Alexander Volkov 24adaa9a74 xcb: Fix access to shm for X server running from another user
Use ShmCreateSegment call, that was added in MIT-SHM 1.2, to
create shared memory segments on the server side. It returns
a POSIX shared memory object that is used to mmap memory.
It's in effect a file descriptor that is passed through the
X server socket and thus avoids permission checks.
On the other hand this scheme is more secure, because the
file descriptor, and thus the shared memory, are accessible
only by the X server and the application.

Andy Shaw 6c6ace9d23 psql: Improve performance of record()
In order to save having to always run a query to get the tablename for
a known oid then we cache the result on the driver side. The oid stays
the same while the table exists, so only on dropping it would it change.
Recreating the table causes it to get a new oid, so there is no risk of
the old one being associated with the wrong table when this happens, if
the driver is still open at that point.

The benchmark added shows the improvement from the previous code, before
the results for PostgreSQL was:

RESULT : tst_QSqlRecord::benchmarkRecord():"0_QPSQL@localhost":
259 msecs per iteration (total: 259, iterations: 1)

whereas now it is:

RESULT : tst_QSqlRecord::benchmarkRecord():"0_QPSQL@localhost":
0.000014 msecs per iteration (total: 59, iterations: 4194304)

Richard Moe Gustavsen 75c22d4598 QCocoaWindow: be more careful when flushing events
Flushing the QPA event queue is problematic since we can then end up
delivering several events to Qt (or the app) at the same time on the
call stack. This again can easily leave objects in an inconsistent
state if they receive callbacks from subsequent events while being
occupied processing the first.

This is also what happens in the listed report. A QMenu shows
a sub menu when the mouse enters a menu item. The show leads to
QPA flushing events, which in some cases also includes flushing
another pending move event. The move event is delivered to the
same QMenu, which will clear a private variable (currentAction).
When the show returns, the state of QMenu has unexpectedly
changed, which causes a crash to happen since currentAction is
null.

This patch will fix the root cause of the problem by
stopping QCocoaWindow from flushing user input events when
the call location does a flush to deliver geometry events.

Bonus changes in this edition:

    * The focus frame shows only around the spin-box's
line-edit, as it should. This requires getting
access to the spin-box's line-edit, which we do
by setting a property on the former. Notice that
the stepper doesn't get focus. On this point,
macOS is inconsistent (partly because there's no
such thing as an NSSpinBox, and partly because
spin-box buttons are a separate control), so we
copy the same focus behavior as NSDatePicker.

    * We clean some QFocusFrame related dead code in
      QMacStyle::event().

Dominik Haumann 1f0c228448 Fix window activation in QWindowsWindow::setCustomMargins()
Currently, code paths that call QWindowsWindow:setCustomMargins()
automatically also activate the window (=give the window focus).
The reason for this is the call of SetWindowPos (Windows API)
without the flag SWP_NOACTIVATE.

From the Windows API documentation about SetWindowPos() about the
flag SWP_NOACTIVATE:

Does not activate the window. If this flag is not set, the
window is activated and moved to the top of either the
topmost or non-topmost group (depending on the setting of
   the hWndInsertAfter parameter).

It seems the flag SWP_NOACTIVATE is accidentally missing in the
call of SetWindowPos() in setCustomMargins(), especially since
the flag is present in pretty much all other calls of SetWindowPos().

The obvious fix is to add the flag SWP_NOACTIVATE to the call
of SetWindowPos() in setCustomMargins().

So far, this issue exists for a long time, an was possibly
introduced with commit f5fd534603, where setCustomMargins()
was initially added.

My assumption before was that show() method calls exec(), but it seems

I moved the actuall DBus call from exec() method. The exec() method now
internally calls show(), at least this is my assumption and it seems to
behave like that from my testing.

- the right handle is acuatually the left handle but on the right side and it acts as a left handle

When the application is hidden then Qt will hide the popup
windows associated with it when it has lost the activation
for the application. However, when it gets to this point it
believes the popup windows to be hidden already due to the
fact that the application itself is hidden. As a result,
when the application is restored it causes a problem with

Therefore we need to explicitly hide the windows right before the
application is hidden to ensure that they are actually hidden

commit adds the missing dead key symbols.

[ChangeLog][Linux/XCB] Added missing dead key symbols, enabling their
use with the "compose" input module.

Johan Klokkhammer Helsing 923dd4fe8f Add a tech preview eglfs device integration for VSP2 composition
This creates a new device integration for eglfs, eglfs_kms_vsp2, that's very
similar to eglfs_kms_gbm, but includes an extra step for doing VSP2 hardware
compositing.

The main Qt content is drawn to double buffered off-screen GBM buffers which
are converted using drmPrimeHandleToFD so we get DMA buffer file descriptors
that can be used by the VSP2 blending hardware. The blending hardware writes to
double buffered DRM dumb buffers, which are flipped with drmModePageFlip.

Communicating with the VSP2 is done using the Video4Linux2 (V4L2) streaming
API. There are two steps in creating abstractions for this. First, there is the
QLinuxMedia class that consists of a Qt style wrapper for V4L2 without anything
VSP2 specific. Second, there is QVsp2BlendingDevice which hides some of the
streaming details of the VSP2 and has some level of error recovery. Both
classes include a fair bit of logging and error reporting.

The patch is written with Wayland compositors in mind, but should work for
other use cases as well.

This is just the basic support to make compositing work, additional features
may be added in subsequent patches, i.e:

- Auto-detect VSP2 (-feature-vsp2 currently needs to be explicitly enabled).
- Support for setting the alpha value of a layer.
- Support clipping layers.
- Support for scaling layers.
- Support for other output formats than RGBA32.
- Hardware cursor support.
- Support foreign layers below the main Qt layer.
- Support for memory mapped and user pointer buffer types (currently only DMA
  buffers are supported).

Gatis Paeglis 209d8f10e4 xcb: fix and optimize QXcbConnection::xi2SetMouseGrabEnabled
What was broken:

- m_xiGrab on successful ungrab (XIUngrabDevice) was never set to 'false'.
Which means that we would unnecessarily call XIAllowTouchEvents, even when
we are not grabbing (this did not have any apparent side effects).

What was non optimal:

- Redundant XIQueryDevice calls. XIQueryDevice with XIAllMasterDevices flag
already returns all required devices. Calling XIQueryDevice for every id again
does not make sense.

- Querying for master pointer info on every grab is unnecessary. Simply cache
ids of master devices whenever hierarchy changes.

What remains to be investigated some time later (or never):

The original and the re-factored code grabs all master pointer devices. Not
sure if that is the expected behavior on MPX (Multi-pointer X) systems. Could
there be two context menus, each dismissed separately? MPX concept was introduced
in XI2.0, but testing shows that this setup is not very well supported even on
modern desktop environments. Tested on Ubuntu 16.04, where multiple pointers is
enough for crashing a terminal. Also AFAIK there isn't any bug reports about
broken MPX support in Qt.

By using NSEvent.characters instead of NSEvent.charactersIgnoringModifiers,
we may miss sending ShortcutOverride events.

For example, when the user presses Cmd-Opt-o, characters will be "ø"

string when the search on the unmodified string fails.

As and addendum, we also skip any submenu when doing the key search.
This is not necessary since each menu delegate will get called eventually.

Adds support for FileChooser Flatpak portal. To support them we just do
specific DBus calls, which are then caught and forwarded by xdg-desktop-
portal daemon/service. This is needed for Qt applications running in
sandbox.

[ChangeLog][Platform Specific Changes][Linux] Added support for flatpak
portals. Flatpak is a software utility for software deployment and
package management. It provides a sandbox environment in which users
can run applications in isolation from the rest of the system. To
communicate with the system flatpak uses portals, which are designed to
be a bridge between sandboxed applications and desktop/system running on
user's computer. Flatpak runs this service (called xdg-desktop-portal)
automatically. It exports the portals via DBus and they are visible by
default to all applications running under Flatpak.

Qt requests full resolution OpenGL surfaces by default.
However, when running as a VMware guest it looks like
the OS silently creates low-resolution surfaces.

This is not possible to detect using the standard NSWindow

reading the backing scale factor. The result of this
is that Qt will incorrectly display one quarter of
the window content only.

Fall back to detecting if the OpenGL renderer is the

is the case. This needs to be done while we have a

Tor Arne Vestbø ba44cdae38 Teach QPlatformWindow about safe area margins and implement for iOS
The safe area margins of a window represent the area that is safe to
place content within, without intersecting areas of the screen where
system UI is placed, or where a screen bezel may cover the content.

QWidget will incorporate the safe area margins into its contents margins,
so that they are are never smaller than the safe area margins. This can be
disabled by unsetting the Qt::WA_ContentsMarginsRespectsSafeArea widget
attribute, which is set by default.

QLayouts will automatically use the contents area of a widget for their
layout, unless the Qt::WA_LayoutOnEntireRect attribute has been set. This
can be used, along with a contents margin of 0 on the actual layout,
to allow e.g. a background image to underlay the status bar and other
system areas on an iOS device, while still allowing child widgets of
that background to be inset based on the safe area.

[ChangeLog][iOS/tvOS] Qt will now take the safe area margins of the
device into account when computing layouts for QtWidgets.

The region of whose rects() we iterate here is modified in the loop
body, so take a copy of the rectangles. Since QVector is still
missing a range constructor, use std::vector. This does not cause
extra copies, since the QVector inside QRegion would detach anyway,
when the QRegion is modified inside the loop.

Tor Arne Vestbø a73de7ce2d iOS: Harden logic for when it's safe to use the graphics hardware
To fix QTBUG-52493 we tied the exposed state of a window to the
application being in the foreground. This has the result of a
visible flash of black between hiding the launch screen and showing
the first frame of the application, as the application is still
waiting for UIApplicationStateActive to begin rendering, which
happens after iOS hides the launch screen.

According to the iOS OpenGL ES Programming Guide, it should be safe
to render GL in UIApplicationStateInactive as well, and even in
UIApplicationStateBackground, as long as the rendering finishes
before the UIApplicationDidEnterBackgroundNotification returns.

To ensure that we catch any bugs in this area, checks have been
added that verify that no rendering happens while in the background
state.

Tor Arne Vestbø 933497bace iOS: Ignore view layouts while in the background
Despite the OpenGL ES Programming Guide telling us to avoid all
use of OpenGL while in the background, iOS will perform its view
snapshotting for the app switcher after the application has been
backgrounded; once for each orientation. Presumably the expectation
is that no rendering needs to be done to provide an alternate
orientation snapshot, just relayouting of views. But in our case,
or any non-stretchable content case such as a OpenGL based game,
this is not true.

Instead of continuing layout, which will send potentially expensive
geometry changes (with isExposed false, since we're in the background),
we short-circuit the snapshotting.

iOS will still use the latest rendered frame to create the application
switcher thumbnail, but it will be based on the last active orientation
of the application.

To ensure that we pick up the right geometry when rotating the device
while the app is in the background, we treat applicationWillEnterForeground
as Qt::ApplicationInactive, which matches the recommendations of the
OpenGL ES Programming Guide to "re-create any objects and restart your
animation timers".

Tor Arne Vestbø 77942a1bdf iOS: Try to detect and deal with delayed touch delivery due to gestures
A UIGestureRecognizer may have its delaysTouchesBegan or delaysTouchesEnded
properties set, which causes iOS to not deliver touch events to the view
until the recognizer has failed recognition of its gesture.

In that case, the touch event is not delivered via [UIWindow sendEvent:]
as usual, but via _UIGestureEnvironmentSortAndSendDelayedTouches. The
latter function is apparently not reentrant, as opening a native alert
dialog in response to the touch delivery will result in the dialogs's
buttons to stop working, probably because they themselves use gestures.

Unfortunately iOS maintains two internal gesture recognizers on iPad,
of type _UISystemGestureGateGestureRecognizer, probably related to the
swipe-from-bottom gesture used for multitasking. Without any workaround,
these two recognizers will result in any tap on the bottom part of the
screen to be delivered delayed, which may introduce stuck alert dialogs
as described above.

UITouch has a gestureRecognizers property, but unfortunately this property
does not give us any information in the cases where we need it, so we
have to use an heuristic involving a UIWindow subclass to detect the
case where event delivery is delayed. As there is no way to prevent
the user from recursing into an event loop when delivering the event,
our only hope is to deliver the event asynchronously.

Gatis Paeglis bcd0e43eb9 xcb: fix regression with missing XI_PropertyEvent
Wacom stylus proximity detection had stopped working: it was not
detecting which type of tool is in use, so all stylus types
acted as a generic drawing stylus.

Selecting XI_PropertyEvent on a root window fixes the problem.
There is nothing in the XI2 specification that says that this
property would not be supported on non-root windows. Possibly
it is bug in the X server. Anyways, selecting XI_PropertyEvent
on a root window in this case actually is better. Property event
contains a global state information, there is nothing window
specific in it, so there is no need to select it for every native
sub-window.

It is worth noting that XI_HierarchyChanged also seems to work
only when selected on the root window (according to my testing
results). And on XI2 author's blog post about XI_HierarchyChanged
it says [1]:

"These events are sent to all windows, so it doesn't really
matter where you register. The traditional approach is to
register on the root window."

This kind of further confirms that it might be bug in X Server's
implementation.

Tor Arne Vestbø a0871ad225 iOS: Deliver all QWindowSystemInterface events synchronously
On iOS we want all delivery of events from the system to be handled
synchronously, as that's what the system expects.

We don't need to add a delivery template argument to each function
in QWindowSystemInterface that we want to delivery synchronously;
that's only needed for functions that a platform normally sends
asynch, but in some cases want to delivery synchronously.

For always delivering events synchronously we just need to change
the default delivery method.

The only events affected by this are the screen changes, and
window state change, which were not synchronous before, but
should be. All other events were already synchronous, though

Prevent image scrolling on client-side whenever possible - do it on

scrolled contents.

Put new image which will be scrolled to the server-side pixmap and do
scroll on it. Then do a server-side copy of a scrolled area from pixmap
to he window. Also put non-scrolled image directly to the window.

When not using shared memory also don't do redundand client-side image
scrolling.

When using OpenGL compositing first copy scrolled image area from/to

Andre de la Rocha 04da027439 Windows QPA: Detect a SetParent into a native window and set isEmbedded
Detecting that a Qt window has been reparented into a native window and
setting isEmbedded automatically. While there is no specific message for
the change in the parent window, a WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING message
indicating a change in the Z order is sent. We can recognize an
embedding condition by detecting that our QWindow does not have another
QWindow as a parent, but the HWND associated with it has another HWND as
a parent, which is not the desktop window.

This change should cover the use case where a Qt-based plugin must
return a HWND to a host application, where the host application will
then reparent the HWND as it sees fit, outside of Qt control.
