A variable of static storage duration that is not zero-initialized
takes up space in the DATA segment of the executable. By making the
counters start at zero and adding the initial value afterwards, we
move them over to the BSS segment, which does not take up space in
the executable.
Wrap atomics used across function boundaries into small functions,
to avoid code duplication and to increase readability.

Add proper support for 'so' and 'bundle' suffixes. Qt wrongly assumes
.so libraries are not versioned on Apple platforms, which is
wrong. Also, the shared library .bundle which is what Apple recommends
instead of .so, are also versioned (not to be confound with the
different Core Foundation bundles, which are directory hierarchy).

"Loadable modules, called bundles in Mac OS X, have the file type
MH_BUNDLE. Most Unix-based software ports usually produce bundles with a

The process of loading a plugin is examplified by the qLoadPlugin
function (though not all users of QFactoryLoader use this function, they
all do something similar):

QFactoryLoader::indexOf already locked the mutex, but not
QFactoryLoader::instance. This commit fixes that.
Note that calling the virtual create() in the plugin's factory is not
protected by the mutex. Each plugin's factory must be thread-safe and
also create an object that works on any thread too. It's also the
responsibility of the caller of qLoadPlugin to ensure that it's called
thread-safely.

As of version 10.12 (Sierra), the name of Apple's desktop operating
system will be macOS. Change the occurrences where the Mac platform
is discussed to use a macro \macos, which expands to 'macOS'. This
helps with adapting to future renaming.
Update the instructions on mac-specific Q_OS_* macro usage.
Add a \target for the old 'Qt for OS X' topic to keep links working
for other documentation modules that try to link with the old name.

These new functions use a 64-bit integer in the API, instead of the
broken 32-bit unsigned integer that the previous xxxTime_t functions
used. That was a design flaw when the API was introduced back in Qt 4.2,
so I'm deprecating the API and slating it for removal in 6.0.
The changes to qfilesystemmetadata_p.h and quuid.cpp are necessary to
build the bootstrap library. The rest of the adaptation to the new API
will come in the next commit.
[ChangeLog][QtCore][QDateTime] Introduced toSecsSinceEpoch,
fromSecsSinceEpoch and setSecsSinceEpoch functions, which use 64-bit
integers to represent the number of seconds.
[ChangeLog][QtCore][QDateTime] The toTime_t, fromTime_t and setTime_t
functions are deprecated and will be removed in Qt 6.0. For new code,
use the equivalent functions with "SecsSinceEpoch" in the name, or the
equivalent ones with millisecond accurancy that have existed since
Qt 4.7.

Old versions of OpenBSD and NetBSD mkspecs had the QT_AOUT_UNDERSCORE
define declared in their qplatformdefs.h to support systems still
using a.out format. As those systems are long obsolete and the defines
are removed, remove the obsolete code, too.

It's interesting that the HMODULE/HINSTANCE pointer points to something
in the actual module that got loaded, so we can use its value as
"address of something in the module" for GetModuleHandleEx. The "PIN"
flag tells the Windows DLL loader to never unload.

QPluginLoader hasn't unloaded in its destructor since Qt 5.0, but we
missed the equivalent code in QFactoryLoader (which bypasses
QPluginLoader). Besides, QPluginLoader::unload() was still doing
unloading, which it won't anymore.
Not unloading plugins is Qt's policy, as decided during the 5.0
development process and reaffirmed now in 5.6. This is due to static
data in plugins leaking out and remaining in use past the unloading of
the plugin, causing crashes.
This does not affect QLibrary and QLibrary::unload(). Those are meant
for non-Qt loadable modules, so unloading them may be safe.

We don't need to include Q_QDOC in the forward-declarations of the native
types, and Q_FORWARD_DECLARE_OBJC_CLASS works in non-Objective-C mode as
well, which means we can declare the Objective-C versions of the functions
without guards.

-ldl option was used unconditionally while libdl is not supported
when libc is static.
Add build test to configure which checks if libdl is supported.
QMAKE_LIBS_DYNLOAD in "src/corelib/plugin/plugin.pri" is now used only
if libdl is available.
qt_linux_find_symbol_sys from qlibrary_unix is now used only if
QT_NO_DYNAMIC_LIBRARY is not defined.

The latter is much faster as it doesn't have to deal with
time zones.
This change handles the trivial ones: Either the call to
currentDateTime() is immediately followed by a call to toUTC()
or toTime_t(). The latter is much faster on UTC QDateTimes, too.

taken.

A \target whose purpose is to link to the top of a
page (and not to a section within a page) works better
as a \keyword, because \target generates a
new html anchor which, in this case, is not tied to
any title element on the page.
A \keyword links to the page itself, as expected.

Both e_shentsize and e_shtrndx are ELF half-words, which means C
integers of rank less than int (they're quint16). That means this
multiplcation was done actually as int, due to integer promotion from
unsigned short. So preempt the integer promotion and force them to full-
word integers (unsigned int).
While the bit-pattern result of the multiplication is the same, the
addition with e_shoff (a qelfoff_t = quintptr) wouldn't: the promotion
from 32-bit int to 64-bit would first execute a sign-extension.
Now, this shouldn't happen on regular ELF files, but it cause QLibrary
to crash if a specially-crafted (or simply corrupt) plugin is found.

We keep two symbols from QPluginLoader defined, even if QT_NO_LIBRARY
is set in order to be able to locate static plugins. This doesn't
constitute any loading of shared libraries or plugins from external
files at runtime.
Using these symbols we can enable most of QFactoryLoader even if
QT_NO_LIBRARY is set. Only update(), refreshAll(), library() and
the dtor make no sense then. This way QGenericPlugin also becomes
useful with QT_NO_LIBRARY.

By making the destructor (usually the first non-inline, non-pure,
virtual function, and therefore the trigger for most compilers to
emit the vtable and type_info structures for the class in that TU)
out-of-line, vtables and, more importantly, type_info structures for
the class are pinned to a single TU. This prevents false negative
dynamic_cast and catch evaluation.
In this second and last batch, we de-inline destructors of exported
public classes.
Since they are already exported, users of these classes are unaffected
by the change, but since it's public API, and the dtors may have been
de-virtualized and inlined into application code, we need to avoid
adding code to the out-of-line destructor until Qt 6.
