C++20 via P1120 is deprecating arithmetic operations between
unrelated enumeration types, and GCC 10 is already complaining.
Hence, these operations might become illegal in C++23 or C++26 at
the latest.
A case of this that affects Qt is in key combinations: a
QKeySequence can be constructed by summing / ORing modifiers and a
key, for instance:
Qt::CTRL + Qt::Key_A
Qt::SHIFT | Qt::CTRL | Qt::Key_G (recommended, see below)
The problem is that the modifiers and the key belong to different
enumerations (and there's 2 enumerations for the modifier, and one
for the key).
To solve this: add a dedicated class to represent a combination of
keys, and operators between those enumerations to build instances
of this class.
I would've simply defined operator|, but again docs and pre-existing
code use operator+ as well, so added both to at least tackle simple
cases (modifier + key).
Multiple modifiers create a problem: operator+ between them yields
int, not the corresponding flags type (because operator+ is not
overloaded for this use case):

Not only this loses track of the datatypes involved, but it would
also then "add" the key (with NO warnings, now its int + enum, so
it's not mixing enums!) and yielding int again.
I don't want to special-case this; the point of the class is
that int is the wrong datatype. Everything works just fine when
using operator| instead:

So I'm defining operator+ so that the simple cases still work,
but also deprecating it.
Port some code around Qt to the new class. In certain cases,
it's a huge win for clarity. In some others, I've just added
the necessary casts to make it still compile without warnings,
without attempting refactorings.
[ChangeLog][QtCore][QKeyCombination] New class to represent
a combination of a key and zero or more modifiers, to be used
when defining shortcuts or similar.
[ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes] A keyboard
modifier (such as Qt::CTRL, Qt::AltModifier, etc.) should be
combined with a key (such as Qt::Key_A, Qt::Key_F1, etc.) by using
operator|, not operator+. The result is now an object of type
QKeyCombination, that stores the key and the modifiers.

Move the feature to corelib so that the QMetaType enumeration
values can be properly excluded and there is no need for a
dummy class.
Use QT_REQUIRE_CONFIG in the headers of classes to be disabled.
Add headers/source files in the .pro file depending on the configure
feature in libraries and tests.
Add the necessary exclusions and use QT_CONFIG.

It calls toLower() on it, and the existence of two strings in scope
has already caused some latent bug where sizes of the two were mixed.
Taking by value means we can use the rvalue-version of toLower().
While that does not guarantee no allocations, we can make sure that at
least in QKeySequence::assign(), we hand in unshared data, by using
std::move().

The new modular configuration system requires one global
header per module, that is included by all other files in
this module.
A similar scheme and naming convention is already being used
for many other modules (e.g. printsupport, qml, quick).
That header will later on #include the configuration file
for Qt Gui. For now it defines the Q_GUI_EXPORT macro for
this library.
In addition, add a private global header, qtguiglobal_p.h,
that can later on include the private config header for
Qt Gui for things we don't want to export to the world.

The MSVC STL warns when passing naked pointers as non-bounded
iterators to algorithms such as std::equal and std::copy, in
an attempt to inform users that the range specified by that
iterator has an implicit minimum size that the caller of the
algorithm must ensure is met:
warning C4996: 'std::_Equal1': Function call with parameters that may be unsafe - \
this call relies on the caller to check that the passed values are correct. To \
disable this warning, use -D_SCL_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS. See documentation on how to \
use Visual C++ 'Checked Iterators'
When building Qt, as well as when building user projects with
qmake (cf. 0a76b6bc7f), we
globally disable this warning (with -D_SCL_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS),
but since we started using STL algorithms in public headers (e.g.
in qvector.h), users get this warning in their own projects now,
unless they, too, define said macro. But such a requirement is
against the Qt policy to have headers that are warning-free as
much as possible.
The suggested way of fixing this warning is to wrap the naked
pointer in a stdext::unchecked_array_iterator before passing it
to the algorithm, cf. examples in
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ttcz0bys%28v=vs.120%29.aspx
or, together with the capacity-made-explicit, in a
stdext::checked_array_iterator.
To avoid ifdefs for platforms that don't have these extensions
(which, incidentally, for the unchecked case, includes MSVC 2012),
wrap the calls in macros.
The end game here is to drop -D_SCL_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS, at least
for public headers, even though this commit also adds the wrapper
to implementation and private header files.
An alternative to the wrapper would have been the version of
std::equal that takes four iterators. However, that is a C++14
library feature, while this version of Qt still needs to compile
with a C++98 compiler, and, more importantly, there isn't, and
never will be, a corresponding 4-iterator version of std::copy.

that returns the key text representation without the modifiers.
The implementation is compatible with libdbusmenu-qt.

The MaxKeyCount symbolic constant was introduced for use by QKeySequenceEdit,
but never applied to QKeySequence itself. To prevent the two from getting
out of sync, use it in the QKeySequence implementation itself, too.
This required re-writing most expressions involving QKeySequenceEditPrivate::keys
with algorithms, but we already determined in the discussion around 1cf9a139
that GCC generates the same code as the loops unrolled by hand, and if Clang
doesn't, it's its own fault.
Where using MaxKeysCount was not possible, e.g. in documentation,
static_asserts were used to indicate the need for manual changes.

code headers accordingly. In the same go we should also fix the links to

Adjust users and add a static_cast that MaxKeyCount be 4. That is instead
of adjusting all the code to use MaxKeyCount instead, some of which
cannot be thus changed (e.g. where using the QKeySequence(int, int, int, int)
constructor).
This was requested in the original review, but never implemented.

This allows platforms to dynamically alter their keyboard
shortcuts, for example if they are user-configurable on that
platform. Current behavior remains the same.
QEvent previously used the hardcoded values in QKeySequencePrivate so
this was modified to use QKeySequence::keyBindings().
In order to keep the speed of QEvent's former binary search, we moved
this code to QPlatformTheme::keyBindings(), making it faster for all
keyBinding lookups.
As we now need to search by StandardKey instead of by shortcut the list
is reordered and a test is changed to reflect that.
