CMake doesn't support removing subdirectories therefore one need to
convert all removal to conditional adds. The resulting code doesn't
win a beauty contest. That is because handle_subdir works on already
processed strings which means it doesn't have access to the boolean
operations. As such it can not minimize the expressions, but it works
and in the most simple cases it is pretty good.

Windows has a problem relating to cross-DLL variable relocations: they
are not supported. Since QMetaObject's link to the parent class is done
via a pointer, every QMetaObject in a DLL or in the EXE that derives
from a class from another DLL (such as QObject) will be dynamically
initialized.
This commit changes the meta object pointers in QMetaObject::d from raw
pointers to a wrapper class SuperData, which is almost entirely source-
compatible with the pointer itself. On all systems except for Windows
with Qt 6, it's binary compatible with the current implementation.
But for Windows with Qt 6, this commit will store both the raw pointer
and a pointer to a function that returns the QMetaObject, with one of
them non-null only. For all meta objects constructed by moc, we store
the function pointer, which allows the staticMetaObject to be statically
intialized. For dynamic meta objects (QMetaObjectBuilder, QtDBus, QtQml,
ActiveQt), we'll store the actual raw pointer.
[ChangeLog][QtCore][QMetaObject] Some internal members of the
QMetaObject class have changed types. Those members are not public API
and thus should not cause source incompatibilities.

QTimer::singleShot is optimized for zero timeouts when using the API
taking a string method name. This optimization was not used for the API
taking a PMF or functor. This patch adds it, making the various API
calls behave similarly from a performance point of view.
The approach taken here requires a QObject context object. If none is
available, e.g. a nullptr was passed explicitly, or the
QTimer::singleShot(O, Functor) API was used, the optimization could
not easily be applied. This is not only bad from a performance POV,
but also poses as a potential source for heisenbugs: Using the
different API versions of QTimer::singleShot would use different code
paths internally, which then would not ensure the expected slot call
order. This problem actually existed already when mixing the
string-based slot syntax with PMF/functors in the QTimer::singleShot
API.
This patch overcomes this hurdle and fixes all of the above: When we
encounter a 0ms single shot timer, and no QObject context object is
available, we fall back to the main thread, or create a temporary
QObject for any other thread. The updated and extended benchmark
shows that this is still a significant performance improvement
over using a timer:

This checks that intenalHwnd in QEventDispatcherWin32::remainingTime is
initialized. If calling remaningTime, before createInternalHwnd
is called, the timeout member in the WinTimerInfo struct is not
initialized and contains a random value. This adds a check for that and
in that case returns the requested timer interval as the timer has not
yet been started. createInternalHwnd is called on the first request to
process events.
It also adds a test for checking the remaining time. But the issue can
only be seen if solely running the remainingTimeInitial test in
tst_QTimer. If running the test along side another test the other
test likely calls processEvents indirectly, which hides the issue. I
don't know if this is an issue in practice (the bug has been there
for as long a the git history goes back, 2011), but it causes the

The bitmap cache for the first 64 signals being connected was only set when the
connection is added. It was never unset when the connection was removed.
Internal use of the connectedSignals bitmap is not hurt by it occasionally
saying a signal is connected even though it is not, since the purpose of those
checks is avoiding expensive operations that are not necessary if nothing is
connected to the signal.
However, the public API using this cache meant that it also never spotted
signals being disconnected. This was not documented. Fix the behavior by only
using the cache if it is up to date. If it is not, use a slower path that gives
the correct answer.
To avoid making disconnections and QObject destructions slower, the cache is
only updated to unset disconnected signals when new signal connections are
added. No extra work is done in the common case where signals are only
removed in the end of the QObject's lifetime.

not work for shadow builds, as QFINDTESTDATA would not find that dir. By

The second problem was that not putting executables into debug/release

example, it was possible that the debug manifest (Manifest files are
always created next to the target) is written last and thus contains

Many subclasses of QIODevice have a functionality to block execution
until some asynchronous I/O operation completes. In case we are using
QWinEventNotifier, a typical reimplemented waitFor{ReadyRead
|BytesWritten}() function could look like:
if (WaitForSingleObject(notifier.handle(),...) == WAIT_OBJECT_0) {
notifier.setEnabled(false);
ResetEvent(notifier.handle());
bool res = GetOverlappedResult(...);
...
return true;
}
Despite the fact that the operation ends synchronously, it leaves the
notifier in a state that indicates it has received the event, so its
next call to setEnabled(true) will produce a fake notification.
So, we should reset a notifier's history before enabling it again.

There are a couple of Qt classes where you almost always use the
same signal, for example QTimer::timeout, QPushButton::clicked,

Simply doing timer.connectTo([]{}) is much more convenient, less
tedious and even fun.
Not overloading connect() as it would be confusing to see the
receiver as first argument.
And not naming it onTimeout, as that's a popular way of doing it in
other frameworks. People would assume you could use on* with any signal.
If we ever have on* it should be all or nothing.

The Q_GADGET macro cannot be used in templates. It can however be useful
to derive a template class from a Q_GADGET enabled base class to benefit
from type safety features in C++ (e.g. the class could represent an id
or handle for some C++ type).
For proper wrapping of a QVariant with a gadget value in a QJSValue, the
QMetaType::IsGadget flag must be set for the registered template
instance type - which does not happen prior to the fix because
IsGadgetHelper requires qt_check_for_QGADGET_macro to be defined in the
registered class but not in an ancestor class - in other words: The
class must declare Q_GADGET.
To overcome this, IsGadgetHelper/IsPointerToGadgetHelper can now
differentiate between a Q_GADGET flagged class (allowing
automatic registration) and a derived class, e.g. a template class
(forcing Q_DECLARE_METATYPE to be used explicitly).
[ChangeLog][QtCore][QMetaObject] It is now possible to use template
class instances inheriting from a Q_GADGET in Qml

This test sets up two timers:
- a 100ms recurring timer
- a series of 10 200ms single-shot timers.
After quitLock lets exec() return it then uses a signal
spy to check if the 100ms timer fired at least 17/20
of the times it should.
However there is no guarantee that the 100ms timer
will fire more often than the 200ms timer. If the
native timer callbacks happen at 500ms intervals then
Qt will fire both timers (once) at that interval.
In practice this seems to happen on macOS CI under
system load and/or with the test app napping.
The primary goal for the test is to verify that exec()
returns when it should; we can remove the timer signal
spy.

QWinEventNotifiers were limited to 62 instances, because of
WaitForMultipleObject's limitation to MAXIMUM_WAIT_OBJECTS - 1 handles.
Use the RegisterWaitForSingleObject API which does not have this
restriction and executes waits in threads managed by the system. A
central manual reset event per event dispatcher is signaled in the
RegisterWaitForSingleObject callback and waited for in the event loop.

This test verifies processEvents(WaitForMoreEvents)
behavior by first processing all pending events (in
a loop) and then verifying that a following processEvents
call actually waits.
But there is no guarantee that the OS won’t introduce
more events after the first loop has completed. This
does indeed seem to happen on recent versions of macOS.
Change the test to not require that the processEvents
call blocked and de-blacklist.
