Timur Pocheptsov 6b285de8ec Fix QSocketEngineBackend::nativeBytesAvaible for UDP sockets
On OS X ioctl(... FIONREAD) on UDP socket returns more than expected:

"SO_NREAD returns the amount of data in the input buffer that is available to be received
For datagram oriented sockets, SO_NREAD returns the size of the first packet -- this dif-
fers from the ioctl() command FIONREAD that returns the total amount of data available."
(man getsockopt). On OS X bytesAvailable for UDP socket seems to include some headers also:
for a datagram of size 1 - bytesAvailable == 17, 2 - bytesAvailable == 18 etc.
Found in a broken tst_qudpsocket test.

Anton Kudryavtsev 0f27d11285 Don't use QStringLiteral in comparisons
For QLatin1String, operator== is overloaded, so comparing to a latin-1
(C) string literal is efficient, since strlen() is comparatively fast.

OTOH, QStringLiteral, when not using RVO, litters the code with
QString dtor calls, which are not inline. Worse, absent lambdas,
it even allocates memory.

So, just compare using QLatin1String instead.

Maurice Kalinowski 1f9a06c294 winrt: Fix potential crash in readDatagram
The native socket engine used strcpy for WinRT, which tries to copy
terminating null character. The QSocketNotifier::async_readDatagramSlot
autotest uses a buffer of size 1, which causes readDatagram to overwrite
the buffer on the stack.

Hence use memcpy instead to protect from additional copies beyond
barriers. Note that we cannot use qstrcpy as that does a buf[size-1] =
'\0' at the end, which would remove content for a buf size of 1.

Alex Trotsenko 294111e25a QHttpSocketEngine: ensure pending EOF triggers a notification
When the remote peer closed the connection, a read notification needs
to always be emitted, otherwise the higher layer does not get the
disconnected signal. From the other side, underlying QAbstractSocket
object could temporarily disable notifications from the engine at
any time. To avoid possible blocking of the socket, take a pending EOF
into account when the read notifications are re-enabled.

Alex Trotsenko 7d257aab81 QIODevice: handle incomplete reads
Introduce a transaction mechanism that gives the ability to read the
data atomically. Current implementation supports transactions for both
types of devices. For sequential devices, it records the whole input
stream during transaction. For random-access devices, device position
is saved when transaction starts. If an error occurs, the application
may be able to recover the input stream by rolling back to the start
point.

Also, QIODevice::peek() was rewritten to make use of transactions
internally. The replacement of QIODevicePrivateLinearBuffer by
QRingBuffer is closely entangled with that, which makes it unfeasible
to do separately.

Bump the TypeInformationVersion field in qtHookData, to notify the
Qt Creator developers that the offset of QFilePrivate::fileName was
changed and dumpers should be adapted.

[ChangeLog][QtCore] Added QIODevice's startTransaction(),
commitTransaction(), rollbackTransaction(), isTransactionStarted()
functions to support the read transactions.

Edward Welbourne 6be65702f8 Minimal fix for network-manager problem on plugin unload.
This fixes the problem as long as we have C++ 11's semantics for
in-function statics.  The Q_GLOBAL_STATIC_WITH_ARGS() is a non-trivial
wrapper whose destructor gets unloaded with the plugin, leading to a
crash-on-exit if the global it wraps outlives the plugin. The plain
(in-function) static manages to avoid this by avoiding the wrapper.
As the static was only needed in one place, this proves a sufficient
solution to the plugin-unload problem *in this case*.

When a datagram is sent to a closed host/port combination, the host will
likely send back an ICMP error message. In the regular socket API, there
isn't a good way of actually receiving this error, so some Windows kernels
wired that message back up to the call to WSARecvFrom() as a synthetic
datagram. Reading this datagram results in a WSAECONNRESET error code,
which should reported to the user as a refused connection attempt.

To make the errors a bit more informative, the native error strings for
WSAECONNRESET and WSAENETRESET were also added.

Thiago Macieira bdd4ddd8fa QNetworkInterface: fix support for address labels on Linux interfaces
Commit 64a1448d87 (Qt 5.2) caused
QNetworkInterface to report address labels (a.k.a. interface aliases) as
separate interfaces. This is caused by the fact that glibc, uClibc and
MUSL copy the address label (netlink address attribute IFA_LABEL) to the
ifa_name field, which made QNetworkInterfaceManager think that it was an
interface it hadn't yet seen.

Address labels are the old way to add more than one IP address to an
interface on Linux, for example:
    ifconfig eth0:1 192.0.2.2

Those do not create a new interface, so the "eth0:1" label maps to the
same interface index as the parent interface. This has been deprecated
for 10 years, but there are still tools out there that add addresses in
this manner.

This commit restores behavior compatibility with Qt 4.2-5.1. The Qt
5.2-5.5 behavior is incorrect because it reports more than one interface
with the same index. On systems configured like the above, the
tst_QNetworkInterface::interfaceFromXXX test was failing.

Ulf Hermann 7aba75ffc5 Don't let closed http sockets pass as valid connections
A QAbstractSocket can be close()'d at any time, independently of its
current connection state. being closed means that we cannot use it to
read or write data, but internally it might still have some data to
send or receive, for example to an http server. We can even get a
connected() signal after close()'ing the socket.

We need to catch this condition and mark any pending data not yet
written to the socket for resending.

Ulf Hermann 0df5d07929 Don't let closed http sockets pass as valid connections
A QAbstractSocket can be close()'d at any time, independently of its
current connection state. being closed means that we cannot use it to
read or write data, but internally it might still have some data to
send or receive, for example to an http server. We can even get a
connected() signal after close()'ing the socket.

We need to catch this condition and mark any pending data not yet
written to the socket for resending.

Alex Trotsenko c86ca601ed Windows socket engine: do not discard datagram on critical failure
On some network conditions, WSARecvFrom() may return WSAECONNRESET
or WSAENETRESET error code to indicate that the connection has been
broken and should be reset. According to MSDN documentation,
WSAECONNRESET mean that the virtual circuit was reset by the remote
side executing a hard or abortive close. Also, it would indicate
that a previous send operation resulted in an ICMP "Port Unreachable"
message. For a datagram socket, WSAENETRESET indicates that the time
to live has expired.

Previously, hasPendingDatagram() discarded datagrams with these
errors and reported no data available. This behavior is incorrect
and can lead to infinite "freezing" of the socket.

This patch allows to handle these notifications as a result of the

Alex Trotsenko 378e26dd14 QUdpSocket: avoid infinite read notifier blocking
There was a small amount of time between the last readDatagram() call
and disabling a read notifier in case the socket had a pending
datagram. If a new datagram arrived in this period, this qualified as
absence of a datagram reader. Do not change the read notifier state
because it is disabled on canReadNotification() entry and always enabled
by the datagram reader.

Thanks to Peter Seiderer, who investigated the same: "Querying
hasPendingDatagrams() for enabling/disabling setReadNotificationEnabled()
is racy (a new datagram could arrive after readDatagam() is called and
before hasPendingDatagrams() is checked). But for unbuffered sockets the
ReadNotification is already disabled before the readReady signal is
emitted and should be re-enabled when calling read() or readDatagram()
from the user."

However, this patch does not completely solve the problem under Windows,
as the socket notifier may emit spurious notifications.

We weren't using qt_sockaddr_storage, so it's not a problem. But since
we're not using it anyway, we don't really need it. The storage is only
needed if we needed to get a bigger socket address and that only happens
with Unix sockets (paths).

sockaddr_in6, however, was just wrong. Some systems derived from BSD,
like OS X, have a sXX_len field containing the length of the socket
address structure and our qt_sockaddr_in6 was missing sin6_len. As a
result, setting sin6_family was just plain wrong on little-endian
systems. Like all modern systems running BSDs and OS X...

The IPv4+IPv6 dual stack code that has been in Qt since 5.0 has been
giving test failures for tst_qudpsocket: some binds that shouldn't
succeed do succeed. Instead, copy the core code from the Unix version so
the two OSes will behave the same way.

The one difference in behavior between Windows and Unix is that on Unix
you can bind an IPv4 address to a multicast IP and on Windows you can't.
So I left the "correction" that was in the original code, but I'm unsure
if it is the right thing to do. Are people expecting to join the
multicast group this way?

Thiago Macieira 89efa7333d QAbstractSocketEngine: introduce QIpPacketHeader for datagrams
This commit changes the readDatagram() and writeDatagram() virtual
functions to take a QIpPacketHeader as meta data, instead of a
QHostAddress/quint16 pair. As previously, the header is an "out"
parameter for readDatagram() and an "in" parameter for writeDatagram().

The header pointer in readDatagram() is allowed to be null if the
PacketHeaderOptions indicates WantNone. Otherwise, it must not be null.
The extra options parameter is introduced because we may not always want
all the metadata upon reception. For sending, we know what to include or
not based on what's set in the incoming header parameter.

QIpPacketHeader splits sender and destination because we'll be able to
return both on datagram reception.

Markus Goetz bc32c0ebc0 QNAM: Fix reply deadlocks on server closing connection
The _q_readyRead can also be called from readMoreLater() because we implemented
it so that bandwidth limited reading can be implemented.
This can lead to a race condition if the socket is closing at the specific moment
and then deadlock the channel: It will stay unusable with a zombie request.
The fix in QHttpProtocolaHandler checks if there is actually bytes available to read
from the socket and only then continue.

The fix in the HTTP channel needs to be done to properly finish the reply in
cases of a server replying with HTTP/1.0 or "Connection: close".
The delayed incovation of _q_receiveReply will properly finish up the reply.

Mostly related to IPv6, because Q_IPV6ADDR is an array of char, so the
compilers were generating byte access to each value. Instead, force
access as 32- and 64-bit in most places that make sense (64-bit access
decays to 32-bit on 32-bit machines). In one isLoopback(), this is now a
128-bit access for best improvement.

Some smaller improvements relating to SpecialAddress by combining the

Long-lived threads started by Qt itself can now receive events even if

start that will handle events, unless we're sure that the thread will
exit before the global application object begins destruction.

Otherwise, those threads will have race conditions dealing with the

The pipe2/dup3/accept4 functions and SOCK_CLOEXEC are quite old nowadays
on Linux. They were introduced on Linux 2.6.28 and glibc 2.10, all from
2008. They were also picked up by uClibc in 2011 and FreeBSD as of
version 10.0. So we no longer need the runtime detection of whether the
feature is available.

Instead, if the libc has support for it, use it unconditionally and fail
at runtime if the syscall isn't implemented.

Define both qHash() and operator==() outside of the class, like

Markus Goetz cff39fba10 QNAM: Fix upload corruptions when server closes connection
This patch fixes several upload corruptions if the server closes the connection
while/before we send data into it. They happen inside multiple places in the HTTP
layer and are explained in the comments.
Corruptions are:
* The upload byte device has an in-flight signal with pending upload data, if
it gets reset (because server closes the connection) then the re-send of the
request was sometimes taking this stale in-flight pending upload data.
* Because some signals were DirectConnection and some were QueuedConnection, there
was a chance that a direct signal overtakes a queued signal. The state machine
then sent data down the socket which was buffered there (and sent later) although
it did not match the current state of the state machine when it was actually sent.
* A socket was seen as being able to have requests sent even though it was not
encrypted yet. This relates to the previous corruption where data is stored inside
the socket's buffer and then sent later.

The included auto test produces all fixed corruptions, I detected no regressions
via the other tests.
This code also adds a bit of sanity checking to protect from possible further
problems.

transforms 0.0.0.0 to localhost, but that's non-standard and won't work
on other OSs, so it's still a bad idea.

Thiago Macieira c64d27a9f7 QHostAddress: Revert auto-converting of IPv6 v4-mapped addresses to IPv4
In 85136496bc, Shane made QHostAddress
automatically convert any IPv6 address that was v4-mapped to IPv4 in
QHostAddress. While that is an interesting trick, it prevents us from
being specific about what we want. On some OS (like FreeBSD and OS X),
the distinction is relevant, so keep it.

Moreover, it was inconsistent: it might fail depending on how the
QHostAddress was constructed and the order of comparison.

[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes] QHostAddress will no longer
convert IPv6 addresses of type "v4-mapped" to IPv4. To perform this
conversion manually, construct another QHostAddress with the result of
toIPv4Address().

Thiago Macieira 126d489f7f Adjust the socket address family before bind()/connect()/sendto()
If our socket is already of a given type (probably due to a previous
call to bind()), then constrain the incoming target address to be of the
same family. On some OSs, trying to send or connect to an IPv4 address
from an IPv6 socket will fail with EINVAL, even if the socket is not in
"v6only" mode.

bind() can't be called after already being bound, but the function can
still be called on a socket created by the user and passed on with
setSocketDescriptor().

Thiago Macieira 9fb68a90af Fix bind+connect in both TCP and UDP
This has been known to be broken for a while. Now it works: you can bind
and you'll retain the port (and the file descriptor) for the connect
call. Incidentally, in fixing the binding for more than one IP for the
hostname (with event loop), this commit fixes the setSocketDescriptor
XFAIL.

[ChangeLog][QtNetwork] Fixed a bug that caused both QTcpSocket and
QUdpSocket to close the socket and lose any bound ports before
connecting. Now bind()/setSocketDescriptor() followed by connect() will
retain the original file descriptor.
