The delegate classes shouldn't be used outside of the Activity/Service
classes, since they're practically private implementation, so don't use
them anywhere outside Activity/Service.
Since Qt Android apps still mainly support having one QtActivity/
QtService, QtNative heavily uses those objects to do various operations.
For that reason, we still need to use the delegate there. The aim is
to change that in future patches and do the operations where they make
more sense for example directly under QtActivityBase/QtActivityDelegate
or Service counterpart.
The QtServiceDelegate is used no where and have no special
implementation, so it's removed here.

The problem with non-legacy mode is that the backend uses the same
filename for the system semaphore file and for the shared memory file.
What happens is that when we try to call attach(), a semaphore is
created. Later in attach() we set unix_key, because ftok() returns
a valid handle (it uses the file which was created for semaphore).
After that, an attempt to actually attach to a shared memory fails, but
no clean-up is done.
So, a later call to create() sees that unix_key is already valid, but
it cannot properly clean it, because it does not actually refer to
any shared memory.
Fix it by cleaning up unix_key and nativeKeyFile if shmget() call in
attach() fails.

The logic of the new tests is taken from

These special member functions have no purpose.
We never *documented* their semantics. Any code using them is
unconditionally wrong (which semantics was it assuming?), so we can
accept the SIC (type A). If a user needs such a copy, they would have to
reason on the intended semantics (relaxed? acquire/release?) and be
explicit in their code. Especially for assignment, they would need
understand the consequences of the memory ordering that apply on _each_
atomic object involved and not on the assignment operation as a whole
(there are no such semantics).
Testing this change on qtbase has already found bugs.
From a purely technical point of view: we don't guarantee lock-free
atomics nor we require them from the underlying platform. An atomic is
therefore allowed to be implemented as a mutex protecting a value, and
mutexes are not copiable. std::atomic follows the exactly same pattern
(not copiable nor copy-assignable) for exactly the same reasons, and Qt
atomics are implemented on top of std:: ones.
[ChangeLog][QtCore] The copy constructor and assignment operators of
Qt atomic classes (QAtomicInteger, QAtomicPointer) have been removed.
Their usage in user code should be considered a programming error, as no
memory ordering semantics were ever documented for these operations (and
therefore relying on any specific semantic would be relying on
undocumented, unportable behavior). This matches the API of the
std::atomic class in C++. Note that you can still use explicit
load/store operations to transfer a value across two Qt atomic objects,
and therefore use the memory ordering specified for the load/store
operations.

We must take care of anonymous block devices (major == 0). Certain
filesystems, such as btrfs, always use them, so we must still stat() the
device path to get the real block device.
This implementation assumes that udev only creates entries in the
/dev/disks/by-label directory that are symlinks to real devices, but
that must already be the case because they are in /dev in the first
place. An alternative implementation would be to compare the inode and
host device (st_dev) of the entry, if different /dev entries could have
different labels. I don't think that's possible. But multiple /dev
entries for the same device is definitely possible.

Fix this by comparing the signatures and size of the type we have with

It is possible to get them with QFile, by either doing .flush() or using
QIODevice::Unbuffered, but using the C API is a definite sure way. Plus,
since this is QFileSystemEngine, this avoids the possibility that QFile
may choose to use a different file engine than the native one, for some
reason. And it reduces overhead.
This allows us to more easily detect why the file creation failed and
therefore stop looping if the error wasn't EEXIST. That will avoid an
infinite loop in case the necessary directories exist but aren't
writable.
It's also moved above the renaming, such that the failure to populate
the info file prevents the renaming too. Both operations can have the
same likely errors, ENOSPC and EIO. The likelihood of EIO is very low,
for both; but for ENOSPC it's far more likely for writing the
file. Avoiding the ENOSPC error for the renaming is handled in a later

Arrays can be created from a Qt container through a constructor or the

This changes takes Qt for Android Java code away from the Delegate
classes that uses heavily Java reflection to invoke Activity/Service
calls and overrides. So instead of that, now, we have a QtActivityBase
and a QtServiceBase classes which handle the override logic needed for
Qt directly without reflection.
These Base classes extend Android's Activity and Service directly, and
are inside the internal Qt android package (under Qt6Android.jar).
For example, to handle onConfigurationChanged, instead of the current
way where we need this in QtActivityDelegate:
public void onConfigurationChanged(Configuration configuration)
{
try {
m_super_onConfigurationChanged.invoke(m_activity, configuration);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
handleUiModeChange(configuration.uiMode &
Configuration.UI_MODE_NIGHT_MASK);
}
And then this in QtActivity:
@Override
public void onConfigurationChanged(Configuration newConfig)
{
if (!QtLoader.invokeDelegate(newConfig).invoked)
super.onConfigurationChanged(newConfig);
}
public void super_onConfigurationChanged(Configuration newConfig)
{
super.onConfigurationChanged(newConfig);
}
And having to keep it's Method handles around and then use Java
reflection
to call the override behavior done by Qt and the superclass methods.
instead of that, we can do it now in QtActivityBase like:
@Override
public void onConfigurationChanged(Configuration newConfig)
{
super.onConfigurationChanged(newConfig);
handleUiModeChange(newConfig.uiMode &
Configuration.UI_MODE_NIGHT_MASK);
}
Then, we would still have our user facing QtActivity class which extends
QtActivityBase and benefit from the same implementation of Qt logic done
in the base class.
An additional benefit to this approach is that now QtActivity will be
very lightweight and doesn't need to have all the boilerplate code as
before.

The implementation previously worked for non-short date-times, where
the offset has been remembered since construction. This included the
case of zoned times (and local times more than 2^55 msec away from the
start of 1970) that hit a spring-forward's gap; but excluded local
times that did the same (within 2^55 msec of the epoch).
This precluded an offset check in a spring-forward test, now added.
We can in fact determine the offset whenever we got a valid date and
time (we do so in the course of initializing the object, and when
asked for toMSecsSinceEpoch(), even when invalid), and we should not
use the value of the recorded offset if we didn't get a valid date and
time, so amend to always return 0 if we didn't get valid date and time
and always report the correct offset otherwise.
In the process, amend offsetFromUtc()'s computation to directly
resolve the date-time, rather than doing so via toMSecsSinceEpoch(),
which has to repeat decision-making offsetFromUtc() has already done
by the time it calls it. Also amend toMSecsSinceEpoch() to return 0 if
we didn't have a valid date and time to begin with, so it only
attempts to produce a useful result in the case where construction
attempted to resolve the date-time.

The resolution selects a point in time outside the gap, which will be
represented by toMSecsSinceEpoch()'s return, despite the QDT object's
isValid() returning false. Previously we retained the
originally-calculated msecs, so as to keep date() and time() matching
what was asked for. However, this required adjusting offset, which was
not remembered for local times within 2^55 milliseconds of the start
of 1970. This lead to an inconsistency between the offset from UTC
reported for the resolution for a local time further from the epoch,
or for a time-zone, and the actual offset from UTC at the time
indicated by the return from toMSecsSinceEpoch().
Instead, retain the actually calculated offset (even if we aren't
going to remember it) and adjust the msecs to the value that ensures
toMSecsSinceEpoch() will get the selected resolution. This
incidentally means that, when toMSecsSinceEpoch() has to re-resolve
(for a local time within 2^55 msecs of the epoch), it avoids
revisiting the complications of hitting the gap.
In passing, change internal stateAtMillis() to take the QTimeZone it

Add versions of the static functions from QJniObjects to the
QtJniTypes::Object so that they can be called without explicitly
specifying the type or class name. This includes a constructor and named
constructors.
Constructing such objects means constructing a Java object of the class
the object type represents, as per the Q_DECLARE_JNI_CLASS declaration.
This is not without ambiguity, as constructing a type with a jobject
parameter can mean that a type wrapping an existing jobject should be
created, or that a Java object should be created with the provided
jobject as the parameter to the constructor (e.g. a copy constructor).
This ambiguity is for now inevitable; we need to be able to implicitly
convert jobject to such types. However, named constructors are provided
so that client code can avoid the ambiguity.
To prevent unnecessary default constructed QJniObjects that are then
replaced immediately with a properly constructed object, add a protected
QJniObject constructor that creates an uninitialized object (e.g. with
the d-pointer being nullptr), which we can then assign the constructed
jobject to using the available assignment operator. Add the special
copy and move constructor and assignment operators as explicit members
for clarity, even though the can all be defaulted.
Such QJniObject subclasses can then be transparently passed as arguments
into JNI call functions that expect a jobject representation, with the
QtJniTypes::Traits specialization from the type declaration providing the
correct signature.
QJniObject's API includes a lot of legacy overloads: with variadic
arguments, a explicit signature string, and jclass/jmethodID parameters
that are completely unused within Qt itself. In addition the explicit
"Object" member functions to explicitly call the version that returns a
jobject (and then a QJniObject). All this call-side complexity is taken
care of by the compile-time signature generation, implicit class type,
and template argument deduction. Overloads taking a jclass or jmethod
are not used anywhere in Qt, which is perhaps an indicator that they,
while nice to have, are too hard to use even for ourselves.
For the modern QtJniTypes class instantiations, remove all the overhead
and reduce the API to the small set of functions that are used all over
the place, and that don't require an explicit signature, or class/method
lookup.
This is a source incompatible change, as now QJniTypes::Object is no
longer a primitive type, and no longer binary equivalent to jobject.
However, this is acceptable as the API has so far been undocumented,
and is only used internally in Qt (and changes to adapt are largely
already merged).

When constructing a QWeakPointer<T> from a rvalue QWeakPointer<X>,
even if X* is convertible to T*, actually doing the conversion
requires access to the pointee's vtable in case of virtual inheritance.
For instance:
class Base { virtual ~Base(); };
class Derived : public virtual Base {};
Now given a `Derived *ptr`, then a conversion of `ptr` to `Base *` is
implicit (it's a public base), but the compiler needs to dereference
`ptr` to find out where the Base sub-object is.
This access to the pointee requires protection, because by the time we
attempt the cast the pointee may have already been destroyed, or it's
being destroyed by another thread. Do that by going through a shared
pointer. (This matches the existing code for the converting assignment.)
This requires changing the private assign() method, used by QPointer, to
avoid going through a converting move assignment/construction, because
one can't upgrade a QWeakPointer tracking a QObject to a QSharedPointer.
Given it's the caller's responsibility to guard the lifetime of the
pointee passed into assign(), I can simply build a QWeakPointer<T> and
use ordinary (i.e. non-converting) move assignment instead.

d026fad3d9 added converting constructors
for QPointer. This however made converting _assignments_ ambiguous,
introducing a regression for users coming from Qt < 6.6.
This code:
QPointer<Base> base;
QPointer<Derived> derived;
base = derived;
used to convert `derived` to `Derived *` (using the implicit conversion
operator from `QPointer<Derived>` to `Derived *`), and then the
assignment operator for `QPointer<Base>` that took a `Base *`.
The introduction of the conversion constructor in 6.6 makes it possible
to convert `QPointer<Derived>` to `QPointer<Base>`, and then fall back
to the compiler-generated assignment operator for `QPointer<Base>`.
The result is that the code above is now ambiguous and stops compiling.
Fix this by adding a converting assignment operator for QPointer.
I'm only adding the const-lvalue overload because the implementation
requires going through the private QWeakPointer::assign helper. We
cannot copy-assign or move-assign the inner QWeakPointer, as those
assignments require lock()ing the QWeakPointer and that's not possible
on a QObject-tracking QWeakPointer (but cf. QTBUG-117483).
Assigning from a rvalue QPointer would mean calling assign() on
the internal QWeakPointer _and_ clear the incoming QPointer,
and that's strictly worse than the lvalue overload (where we just call
assign()).

Instead of adding it after the block size was calculated. This makes no
difference for non-growing (exact) blocks. For growing blocks, this
means we take that extra element into account before rounding to the
next power of two, instead of after. That results in a change of the
thresholds of when a block grows and also what capacity it will
contain.
For example, for a QString growing to 22-25 elements:
Request | Previously | Now |
elements | bytes | malloc()ed | capacity() | malloc()ed | capacity() |
22 | 44 | 66 | 24 | 64 | 23 |
23 | 46 | 66 | 24 | 64 | 23 |
24 | 48 | 66 | 24 | 128 | 55 |
25 | 50 | 130 | 56 | 128 | 55 |
To avoid wasting elementSize - 2 bytes in this footer, we only include
this footer if elementSize <= 2. Thus, for a QList<int> growing to 11-13
elements:
Request | Previously | Now |
elements | bytes | malloc()ed | capacity() | malloc()ed | capacity() |
11 | 44 | 66 | 12 | 64 | 12 |
12 | 48 | 66 | 12 | 128 | 28 |
13 | 52 | 130 | 28 | 128 | 28 |
In both cases, we now only allocate powers of two while growing, which
may be beneficial to some allocators.

might be source incomaptible if wrapper functions in user code forward
the constraint using Expression SFINAE. Those wrappers would no longer
be removed from the overload set based on the same criteria as the

Eventually, QItemSelectionModel::setModel(nullptr) is called.
At this point, only a QOBject is left from the QAbstractItemModel.
That leads to warnings about disconnecting string based signals, which

This was missing for a while, and there is nothing fundamentally
missing for it to work.
With the more recent work around slot objects and invokeMethod in
general, it is a good time to add support for this.
In this patch, when connecting to a functor, it automatically deduces
the overload to call based on the arguments passed to invokeMethod.
Sharing code with QObject::connect could be done, but they have a
key difference that makes it harder:
With signal emissions we throw away trailing arguments that are not
used: i.e. `signal(int, int)` can be connected to `slot(int)` or
`slot()`. With invokeMethod that's not a thing. So we will need a way
to toggle that behavior during resolution.

The was introduced with the rewrite of QMetaObject::invokeMethod() in
commit 0f76e55bc4, because we have an
optimization for zero timers to avoid creating a temporary
QSingleShotTimer object. The old implementation did attempt to normalize
the target slot name, but did so because it looked metamethods up using
QMetaObject::indexOfMethod:
int idx = meta->indexOfMethod(sig.constData());
if (idx < 0) {
QByteArray norm =
QMetaObject::normalizedSignature(sig.constData());
idx = meta->indexOfMethod(norm.constData());
}
The new implementation does not use this method so it didn't need to
attempt to normalize.
I am fixing this only in QTimer and not in QMetaObject::invokeMethodImpl
(even though it is trivial to do so) because I don't believe spaces in a
pure string to invokeMethod were ever expected to work:
QMetaObject::invokeMethod(obj, "slotName ", Qt::QueuedConnection);
The Q_ARG and Q_RETURN_ARG (for code not recompiled) still does
normalization inside QMetaType::fromName().

and might be de-allocated or overwritten before the string/byte array
is used or is forced to make a deep-copy. This would lead to incorrect
data being used.
This is easy to overlook if you plan to append multiple strings

left in as an explicit constructor.
We now have a named constructor for the same functionality, so just
drop the "unnamed" constructor.
"Unnamed" constructors are important when emplacement is more
efficient than construction + move, or when implicit conversion is
required. Neither is the case here: The named as well as the
"unnamed" constructors just copy ten bytes around, and the compiler
can optimize those extra copies away just fine.

Nothing prevents client code from calling QLocale::setDefault() before
we ever instantiate QLocale::system() - aside from some quirks that
mean setDefault(), currently, does instantiate QLocale::system() to
force initialization of defaultLocalePrivate - so using defaultIndex()
could set the system QLocalePrivate instance's index incorrectly.
In any case, even if the index is initially set correctly, a
subsequent change to the system locale would change the correct index;
and nothing outside QLocale::system() has access to the instance that
would then be remembering an out-of-date index.
Actually tripping over that inconsistency took some deviousness, but
was possible. The index is (currently) only used for month name
lookups and those special-case, for the Roman-derived calendars, the
system locale, to only use the index if the system locale offers no
name for a month. Meanwhile, updateSystemPrivate() uses the fallback
locale's index for its look-up of which CLDR data to copy into the
fallback QLocaleData for the system locale.
None the less, a non-Roman calendar's lookup will go via the index to
get at the CLDR data for that calendar, thereby exposing the system
locale's index to use; and, sure enough, a setDefault() could lead
that to produce wrong answers.
In QLocale::system() there's a cached QLocalePrivate, whose index we
need to ensure stays in sync with the active system locale. So pass
its &m_index to systemData(), which will now (when passed this) ensure
it's up to date. Since we always have called systemData(), to ensure
it is up to date, we can skip that update in the initialization of the
cached private and use m_index = -1 to let systemData() know when it's
in the initial call, thereby making the static cache constinit.
Amended a test to what proved the issue was present.

QSpan is Qt's version of std::span. While we usually try not to
reimplement std functionality anymore, the situation is different with
QSpan. Spans are non-owning containers, so the usual impedance
mismatch between owning STL and Qt containers doesn't apply here:
QSpan implicitly converts to std::span and vice versa, making STL and
Qt APIs using spans completely interoperable.
We add QSpan mainly for two reasons: First, we don't want to wait
until we require C++20 in Qt and can use std::span. Second, in the
view of this author, some design decisions in std::span hurt the
primary use-case of spans: type-erasure for containers. This results
in two major deviations of QSpan from std::span: First, any rvalue
container is convertible to QSpan, allowing seamless passing of owning
containers to functions taking spans:
void sspan(std::span<T>);
void qspan(QSpan<T>);
std::vector<T> v();
sspan(v()); // ERROR: rvalue owning container
auto tmp = v();
sspan(tmp); // OK, lvalue
qspan(v()); // OK
This author believes that it's more helpful to have compilers and
static checkers warn about a particular wrong usage than to make
perfectly valid use-cases impossible or needlessly verbose to code.
The second deviation from std::span is that fixed-size span
constructors are also implicit. This isn't as clear-cut, because an
explicit QSpan{arg} isn't per-se bad. However, it means you can't
transparently change from a function taking decltype(arg) to one
taking QSpan and back. Since that's exactly what we intend to do in Qt
going forward, in the interest of source-compatibility, the ctors are
all implicit.
Otherwise, the API of QSpan follows the std::span API very
closely. Like std::span, QSpan isn't equality_comparable, because it's
not clear what equality means for spans (element-wise equal, or (ptr,
size)-wise equal?). The major API additions are Qt-ish versions of std
API functions: isEmpty() on top of empty() and sliced() instead of
subspan(). The (nullary) first()/last() functions (Qt speak for
front()/back()) clash with the std::span function templates of the
same name, so are not provided.
This patch adds QSpan as private API. We intend to make it public API
in the future.

The QUuid(quint128) ctor was handing the incoming data differently
from the QUuid(Id128Bytes) ctor. Same was valid for the return
values of QUuid::toUint128() vs QUuid::toBytes().
The provided test didn't reveal it, because it was treating the same
128-bit input value as BE in one place, and as LE in another place.
This patch fixes the test, and updates the implementation of
QUuid(quint128) ctor and toUInt128() method to verify that the

Setting the parent of a QObject to nullptr means the ex-parent no
longer owns and deletes the object as its child, leaking it.
Fix by creating a scope-guard to defer deletion until the tests have
run.
This is simpler than the alternatives:
Putting it into unique_ptr would require a new variable name, or a
larger refactoring of the function, because the `test` variable is
being re-used for many different objects in the course of the
function, most of which should not be deleted.
Using QAutoPointer would drag in QtWidgetsPrivate, and the class is
probably not available in all active branches.
Finally, deleteLater() would require reliably returning to the event
loop, which may not happen if the test is run in isolation.
Bug exists since the dawn of the public history, and QScopeGuard is
available in all active branches.

In C++20 std::basic_string_view has gained a range constructor (like
QStringView always had), but that range constructor has been made
explicit. This means we can't just pass a QString(View) to a function
taking a u16string_view. The consensus seems to be that that types that
should implictly convert towards stdlib's string views should do that
via implicit conversion operators. This patch adds them for
* QByteArrayView => std::string_view
* QString(View) => std::u16string_view
* QUtf8StringView => std::string_view or std::u8string_view, depending
on the storage_type
QLatin1StringView doesn't have a matching std:: view so I'm not enabling
its conversion.
QByteArray poses a challenge, in that it already defines a conversion
towards const char *. (One can disable that conversion with a macro.)
That conversion makes it impossible to support:
QByteArray ba;
std::string_view sv1(ba); // 1
std::string_view sv2 = ba; // 2
because:
* if only operator const char *() is defined, then (2) doesn't work
(situation right now);
* if both conversions to const char * and string_view are defined, then
(1) is ambiguous on certain compilers (MSVC, QCC). Interestingly
enough, not on GCC/Clang, but only in C++17 and later modes.
I can't kill the conversion towards const char * (API break, and we use
it *everywhere* in Qt), hence, QByteArray does not get the implicit
conversion, at least not in this patch.

The test was relying on the fact that, having written 1 byte to both
writeEnd1 and writeEnd2 (and ensured those bytes were written with
waitForBytesWritten()), both read ends would be activated by the next
event loop. It turns out that this was an unreliable assumption, because
the processing of that 1 byte on the second socket may not have happened
yet. So firm up by waiting that both read ends are readable before even
creating the QSocketNotifiers we will read on.
I'm not entirely sure what this test is attempting to test. Its
documentation says it's testing a QAbstractSocket condition, but the
read ends aren't QAbstractSocket (this test should have been in
tst_QAbstractSocket if so). It may be testing the condition that caused
that QAbstractSocket behavior, but that wouldn't be a good test.

QXmlStreamReader accepted multiple DOCTYPE elements, containing DTD
fragments in the XML prolog, and in the XML body.
Well-formed but invalid XML files - with multiple DTD fragments in
prolog and body, combined with recursive entity expansions - have
caused infinite loops in QXmlStreamReader.
This patch implements a token check in QXmlStreamReader.
A stream is allowed to start with an XML prolog. StartDocument
and DOCTYPE elements are only allowed in this prolog, which
may also contain ProcessingInstruction and Comment elements.
As soon as anything else is seen, the prolog ends.
After that, the prolog-specific elements are treated as unexpected.
Furthermore, the prolog can contain at most one DOCTYPE element.
Update the documentation to reflect the new behavior.
Add an autotest that checks the new error cases are correctly detected,
and no error is raised for legitimate input.
The original OSS-Fuzz files (see bug reports) are not included in this
patch for file size reasons. They have been tested manually. Each of
them has more than one DOCTYPE element, causing infinite loops in
recursive entity expansions. The newly implemented functionality
detects those invalid DTD fragments. By raising an error, it aborts
stream reading before an infinite loop occurs.
Thanks to OSS-Fuzz for finding this.

"QLibrary::setFileNameAndVersion: reset the tag after findOrCreate".
This restores the behavior of resolve() and compatibility with Qt 4 and
5, which is documented to imply a call to load().
Do note that if you call load() or resolve() and don't call unload(),
the library you've loaded can never be unloaded now. So don't leak!
[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes] QLibrary::isLoaded() now reports
whether this instance of QLibrary has succeeded in loading the library,
via direct or indirect call to load(). Previously, it used to reported
whether the actual library was loaded by any QLibrary instance.
The change to QLibrary::resolve() itself is effectively a no-op in this
patch, because isLoaded() would have returned false, but it ensures that
the implementation does what it says it will do.
