant), which is why a Pass has
no location information.

Laszlo Agocs 2ca50df11c Fix up some QMatrix4x4 docs
The deprecation note for one of the operator* is wrong: Using
mapVector() is never the right choice given the deprecated operator*
itself is implemented by calling map(). It could be that in some cases
the results are identical so one can get away with migrating to
mapVector(), but this is incorrect in other cases and causes
regressions all over the place. Thus we should only recommend using
map() instead, never mapVector(). As shown by recent experiences, the
current docs are insufficient/wrong and caused a number of regressions
in the Qt code base as well.

Also enhance some related docs. It could be that the wording is not
always academically correct, however having some additional notes in
there help make it obvious to the reader (or at least raise some
alarms) that there are important differences between map and
mapVector.

Also improve the note for the other deprecated operator*. There is
only one way to convert to a vec4, given the existing implementation
of the operator, and that is by using 1 for w. Make this clear to the
reader.

We maintain state:

  - QHighDpiScaling::m_active, which is set to true

scale factor > 1, in updateHighDpiScaling()
  - QScreen::m_geometry, which is assigned the scaled
    screen size in QScreenPrivate::updateHighDpi()

Now the problem is that updateHighDpiScaling() requires
an up-to date screens list, and that updateHighDpi()
requires an up-to date m_active, and that currently
updateHighDpi() is called when constructing the QScreen
only.

This is all a bit unsatisfactory, but for now fix this
in the simplest way by adding a second call to

to updateHighDpiScaling().

Edward Welbourne ae37fa0464 TAP test logger: move messages into the diagnostics block
Our TAP output was delivering messages as comments before the test
line, where TAP clearly expects the details of a test to follow its
test line. Version 13 provides a YAML block to deliver diagnostics and
encourages use of this, so accumulate our messages in a
QTestCharBuffer instead of emitting them one by one.

However, messages produced after a test has produced its test line
belong to that test, but are too late to be included in its
diagnostics block, so should be emitted immediately as before, albeit
now with a type prefix. This at least separates such messages, from
the end of one test, from messages produced early in the next.

In the process, add a type-prefix to each, to make clear what type of
message it was. Since the Yamlish supported by TAP consumers doesn't
support a way to have many messages, use the extensions: top-level
hash tag with a messages: sub-tag to gather our messages as a list.
(This expands at least one expected output file significantly and
substantially rewrites some others.)

Add methods to QTestCharBuffer, and a helper function, to support this.

Edward Welbourne d9602efe88 Fix QIcuTimeZonePrivate::hasDaylightTime() to catch historical DST
QTimeZone::hasDaylightTime() is documented to return true if a zone
has ever dabbled in DST, but the ICU implementation was only detecting
whether the zone currently engages in it. When the transitions API is
available (currently for version == 50; will soon change to >= 50),
use it to find out whether DST was ever in effect.

ICU's search for next transition, when the result would lie later than
is representable by qint64, returns the last transition before the

traverse transitions forward. Recognize when this happens and return

Volker Hilsheimer 71b3d18ea7 Notify about focus object changes upon widget destruction
If the active QWidget gets destroyed, then QWidgetWindow::focusObject
will return nullptr. If then no other object takes focus, then we'd
never emit change signals, and QGuiApplication's _q_updateFocusObject
(which then informs the input context and emits signals) didn't get
called. This left the input context with a dangling focus object
pointer, which resulted in crashes.

If the QWidget clears its focus, but the corresponding window doesn't
know that it had focus, then fall back to the widget's focus widget
to see if we have a change in focus, so that signals get emitted.

Add a test case that shows that we didn't call _q_updateFocusObject
by counting emissions of the QGuiApplication::focusObjectChanged
signal, which we emit in this function. The signal is emitted more
than once both when showing a widget, and now also when destroying
a widget that has a focus child. The former is a previous issue,
the latter is an improvement to not emitting the signal at all.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 6880b7c39b Itemviews: start fixing mixups of int/enum for Qt's item roles
A model is supposed to return a Qt::CheckState for a CheckStateRole,
and a Qt::Alignment for a Qt::TextAlignmentRole. This is what the
documentation says (and what makes sense), but unfortunately
Qt's default delegate expected a plain `int` instead.
This sometimes worked (via QVariant conversions, e.g. when using a plain
enum) and sometimes didn't (e.g. when using a flag type).

This is confusing for end-users (and type unsafe, killing the whole
point of using enums and flags in the first place).

Adding some automatic flags<->int conversions through QVariant is
frowned upon, so I don't want to go there. Instead, add some private
convenience functions that extract either the right type from a variant,
or try to extract an `int` and convert it to the expected type.

Use these from within itemviews code.

Marc Mutz 4cf299eb5b QSettings: port API from QString to QAnyStringView keys
With the public interface ported to QAnyStringView, we can now
internally optimize memory allocations _in a central place_ (e.g. by
returning std::u16string or QVarLengthArray<QChar> from normalizeKey()
instead of QString). But first we needed to get rid of all the
unwarranted allocations in user code.

Effects on Linux AMD64 stripped C++20 release builds:

GCC 11.2 libstdc++ (TEXT -= 6.5%):

text data bss dec hex filename
   635148 10992 2824 648964 9e704 tst_qsettings-01-baseline

Clang 10.0.0 libc++ (TEXT -= 11.6%(!)):

text data bss dec hex filename

   698572 10640 2832 712044 add6c tst_qsettings-02-qanystringview

That's the beauty of QAnyStringView: transparently reducing temporary
QString creation; and the simplest code is also the most efficient.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QSettings] Keys can now be passed as

Volker Hilsheimer 4ac00ca901 QTabBar: let styles draw tab text with foreground role
QTabBar::setTabTextColor's documentation and implementation suggests
that the set color will always be used unless invalid, and that the
foreground role is used otherwise. QTabBar then sets the foregroundRole
palette entry to the specified color before calling the style. The intent
is evidently that the tabTextColor is used no matter the foregroundRole
(which by default is the role that contrasts with the background role).

If the styles always paint the text with WindowText, then the tabTextColor
gets ignored if the foregroundRole is not WindowText (perhaps because
the backgroundRole is set to Base).

Fix this by respecting the widget's foregroundRole when painting the tab
label in the common style (which is the only style that implements
drawControl for CE_TabBarTabLabel). QMacStyle and QStyleSheetStyle
need to be adjusted to prepare the palette consistently with the logic
in QTabBar.

Rafael Roquetto d15ef5bc3a QNX: always create buffers for child windows
The QNX raster backend worked on the assumption that child windows were
sharing their parent toplevel window buffer instead, and thus did not
have a buffer of their own. This piece of code dates back from the
BlackBerry days, and I am guessing the motivation was to tackle
mmrenderer/foreign windows.

In fact, not having buffers causes QWindow to malfunction, as
independent buffers are required.

This patch makes sure every QQnxWindow has a backing buffer, as
expected. Foreign widnows shall be dealt with via different means.

Marc Mutz 6ec1dc904d QSettings: port key processing to QAnyStringView
... in preparation for replacing the QString keys in the public API
with QAnyStringView ones.

This removes the "important optimization" that avoids a detach in the
common case where the input is the same as the output of
normalization. But that optimization is beside the point, because it
trades a memory allocation avoided in the library for O(N) allocations
inserted into user code for each call to QSettings::value(), the vast
majority of which are calls with string literals.

With the public interface ported to QAnyStringView in the follow-up
patch, we can then internally optimize memory allocations _in a central
place_ (e.g. by returning std::u16string or QVarLengthArray<QChar> from
normalizeKey() instead of QString). But first we need to get rid of all
the unwarranted allocations in user code.

This allows to unblacklist tst_QPlainTextEdit::copyAvailable().

Marc Mutz 9985cc330a uic: use C string literals for setObjectName()
Because setObjectName() now takes a QAnyStringView, passing C string
literals is much more efficient than using QString::fromUtf8().

This patch only deals with setObjectName() as a known property,
probably from a name attribute. If the objectName property is set by a
<property> element (or so I assume), we still emit a
QString::fromUtf8(). Detecting objectName there would be too much
magic.

Besides, I haven't been able to find why sometimes there's a second
setObjectName call right after the first, when in the XML it seems all
kosher (name attribute and objectName <property> agreeing on the
content).

Giuseppe D'Angelo 1b14569753 QMutexLocker: strenghten the locking operations
There is no reason to allow relock() on a locked locker, or unlock()
or an unlocked one, just like we don't allow that on a plain mutex
to begin with. The docs already said that e.g. relock() locks an
_unlocked_ locker.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QMutexLocker] QMutexLocker allowed relock() and
unlock() on an already closed (resp. open) locker object. These
semantics have always been undocumented and are now unsupported
(in both cases they yield undefined behavior.)

Edward Welbourne e10d613509 Add QByteArray::percentDecoded() as an instance method
Percent-decoding was previously only present as a static method taking
a QBA parameter; it might as well be an instance method of that
parameter. Change most QBA tests to use it rather the static method.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QByteArray] percentDecoded() is now available as
an instance method of the byte array to be decoded, equivalent to the
static QByteArray::fromPercentEncoding().
