Usually, when you load a plugin, you don't want to load just any plugin
that fulfills a given interface, but rather a specific one. When loading
dynamic plugins you can differentiate the plugins by file name. This
doesn't work in the static case, and file names are also separate from
the plugin metadata shipped inside the plugin files.
To solve this problem, different hacks have been developed in various
places. QML extension plugins add a special property "uri" via the -M
option of moc, QML debug plugins expect you to add a json file with
an array of "Keys", Qt Creator plugins have a "Name" in their json
files, etc.
By allowing the identifier for the plugin to be specified inline with
the metadata declaration we can make many of the above workarounds
obsolete and provide a clean way for users to find their plugins.

First of all, we were using the wrong size variable: instead of the size
of the section, found in the section header, we were using the size of
each section entry in the section table. Since that's usually smaller,
we weren't hitting a problem.
Second, if the string table is the last thing in the file and there's
nothing else after it, not even padding, then offset + section_size can
be equal to the file size. In fact, the .shstrtab section is usually the
last one, as it contains the section names themselves, so it stands to
reason that it's the second to last thing written.
For generic linkers, the last data in the file is the section table
itself, so usually the file is larger by at least a kilobyte, which is
why we haven't hit this bug. It could only manifest as deciding that
certain specially-crafted but valid ELF files were invalid. I can't
think of a way to trick it into thinking an invalid ELF is valid.
That's another reason why this code needs to be rewritten with more
modern coding styles and actually using <elf.h>

This update eliminates ALL parsing errors when clang parses the
Qt headers to build the precompiled header qdoc needs. These errors
are often cases where an old use of Q_QDOC no longer works because
clang sees the enclosed fake declarations as erroneous.
In a few cases, clang reported errors because two dummy function
declartations under the Q_CLANG_QDOC guard were indistinguishable,
so one of them was removed, and the documentation was patched
accordingly.
Using the macro Q_DECLARE_INTERFACE(...) causes clang to report errors
because the class parametewr is abstract. These uses of the macro are
not needed, so they are removed with #ifndef Q_CLANG_QDOC.
Some declarations of default GL types that had been provided for qdoc
were no longer needed, so they are removed.
Now there are some member function signatures in QDBusPendingReply
and QDBusPendingCall that have very long template clauses and qualifiers
in their signatures. These unwieldy signatures will be unnecessary in the
documentation and will look bad there, but for now they are correct. The
ultimate solution will be to add a metacommand to qdoc, something like
\simplify-signature to tell qdoc to generate the documentation for these
member functions without the long template caluses and qualifiers.

RCC generates code that registers resources automatically on program
startup via global constructors. When linking statically and nothing
references the symbols in the .o file compiled from the RCC generated
code, then the linker will discard the embedded resources and they will
not get initialized. That is why for static linking it is necessary to
explicitly initialize resources using the Q_INIT_RESOURCE macro.
We can avoid the need for the explicit initialization in the context of
plugins that are statically linked into the application. resources.prf
can generate a .cpp file with a helper function that contains all the
Q_INIT_RESOURCE calls for all resources in the plugin. That helper
function in turn is injected into the plugin entry point, which in turn
is guaranteed to be included in the final binary.

When Qt is configured for both debug and release, and frameworks are
enabled, we produce two dynamic libraries inside each framework, eg:
QtCore.framework/QtCore
QtCore.framework/QtCore_debug
When building an executable against these frameworks, we pass -framework
QtCore, and the resulting executable will have its LC_LOAD_DYLIB load
commands pointing to e.g.:
@rpath/QtCore.framework/Versions/5/QtCore
When running the executable, the dynamic loader will load the dynamic
library dependencies based on these load commands.
By setting the DYLD_IMAGE_SUFFIX environment variable at runtime to
'_debug', the dynamic loader will prefer the debug versions of each
library inside the frameworks.
Unfortunately the use of an environment variable to choose debug or
release versions leaves room for mismatches between the executable
and the libraries that are loaded. An executable built in debug
mode will at runtime pick up the release versions of the Qt libraries
unless the DYLD_IMAGE_SUFFIX has also been set to match the build
configuration of the executable.
This results in confusing situations such as building your application
in debug mode, and then stepping into Qt code but not getting any
symbols. Qt Creator has an option to run the application with
DYLD_IMAGE_SUFFIX set, but this is not enabled by default due
to the startup cost of loading the Qt debug libraries.
More critically, it results in tests failing when the tests are using
QTest::ignoreMessage to ignore warnings produced by Qt, and these
calls are ifdefed (correctly) inside QT_NO_DEBUG, as the test
(built in debug mode) will then expect warnings from Qt, but those
warnings are not emittet, as the test is run against the release
version of the Qt libraries.
To mitigate this mismatch, we now link the Qt frameworks using
an explicit suffix, just like we would for no-framework builds
on macOS, for debug and release builds on Windows, and for
normal builds on other Unixes, leaving the dependency chain
for the application predictable:
@rpath/QtCore.framework/Versions/5/QtCore_debug
This also conceptually matches how Xcode builds applications and
frameworks, where it never relies on DYLD_IMAGE_SUFFIX, and instead
uses two separate build directories, one for each configuration.
The change means that Qt Creator will always load the Qt debug
libraries if the application is built in debug mode. For Qt
development this is a good thing, as you expect to be able to
step into Qt code. For our users, the added startup cost can
be mitigated by shipping our binary packages as release-only,
but with separate debug info enabled.

The process of loading a plugin is examplified by the qLoadPlugin
function (though not all users of QFactoryLoader use this function, they
all do something similar):
const int index = loader->indexOf(key);
if (index != -1) {
QObject *factoryObject = loader->instance(index);
if (FactoryInterface *factory = qobject_cast<FactoryInterface *>(factoryObject))
if (PluginInterface *result = factory->create(key, std::forward<Args>(args)...))
return result;
}
QFactoryLoader::indexOf already locked the mutex, but not
QFactoryLoader::instance. This commit fixes that.
Note that calling the virtual create() in the plugin's factory is not
protected by the mutex. Each plugin's factory must be thread-safe and
also create an object that works on any thread too. It's also the
responsibility of the caller of qLoadPlugin to ensure that it's called
thread-safely.

QPluginLoader hasn't unloaded in its destructor since Qt 5.0, but we
missed the equivalent code in QFactoryLoader (which bypasses
QPluginLoader). Besides, QPluginLoader::unload() was still doing
unloading, which it won't anymore.
Not unloading plugins is Qt's policy, as decided during the 5.0
development process and reaffirmed now in 5.6. This is due to static
data in plugins leaking out and remaining in use past the unloading of
the plugin, causing crashes.
This does not affect QLibrary and QLibrary::unload(). Those are meant
for non-Qt loadable modules, so unloading them may be safe.

Both e_shentsize and e_shtrndx are ELF half-words, which means C
integers of rank less than int (they're quint16). That means this
multiplcation was done actually as int, due to integer promotion from
unsigned short. So preempt the integer promotion and force them to full-
word integers (unsigned int).
While the bit-pattern result of the multiplication is the same, the
addition with e_shoff (a qelfoff_t = quintptr) wouldn't: the promotion
from 32-bit int to 64-bit would first execute a sign-extension.
Now, this shouldn't happen on regular ELF files, but it cause QLibrary
to crash if a specially-crafted (or simply corrupt) plugin is found.

out-of-line, vtables and, more importantly, type_info structures for
the class are pinned to a single TU. This prevents false negative
dynamic_cast and catch evaluation.
In this second and last batch, we de-inline destructors of exported
public classes.
Since they are already exported, users of these classes are unaffected
by the change, but since it's public API, and the dtors may have been
de-virtualized and inlined into application code, we need to avoid
adding code to the out-of-line destructor until Qt 6.

When seemingly identical QStringLiterals are used in different
functions, due to the use of lambdas and scoping, they produce
different lambda types and thus duplicated QStringLiteral data.
Fix by moving the QStringLiterals into inline functions and
calling those instead.

Instead of initializing debug_env to -1 (thus forcing the variable
into the data segment), and then overwriting the -1 with a read
from the env-var, dynamically initialize the variable from the
env-var directly, thus allowing the variable back into the bss
segment (which doesn't occupy storage in the executable).
There may have been a reason to do it this way when the old code
could fail due to the memory allocation involved, but now with
qEnvironmentVariableIntValue(), that is no longer a reason.

They shouldn't exist in the first place. They exist in two cases only:
1) mistake by the user in the QLibrary or QPluginLoader constructors or
setFileName
2) as a kludge for setLoadHints before a file name is set (we need to
store the user's requested hints somewhere)
This is important for the second case, as otherwise all QLibrary and
QPluginLoader objects without a file name would share the setting.

and an atomic variable. The setter will not set anything if the library

This commit moves the setting of the loadHints to inside the constructor
or to QLibraryStore::findOrCreate (which is under a mutex). This avoids
data race conditions with two threads asking for the same plugin at the
same time, with different load hints.
This also opportunistically moves the setting of the error message for
empty file names.

When QtCore's global destructors are run, they delete the global
QLibraryStore qt_library_data and set the pointer to null. If something
happened to call QLibraryStore::instance() later, it would be recreated
and then weird things might happen. So prevent that from happening.
That usually cannot happen, since the only thing that can run after
QtCore global destructors are other QtCore global destructors or global
destructors from libraries that do not depend on QtCore. So we're
reasonably safe. There are two conditions in which something could run
after QLibraryStore::cleanup() and still try to access QLibraryStore:
1) indirect dependency, like a global destructor from a library that
doesn't depend on QtCore running code from another module that does.
2) static builds of Qt modules. In that case, the order of the global
destructors is totally arbitrary and we could get one from a module that
depends on QtCore running after QtCore's. That is the case from the bug
report.
