Ivan Solovev d999e64692 QPoint(F): use comparison helper macros
Explicitly add QPointF vs QPoint comparison. Previously such
comparison was implicitly converting QPoint to QPointF, and
doing the fuzzy comparison. We have to keep the old behavior to
avoid breaking user code, so explicitly use fuzzy comparison in
the new operators.

As a drive-by: move the friend functions into the private section,
so that they are actually hidden friends.

Thiago Macieira 1ed0dd88a3 QThread/Unix: make QThreadPrivate::finish() be called much later
We need it to run after all the thread-local destructors have run, to
ensure that some user code hasn't run after QThreadPrivate::finish() has
finished. We achieve that by making it get called from a thread-local
destructor itself, in the form of a qScopeGuard.

This ought to have been done since C++11 thread_local with non-trivial
destructors became available. However, it only started showing up after
commit 4a93285b16 began using thread_local
inside Qt itself. The visible symptom was that QThreadPrivate::finish()
had already destroyed the thread's event dispatcher, but some user code
ran later and expected it to still exist (or, worse, recreated it, via
QEventLoop → QThreadData::ensureEventDispatcher).

Edward Welbourne a2566e139f Extend QTest::failOnWarning() to a no-parameter fail-on-any-warning
Many users (albeit mostly in qtdeclarative) of failOnWarning() are
passing a catch-all regexp, which is only supported when regular
expression support is enabled. Make their lives easier and those
checks independent of the feature by adding a third overload, taking
no parameter, that fails on any (unanticipated) warning.

Implementation is trivial - just put a null QVariant in
failOnWarningList; it won't match either check on the entry that might
exempt a test from failing on a warning, so any warning at all will
trigger failure.

[ChangeLog][QtTest] QTest::failOnWarning() now has a no-parameter
overload to support the common case of fail-on-any-warning, without
needing to construct a match-everything regular expression.

Thiago Macieira 39e156e639 QResource: obey the MapPrivateOption option to provide RW memory
The documentation says:

The mapping will have the same open mode as the file (read and/or
write), except when using MapPrivateOption, in which case it is always
possible to write to the mapped memory.

So obey it.

This may cause high memory use by copying data we already have. This may
be important because applications may want to memory-map resources which
they intentionally didn't compress because those resources are
large. Later commits will implement some workarounds.

Edward Welbourne 42e4e1816a Fix handling of am/pm indicators in mapping from CLDR to Qt formats
Both qlocale_mac.mm and dateconverter.py were mapping the CLDR am/pm
indicator, 'a', to the Qt format token 'AP', forcing the indicator to
uppercase. The LDML spec [0] says:

May be upper or lowercase depending on the locale and other
    options.

[0] https://www.unicode.org/reports/tr35/tr35-68/tr35-dates.html#Date_Field_Symbol_Table
We don't support the "other options" mentioned, but we can at least
(since 6.3) preserve the the locale-appropriate case, instead of
forcing upper-case. As such, this change is a follow-up to
commit 4641ff0f6a

Changes locale data, as expected, to use "Ap" in place of "AP" in
various formats in the time_format_data[] array.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QLocale] Where CLDR specifies an am/pm indicator,
the case of the CLDR-supplied indicator is used, where previously
QLocale forced it to upper-case.

Edward Welbourne d778d17b9f Cope with CLDR's "day period" format specifiers
The LDML spec includes a 'b' pattern character which is like the 'a'
pattern, for AM and PM, but would rather use noon and midnight
indicators for those specific times. We don't support those and using
am/pm will be right enough of the time to be better than simply
discarding this option, if it ever gets used (which it currently
isn't), so treat as an alias for 'a'. No locale in CLDR currently uses
this.

CLDR also has a 'B' specifiers for "flexible day periods", including
things like "at night" and "in the day". At present only zh_Hant uses
'B'. As a result, this change only affects zh_Hant's formats for time
and datetime, which only zh_Hant_TW uses - zh_Hant_HK overrides them
to use am/pm markers and zh_Hant_MO inherits that from
zh_Hant_HK. Based on this and user feed-back, I've opted to treat 'B'
as another synonym of 'a'.

This removes an entry from the time_format_data[] table (it happened
to occupy one whole twelve-character row), causing many other locales'
offsets into that table to be shifted by 12. Only zh_Hant_TW has an
actual change to which entry in the table it uses.
Added a test-case.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QLocale] CLDR's 'B' (flexible day period, e.g. "at
night" &c.) field, not currently supported, is now handled as a
synonym for the AM/PM field 'a', instead of leaving the B as literal
text. Only affects zh_TW at present.

Thiago Macieira d4c7da9a07 CBOR: fix sorting of UTF16-to-UTF16 strings
This amends commit 394788c68e (its
ChangeLog applies to this commit too). That fixed sorting of UTF8-to-
UTF16, but when adding more unit tests, I've discovered that some UTF-16
strings also sorted incorrectly. There were two problems:

First, we were assuming that we could rely on the UTF-16 length as a
proxy for the UTF-8 one, but that's not true for some cases:
* both 1-, 2- and 3-codepoint UTF-8 sequences are 1 codepoint
in UTF-16, so some strings would have identical UTF-16 length
* 4-codepoint UTF-8 sequences shrink to 2-codepoint UTF-16 ones
  (2:1) but 3-codepoint UTF-8 sequences shrink to 1 (3:1), so
some strings would be longer in UTF-16 but shorter in UTF-8.

Second, QtPrivate::compareStrings performs UTF-16 codepoint comparisons
not Unicode character ones, so surrogate pairs were sorting before
U+E000 to U+FFFF.

To fix all of this, we need to decode the UTF-16 string into UTF-32 and
calculate the length of that in UTF-8 to be sure we have the sorting
order right.

Since this is a slight behavior change with a performance penalty, I am
choosing to backport only to 6.7. The penalty mostly does not apply to
6.8 due to commit 61556627f2.

Ivan Solovev aab82ff367 tst_qstringapisymmetry: add qCompareThreeWay() checks
Check that all string-like types implement compareThreeWay() as a
(hidden) friend function.

This test revealed some problems: because QByteArrayView is implicitly
constructible from QLatin1StringView, the qCompareThreeWay() call
sometimes picked the compareThreeWay() overloads with QByteArrayView
instead of picking the "reversed" overloads that use QLatin1StringView.
This was leading to wrong results, because QByteArrayView is
interpreted as utf-8 data, not latin-1.

Explicitly add the missing compareThreeWay() and comparesEqual()
overloads.

Note that relational operators were never affected by this problem,
because in C++17 mode we explicitly generate the reversed versions,
and in C++20 mode the compiler does that for us.

Jarek Kobus 63b2cf8a45 QFutureWatcher: Fix race for initial emission of resultReadyAt()
When connecting a QFutureWatcher to the QFuture it will connect to the
output interface, which will queue up events to notify about the current
state. This happens in the thread of the QFutureWatcher.

Since 07d6d31a4c unfortunately the sending
of those events was done outside the lock, meaning the worker-thread
could _also_ send events at the same time, leading to a race on which
events would be sent first.

To fix this we move the emission of the events back into the lock
and because it is now inside the lock again anyway, we will revert
back to posting the callout events immediately, so this patch also
partially reverts 07d6d31a4c

Ivan Solovev 5ea434b09f QOperatingSystemVersion: use partial ordering for relational operators
QOperatingSystemVersion intentionally does not define operator==() and
operator!=() since ae072cd9c4.
It means that we cannot use comparison helper macros.

Still, we can manually define four relational operators or
operator<=>() in C++20 mode, and give the class a partial ordering.
We choose partial ordering, because versions of different OS types are
incomparable.

Implement the operators in terms of helper function compareThreeWay(),
which potentially allows to use this class in some templated code.

As a drive-by: make the static compare() function noexcept, because
it really is.

Ivan Solovev e55ee873e9 QTypeRevision: use comparison helper macros
QTypeRevision consists of two quint8 values: major and minor version.
Each of the versions can be unknown.
The rules for comparing with the unknown version are as follows:

zero version < unknown version < non-zero version

At the same time, two unknown versions are considered equal.

This makes the comparison a bit tricky, but it still fits into the
category of strong ordering.

Replace the existing friend relational operators with helper functions
and comparison helper macros, making this type strongly ordered.

Update the unit-tests to use the new comparison helper test functions.
As the test functions check the reversed arguments as well, we can
reduce the number of rows for the data-driven comparison test.

Thiago Macieira 55959aefab qHash: implement an AES hasher for QLatin1StringView
It's the same aeshash() as before, except we're passing a template
parameter to indicate whether to read half and then zero-extend the
data. That is, it will perform a conversion from Latin1 on the fly.

When running in zero-extending mode, the length parameters are actually
doubled (counting the number of UTF-16 code units) and we then divide
again by 2 when advancing.

The implementation should have the following performance
characteristics:
* QLatin1StringView now will be roughly half as fast as Qt 6.7
* QLatin1StringView now will be roughly as fast as QStringView

For the aeshash128() in default builds of QtCore (will use SSE4.1), the
long loop (32 characters or more) is:

      QStringView QLatin1StringView
    movdqu -0x20(%rax),%xmm4 | pmovzxbw -0x10(%rdx),%xmm2
    movdqu -0x10(%rax),%xmm5 | pmovzxbw -0x8(%rdx),%xmm3
    add $0x20,%rax | add $0x10,%rdx
    pxor %xmm4,%xmm0 | pxor %xmm2,%xmm0
    pxor %xmm5,%xmm1 | pxor %xmm3,%xmm1
    aesenc %xmm0,%xmm0 aesenc %xmm0,%xmm0
    aesenc %xmm1,%xmm1 aesenc %xmm1,%xmm1
    aesenc %xmm0,%xmm0 aesenc %xmm0,%xmm0
    aesenc %xmm1,%xmm1 aesenc %xmm1,%xmm1

The number of instructions is identical, but there are actually 2 more
uops per iteration. LLVM-MCA simulation shows this should execute in the
same number of cycles on older CPUs that do not have support for VAES
(see <https://analysis.godbolt.org/z/x95Mrfrf7>).

For the VAES version in aeshash256() and the AVX10 version in
aeshash256_256():

      QStringView QLatin1StringView
    vpxor -0x40(%rax),%ymm1,%ym | vpmovzxbw -0x20(%rax),%ymm3
    vpxor -0x20(%rax),%ymm0,%ym | vpmovzxbw -0x10(%rax),%ymm2
    add $0x40,%rax | add $0x20,%rax
                                   | vpxor %ymm3,%ymm0,%ymm0
                                   | vpxor %ymm2,%ymm1,%ymm1
    vaesenc %ymm1,%ymm1,%ymm1 <
    vaesenc %ymm0,%ymm0,%ymm0 vaesenc %ymm0,%ymm0,%ymm0
    vaesenc %ymm1,%ymm1,%ymm1 vaesenc %ymm1,%ymm1,%ymm1
    vaesenc %ymm0,%ymm0,%ymm0 vaesenc %ymm0,%ymm0,%ymm0
                                   > vaesenc %ymm1,%ymm1,%ymm1

In this case, the increase in number of instructions matches the
increase in number of uops. The LLVM-MCA simulation says that the
QLatin1StringView version is faster at 11 cycles/iteration vs 14 cyc/it
(see <https://analysis.godbolt.org/z/1Gv1coz13>), but that can't be
right.

* dictionary contains very short entries (6 characters)
* paths-small contains strings of varying length, but very few over 32
* uuids-list contains fixed-length strings (38 characters)
* longstrings is the same but 304 characters
* numbers also a lot contains very short strings (1 to 6 chars)

What this shows:
* For short strings, the performance difference is negligible between
  all three
* For longer strings, QLatin1StringView now costs between 7 and 17% more
than QString on the tested machines instead of up to ~50% less, except on
the older machine (where I think the main QString hashing is suffering
  from memory bandwidth limitations)
* The AES hash implementation is anywhere from 1.6 to 11x faster than
  Siphash
* Murmurhash (marked with asterisk) is much faster than Siphash, but it
only managed to beat the AES hash in one test

Ivan Solovev 285a2a75b4 QVariant: use comparison helper macros
The relational operators were removed in
8652c79df0 with the argument that they
do not have a total order. Back than it was a valid argument, because Qt
did not support any of the C++20 ordering types.

Now Qt has its own implementation for all three ordering types, so we
could technically add relational operators and claim that QVariant
provides partial ordering.

However, that could potentially lead to many bugs and/or unexpected
results, if people start using QVariant as a key in std::map/QMap
containers.

We do not want that to happen, so we only use the helper macros to
implement (in)equality operators.

This commit also extends the unit tests, providing more extensive
testing of (in)equality operators and the pre-existing
QVariant::compare() method.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 7f7b5ff3a1 QSpan: add construction from initializer_list
P2447 has been merged in C++26, backport the same functionality.

This makes QSpan<const T> a proper replacement for a const QList<T>&
parameter, because now both can be built via a braced-init-list.

  // void f(const QList<int> &l); // old
  void f(QSpan<const int>); // new

  f({1, 2, 3}); // now OK

This is, technically speaking, SiC: in the presence of both `f`
overloads, the code above would have called the QList one. Now instead
the call is ambiguous.

We've been there already -- this is QString and QStringView all over
again, and the solution is the same: get rid of the owning container
overload. I'd rather have this construction *sooner* rather than *later*
in order to minimize the fallout.

And just like QString vs QStringView, there's nothing really doable to
prevent instant-dangling situations:

  QStringView v = getString();    // dangles
  QSpan<const int> s = {1, 2, 3}; // ditto

except for using QSpan (QStringView) as a *parameter type only*.

Note that QSpan with dynamic extent was already convertible from
std::initializer_list through its ranged constructor. However this fact
alone doesn't unlock the above syntax. QSpan with a static extent was
also convertible for the same reason. (This is non-standard:
std::span's range constructor for static extents is explicit, but QSpan
doesn't follow that design choice and makes the constructors implicit
instead.)

Ahmad Samir 4bc0834bc1 Timers: add Qt::TimerId enum class
Which will be used to represent timer IDs. Thanks to Marc for the idea
to use "a strongly typed int".

QTimer got a new id() method that returns Qt::TimerId (can't overload
timerId()). Various classes in qtbase have a member named timerId(), but
a new method is needed anyway in QTimer so id() it is (this is the
reason QChronoTimer only has id() and no timerId()). Besides
timer.timerId() has an extra "timer".

This commit fixes the inconsistency between QObject using `0` timer id
to indicate "failed to start", while QTimer::timerId() returned `-1` to
indicate "timer is inactive". QTimer::id(), being a new method and all,
now returns Qt::TimerId::Invalid, which has value `0`, so that the
values match between the two classes. Extend the unittests to ensure
QTimer::timerId()'s behavior is preserved.

[ChangeLog][Core][QObject] Added Qt::TimerId enum class, that is used to
represent timer IDs.

Ahmad Samir bd764cc1ca Add QChronoTimer, a timer with nanoseconds precision
The interval in QTimer is a QProperty of type int, which means it's
limited to the number of milliseconds that would fit in an int (~24
days), this could cause overflow if a user constructs a QTimer with an
interval > INT_MAX milliseconds. And it can't be easily changed to use
qint64/std::chrono::nanoseconds:
  - changing the getters to return qint64 means user code would have
    narrowing conversions
  - the bindable QProperty interval can't be changed to qint64 during
Qt6's lifetime without the risk of breaking user code
  - adding a new bindable QProperty that is qint64/nanoseconds is an
option, but it has the complication of what to do with the int
interval; set it when setInterval(milliseconds) is used by using
saturation arithmetic? and what about notifying observers of the
    changed interval?

Thus the idea of creating a new stop-gap class, QChronoTimer, as a
cleaner solution. Both classes use QTimerPrivate.

During the lifetime of Qt6, QTimer's interval range is about 24 days,
whereas QChronoTimer's interval range is about 292 years
(duration_cast<years>nanoseconds::max()).

Currently the plan is to fold QChronotTimer back into QTimer in Qt7.

Mark all QPropertyS in the new class as FINAL since they aren't
intended to be overridden; this offers a performance boost for QML[1].

This allows to remove the last dummy relational operators and the

Because of a bug in libstdc++[0], we have to explicitly keep the
QBA vs QBA relational operators even in C++20 mode. This problem is
specific to QByteArray, because it is convertible to const void *.

Ivan Solovev ee612626f9 Q(Latin1)Char: use comparison helper macros
Replace the existing friend relational operators with the macros.

Add the previously-missing QChar vs `const char *` relational operators.
These require out-of-line helper methods, because we need to interpret
the `const char *` array as utf-8.
The `const char *` relational operators cause ambiguities when
comparing QChar with 0 (previously it was only handled by the nullptr_t
overloads). As we have it in several places in our tests, I'd assume
that the users can also do it. To resolve the ambiguities, mark the
new relational operators as Q_WEAK_OVERLOADs.

This allows to remove the dummy QChar vs `const char *` relational
operators from tst_qstringapisymmetry, but at the same time requires
that we introduce new dummy operators for QByteArray vs char16_t
comparison. These will be fixed in a follow-up patch.

For QLatin1Char - convert to uchar before doing the comparison, to
match the behavior of QLatin1StringView and QChar. Extend QChar's
unit tests.

Ivan Solovev e2e21bcb2d QString: use comparison helper macros - missing string views [3/3]
The comparison with QStringView works as is, there is no need to add
explicit operators.
Add the missing relational operators with QUtf8StringView. Once it
is added, comparison of QString with u8"string literal" becomes
ambiguous, so explicitly add operators for `const char8_t*` as well.
This also makes the comparison with u8 string literals faster,
because it now uses a view instead of constructing a QString.

Adding QUtf8StringView overloads also makes comparison with
`const char *` ambiguous if QT_RESTRICTED_CAST_FROM_ASCII is defined.
To fix that, mark the overload as Q_WEAK_OVERLOAD. Luckily, we can
just use the third Attributes parameter of the macro for that.

Provide more unit-tests to cover the new relational operators.
