Gatis Paeglis ad36da8ff4 testlib: start sharing common helper functions
... by moving them in QTestPrivate namespace (qtesthelpers_p.h). This
header file is a convenient staging area for helper APIs, eventually
some could be moved to public QTest API.

This header file utilizes the same pattern as other qtestlib header
files - wrapping functions with QT_${LIBNAME}_LIB to automatically
enable certain APIs based on what is in the projects dependencies,
e.g. QT += widgets.

Gatis Paeglis a37785ec76 qpa: enhance mouse event with type and button data
... and deprecate QWSI APIs that accepts mouse event without mouse button/
type data.

In the early days of Qt5 it was decided to centralize mouse button/type
handling in QGuiApplication (because of limitation of some now unknown
platform). This has proven to be problematic as mouse handling details
differ across platforms (e.g on X11 we do not receive mouse release event
when closing popup windows or ordinary windows that are closed from the
mouse press event). Instead of hacking around platform specific behaviors
in Qt Gui, we should move this task back to platform plugins (similar to
how this was done in Qt4 with native APIs sending mouse details directly
to QApplication). There are even cases where it simply is not possible
to deduce (from QGuiApplication) which button caused the event (e.g. when
more than one button is involved and some event goes missing). Besisdes,
throwing away information which is already available at QPA level (for free)
and trying to deduce it again at Qt Gui level seems impractical, fagile
(as probably noticed by people fixing all the unexpected issues) and adds
unnecessary complexity.

Note:

Removing the deprecated QWSI APIs from offscreen plugin depends on fixing
autotests that rely on QOffscreenCursor::setPos() logic.

For the convenience of testing use QT_QPA_DISABLE_ENHANCED_MOUSE to restore
to the old code path where QGuiApplication does the mouse state deducing.

Other platforms have similar issues. I do not have all supported platform
available on my desk, so other platform maintainers will need to take care
of porting those platforms to the new APIs. And mainly, I don't want to deal
with all the hacks that other platforms have added to workaround this broken
mouse logic.

In Qt6 we need to remove deprecated code path from QGuiApplication.

This patch:

- Extends QWindowSystemInterfacePrivate::MouseEvent ctor with QEvent::Type
and Qt::MouseButton. We use this extra data when processing mouse events in
QGuiApplication. This actually is similar to KeyEvent, where we do pass the
type (press or release) to QtGui.

- Refactors QGuiApplicationPrivate::processMouseEvent and qtestlib to use
the new APIs.

David Faure 23d0c77ce8 QTestLib: flush DeferredDelete events between every test
This makes qtestlib behave more like real Qt applications with an
event loop, where exiting the application does indeed flush deleteLaters.
And since every test method is supposed to be independent from other
test methods, we should even cleanup between tests.

For "app less" tests, no flushing happens.

Real life use cases:

* A unittest for some code (e.g. KIO job) which uses a socket, runs an
event loop until the socket communication is done, and ends. However
slotDisconnected() does, as recommended, socket->deleteLater(). So the
test finishes before the socket has a chance to actually get deleted,
and memory leak tools flag a memory leak, which doesn't actually happen
outside the unittest.

* Deleting a QWebEngineView with deleteLater is even worse than a memleak,
it leads to an assert (from a global object destructor) in QtWebEngine
if the view deletion hasn't actually been processed.

Edward Welbourne 3abfa4dfff QtTestLib: handle float16 the same as double and float
In QCOMPARE, handle NaNs and infinities the way tests want them
handled, rather than by strict IEEE rules. In particular, if a test
expects NaN, this lets it treat that just like any other expected
value, despite NaN != NaN as float16 values. Likewise, format
infinities and NaNs specially in toString() so that they're reported
consistently.

Enable the qfloat16 tests that depend on this QCOMPARE() behavior.
Refise the testlib selftest's float test to test qfloat16 the same way
it tests float and double (and format the test the same way).

This is a follow-up to 37f617c405.

Milian Wolff 58b4e07369 Optimize QTimer::singleShot(0, ...) when taking PMF or Functor callable
QTimer::singleShot is optimized for zero timeouts when using the API
taking a string method name. This optimization was not used for the API
taking a PMF or functor. This patch adds it, making the various API
calls behave similarly from a performance point of view.

The approach taken here requires a QObject context object. If none is
available, e.g. a nullptr was passed explicitly, or the
QTimer::singleShot(O, Functor) API was used, the optimization could
not easily be applied. This is not only bad from a performance POV,
but also poses as a potential source for heisenbugs: Using the
different API versions of QTimer::singleShot would use different code
paths internally, which then would not ensure the expected slot call
order. This problem actually existed already when mixing the
string-based slot syntax with PMF/functors in the QTimer::singleShot
API.

This patch overcomes this hurdle and fixes all of the above: When we
encounter a 0ms single shot timer, and no QObject context object is
available, we fall back to the main thread, or create a temporary
QObject for any other thread. The updated and extended benchmark
shows that this is still a significant performance improvement
over using a timer:

Edward Welbourne b82b3f4067 Fix the skip-check in TestMethods::invokeTest()
TestMethods::invokeTest() has an outer loop on global data (albeit
with a comment that said otherwise). On its first cycle, we run the
test function's *_data() method, if it has one; there is an inner loop
on the rows this created. If the *_data() QSKIP()s, we need to skip
the whole test; otherwise, a QSKIP() in one sub-test should not lead
to skipping the remaining sub-tests.

Moved the check for *_data() QSKIP()ping to right after *_data()
returns, inside the "first global cycle" block that runs it.
Previously, this check was done before entering the loop on local data
rows, but outside that "first global cycle" block: consequently, later
global cycles would fall foul of this check (even though the *_data()
hasn't been run in this cycle, much less QSKIP()ped in it) if the last
sub-test of the previous global cycle had QSKIP()ped.

When running a single test for one specific data row, if the test's
*_data() QSKIP()ped, this misplaced check would also have lead to a
misleading "Unknown testdata" warning.

Changed testlib/selftests' tst_globaldata::skipSingle() to trigger the
bug (by having its last local row of first global row skip, which
caused the second global row to be omitted) to verify this is also
fixed; and amended one of its comments to reflect what's now to be
expected. Updated the test's expected output files.

Edward Welbourne ab53f0f24e QtTestLib: unify handling of float and double using suitable templates
The QTest::qCompare() implementations were almost duplicates; pull the
common code out into a templated version. Tweaked the
QTest::toString() specialization for float and double (a macro) and
fixed a bous modifier in double's format.

The doubleComparisons and floatComparisons tests in the tst_float.cpp
selftest shared a large block of tests in common, aside from the
difference of type. Break this out into a templated static function
to save duplication.

This prepares the way for using the same templated code for qfloat16.

Marc Mutz a611a9f537 QCOMPARE: allow mixed-type comparisons
There's no reason to restrict the LHS and the RHS to the same type
like it was done before. That just leads to lots of casting. or use
of QVERIFY(. == .) instead of QCOMPARE, with all the disadvantages
like no printing of the LHS and RHS values.

The rationale given in the documentation for this behavior is
incorrect. Ensuring that RHS and LHS have the same type by no means
ensures that no implicit conversions take place when calling
operator==. Proof:

   QCOMPARE(QLatin1Char('a'), QLatin1Char('a'));
   // instantiates
   qCompare<QLatin1Char, QLatin1Char>
   // but calls
   operator==(QChar, QChar)

If the intent is to disable implicit conversions of the argument
types, then some serious metaprogramming magic would be needed, along
the following lines:

1. find out which op== overload is actually chosen
2. find that overload's RHS parameter type, assert it's the same as
   (possibly cv-qualified) T1.
3. ditto for the LHS parameter type and T2

This is not attempted here.

Fix the inconvenience this restriction caused by simply allowing
two types.

This cannot break existing code, since we didn't actually change
anything in the qCompare() overload set. All we do is implement the
existing qCompare<T1, T2>() overload.

[ChangeLog][QtTest] QCOMPARE can now be used for mixed-type
comparisons.

This new function does the same as newRow(), except that it has a less confusing
name (in line with _add_Column()), and accepts printf-style arguments to avoid
the need to newRow(qPrintable(QString::asprintf())), a common pattern in client

const char* round-trip.

Port all in-tree users of newRow(qPrintable(QString::asnprintf())) to the new
function.

Remove most type traits from qtypetraits.h, but keep the custom
implementation of is_signed/is_unsigned. This gets rid of
BSD-3 licensed code from Google in a public header (hugh!).

The custom implementations for is_signed/is_unsigned are kept
because the implementations in gcc's standard headers do not
work as we expect for enums - both is_signed and is_unsigned

Marc Mutz c35eff2ace Add qtest_network.h
... and move toString() implementations there which were repeated in
network tests, or #ifdef'ed in qtest.h.

Since the functions moved from network tests are now in a public header,
had to massage them a bit to pass headersclean:

- replace Q_FOREACH with C++11 range-for
- avoid implicit conversion from QByteArray -> const char* (done by
re-using toString(QByteArray) instead of calling strdup() manually)

Also made the functions overloads instead of specializations. This
allows to pass the enum by value instead of by const-&.

Like the existing QHostAddress, the newly-added toString() overloads are
marked as \internal. We can decide later whether to turn them into
public API.

Erik Verbruggen 3982e710cb QTest: add debugger detection for macOS
Which, in Mach speak, is an exception handler for the process. Also
check if the crash reporter is in a mode that will show a dialog for
any crashed process. If so, leave it to that crash reporter to do stack
traces.

This patch has the nice side-effect that a crashing test won't have both
a debugger and CrashReporter generate stack traces.

You can check the settings for CrashReporter on macOS with the command:

    defaults read com.apple.CrashReporter DialogType

If it is set to 'basic' or 'developer' or 'crashreport', CrashReporter
will show the dialog. If set to 'server' it won't. Any unattended system
should have it set to 'server' (which will have QTest invoke lldb to
generate stack traces):

    defaults write com.apple.CrashReporter DialogType server

Shawn Rutledge d04982dc84 QTest::QTouchEventSequence: add a sleep before each touch movement
In any code (such as QtQuick Flickable) which calculates velocity as
distance / time, it's unrealistic to simulate instantaneous touchpoint
movements. So, force a slight delay before each event, so that
the touchpoint can only move very fast, but not infinitely fast.
We use qSleep() rather than qWait() because qWait() has a minimum
qSleep(10), and also processes events. commit() also conditionally
calls processEvents(), and we don't want to make that unconditional.

Noticed by Coverity (CID 161673). If the file being read contains
enough to fill the buffer, read() shall do that and return the nbytes

writing a '\0' at this index in buffer is out of bounds. Fortunately,

All the same, we can safely pass sizeof(buffer) - 1 as nbytes and *be

Edward Welbourne b057fdbb12 Improve documentation of BLACKLIST file format.
In particular, make sure the word BLACKLIST appears in it so it can
actually be *found*. Mention the comment format, mention version
suffixes, mention negation; expand and clarify the description.
Break it up into paragraphs for ease of reading.

Corrected the example to use osx, not its old platform name. Gave it
a comment that I wish I'd found in the BLACKLIST file that obliged me
to come looking for this in the first place. Illustrated the use of
comments to document reasons for ignoring tests.

We were looking up distro and version, in order to conditionally add
them to keywords if missing, on every keyword line of each BLACKLIST

intemediary function that adds to the raw keywords and supplies
one-off initialization for the list of conditions to match.

Mike Krus 03e9c6f4a6 Add support for Apple tvOS
Pass -xplatform macx-tvos-clang to configure to build.
Builds device and simulator by default.

Added ‘uikit’ platform with the common setup.
Also added QT_PLATFORM_UIKIT define (undocumented).
qmake config defines tvos (but not ios).

tvOS is 64bits only (QT_ARCH is arm64) and requires bitcode to be
embedded in the binary. A new ‘bitcode’ configuration was added.
For ReleaseDevice builds (which get archived and push to the store),
bitcode is actually embedded (-fembed-bitcode passed to clang). For all
other configurations, only using bitcode markers to keep file size
down (-fembed-bitcode-marker).

Build disables Widgets in qtbase, and qtscript (unsupported,
would require fixes to JavaScriptCore source code).

Qpa same as on iOS but disables device orientation, status bar, clipboard,
menus, dialogs which are not supported on tvOS.

Tor Arne Vestbø 9ff1310af5 Distinguish between Objective-C and Objective-C++ sources
Instead of lumping both Objective-C (.m) and Objective-C++ (.mm) sources
into the same pile, passing them on to the same compiler as for C++ (CXX),
with the C++ flags (CXXFLAGS), we follow Apple's lead and treat them as
variants of the C and C++ languages separately, so that Objective-C
sources are built with CC and with CFLAGS, and Objective-C++ sources
with CXX, and CXXFLAGS.

This lets us remove a lot of duplicated flags and definitions from the
QMAKE_OBJECTIVE_CFLAGS variable, which in 99% of the cases just matched
the C++ equivalent. The remaining Objective-C/C++ flags are added to
CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS, as the compiler will just ignore them when running in
C/C++ mode. This matches Xcode, which also doesn't have a separate build
setting for Objective-C/C++ flags.

The Makefile qmake generator has been rewritten to support Objective-C/C++
fully, by not assuming that we're just iterating over the C and C++
extensions when dealing with compilation rules, precompiled headers, etc.
There's some duplicated logic in this code, as inherent by qmake's already
duplicated code paths, but this can be cleaned up when C++11 support is
mandatory and we can use lambda functions.

Tor Arne Vestbø c7e5e1d9e0 Move shortcut handling back into QPA and simplify delivery
Commit 7f5b94b47 moved shortcut handling into QGuiApplication (for all
platforms except OS X), due to crashes on Android where the events are
delivered from another thread.

Now that we have synchronous event delivery (also across threads) from
QPA, this is no longer needed, and we can move the code back to QPA,
where the platform has more control over when and how shortcut events
are delivered in relation to normal key events.

Handling shortcuts is as before a two step process. We first send a
QKeyEvent::ShortcutOverride event to the active window, which allows
clients (widgets e.g.) to signal that they want to handle the shortcut
themselves. If the override event is accepted, we treat it as the
shortcut not being handled as a regular shortcut, and send the event
as a key press instead, allowing the widget to handle the shortcut.

If nothing accepted the shortcut override event we pass it along to
the global shortcut map, which will treat the event as handled if
an exact or partial match is found.

The QShortcutMap::tryShortcutEvent() and nextState() implementation
has been simplified to not use the events accepted state for its
internal operation, which removes the need for saving the state
of the incoming event.

The QKeyEvent::ShortcutOverride event was also always sent with
the accepted state set to false, by calling ignore() on it before
sending it. This is now explicit by having shortcut override
events being ignored by default in their constructor, and the
documentation has been updated accordingly.

Thiago Macieira 741a7aef58 QtTest: Increase the size of the alternate stack
The default (8kB) isn't enough for modern Linux on x86-64. I can't
exactly account for it, as the size of the xsave area is 0x340 bytes,
plus the regular area it's still less than ~1.5 kB. But empirically we
can see that 8kB causes a SIGSEGV when a signal is delivered, while 16
kB works.

Since we're increasing the size, let's make sure it ends up in a
separate page from the rest of the .bss data.

Caroline Chao 9545bee98a QTestLib: Add data parameter to SKIP message if any
When using GPU_BLACKLIST, a blacklisted test is volontary skipped
early in the process to avoid crashes or undefined bahaviors. Thus
the name of the running test only contains the slot name and doesn't
show which data was eventually used.

If a test is skipped while running with different data, the skip message
currently doesn't tell which data was run either.

To identify the skipped test, when the test is run with data, the data
is now amended to the slot name in the skip message.
