Tatiana Borisova 2b2cd119e1 QCborValueConstRef/QCborValueRef: use new comparison helper macros
Replace public operators operator==() and operator!=() of
QCborValueConstRef and QCborValueRef classes
to friend methods comparesEqual().
Replace public operator<() of QCborValueConstRef and QCborValueRef
classes to friend methods compareThreeWay() respectively.

Use QT_CORE_REMOVED_SINCE to get rid of current comparison methods
and replace them with a friend.

Delete #if 0 && __has_include(<compare>) blocks,
since they are not required anymore.

Add comparison() test-case for QCborValueConstRef/QCborValueRef
testing.

Add QCborValue::operator==()/QCborValue::operator!=()/
QCborValue::operator<() and QCborValueRef::operator==()/
QCborValueRef::operator!=()/QCborValueRef::operator<() operators
to the removed_api file.

Ivan Solovev aab82ff367 tst_qstringapisymmetry: add qCompareThreeWay() checks
Check that all string-like types implement compareThreeWay() as a
(hidden) friend function.

This test revealed some problems: because QByteArrayView is implicitly
constructible from QLatin1StringView, the qCompareThreeWay() call
sometimes picked the compareThreeWay() overloads with QByteArrayView
instead of picking the "reversed" overloads that use QLatin1StringView.
This was leading to wrong results, because QByteArrayView is
interpreted as utf-8 data, not latin-1.

Explicitly add the missing compareThreeWay() and comparesEqual()
overloads.

Note that relational operators were never affected by this problem,
because in C++17 mode we explicitly generate the reversed versions,
and in C++20 mode the compiler does that for us.

Ahmad Samir 886eb76aea QAbstractFileEngine: add a path parameter to beginEntryList()
Change beginEntryList() to take a path parameter, which it passes on
to the QAFEIterator constructor; setting the path at construction
makes more sense, because typically the path isn't supposed to change
during iteration, and this simplifies the code at the call site.

Remove setPath(), the last usage in Qt repos was in QtCreator, and that
has been ported away from it.

Jarek Kobus 63b2cf8a45 QFutureWatcher: Fix race for initial emission of resultReadyAt()
When connecting a QFutureWatcher to the QFuture it will connect to the
output interface, which will queue up events to notify about the current
state. This happens in the thread of the QFutureWatcher.

Since 07d6d31a4c unfortunately the sending
of those events was done outside the lock, meaning the worker-thread
could _also_ send events at the same time, leading to a race on which
events would be sent first.

To fix this we move the emission of the events back into the lock
and because it is now inside the lock again anyway, we will revert
back to posting the callout events immediately, so this patch also
partially reverts 07d6d31a4c

Ivan Solovev 5ea434b09f QOperatingSystemVersion: use partial ordering for relational operators
QOperatingSystemVersion intentionally does not define operator==() and
operator!=() since ae072cd9c4.
It means that we cannot use comparison helper macros.

Still, we can manually define four relational operators or
operator<=>() in C++20 mode, and give the class a partial ordering.
We choose partial ordering, because versions of different OS types are
incomparable.

Implement the operators in terms of helper function compareThreeWay(),
which potentially allows to use this class in some templated code.

As a drive-by: make the static compare() function noexcept, because
it really is.

Ivan Solovev e55ee873e9 QTypeRevision: use comparison helper macros
QTypeRevision consists of two quint8 values: major and minor version.
Each of the versions can be unknown.
The rules for comparing with the unknown version are as follows:

 zero version < unknown version < non-zero version

At the same time, two unknown versions are considered equal.

This makes the comparison a bit tricky, but it still fits into the
category of strong ordering.

Replace the existing friend relational operators with helper functions
and comparison helper macros, making this type strongly ordered.

Update the unit-tests to use the new comparison helper test functions.
As the test functions check the reversed arguments as well, we can
reduce the number of rows for the data-driven comparison test.

Thiago Macieira 55959aefab qHash: implement an AES hasher for QLatin1StringView
It's the same aeshash() as before, except we're passing a template
parameter to indicate whether to read half and then zero-extend the
data. That is, it will perform a conversion from Latin1 on the fly.

When running in zero-extending mode, the length parameters are actually
doubled (counting the number of UTF-16 code units) and we then divide
again by 2 when advancing.

The implementation should have the following performance
characteristics:
* QLatin1StringView now will be roughly half as fast as Qt 6.7
* QLatin1StringView now will be roughly as fast as QStringView

For the aeshash128() in default builds of QtCore (will use SSE4.1), the
long loop (32 characters or more) is:

      QStringView                             QLatin1StringView
    movdqu -0x20(%rax),%xmm4       |        pmovzxbw -0x10(%rdx),%xmm2
    movdqu -0x10(%rax),%xmm5       |        pmovzxbw -0x8(%rdx),%xmm3
    add    $0x20,%rax              |        add    $0x10,%rdx
    pxor   %xmm4,%xmm0             |        pxor   %xmm2,%xmm0
    pxor   %xmm5,%xmm1             |        pxor   %xmm3,%xmm1
    aesenc %xmm0,%xmm0                      aesenc %xmm0,%xmm0
    aesenc %xmm1,%xmm1                      aesenc %xmm1,%xmm1
    aesenc %xmm0,%xmm0                      aesenc %xmm0,%xmm0
    aesenc %xmm1,%xmm1                      aesenc %xmm1,%xmm1

The number of instructions is identical, but there are actually 2 more
uops per iteration. LLVM-MCA simulation shows this should execute in the
same number of cycles on older CPUs that do not have support for VAES
(see <https://analysis.godbolt.org/z/x95Mrfrf7>).

For the VAES version in aeshash256() and the AVX10 version in
aeshash256_256():

      QStringView                             QLatin1StringView
    vpxor  -0x40(%rax),%ymm1,%ym   |        vpmovzxbw -0x20(%rax),%ymm3
    vpxor  -0x20(%rax),%ymm0,%ym   |        vpmovzxbw -0x10(%rax),%ymm2
    add    $0x40,%rax              |        add    $0x20,%rax
                                   |        vpxor  %ymm3,%ymm0,%ymm0
                                   |        vpxor  %ymm2,%ymm1,%ymm1
    vaesenc %ymm1,%ymm1,%ymm1      <
    vaesenc %ymm0,%ymm0,%ymm0               vaesenc %ymm0,%ymm0,%ymm0
    vaesenc %ymm1,%ymm1,%ymm1               vaesenc %ymm1,%ymm1,%ymm1
    vaesenc %ymm0,%ymm0,%ymm0               vaesenc %ymm0,%ymm0,%ymm0
                                   >        vaesenc %ymm1,%ymm1,%ymm1

In this case, the increase in number of instructions matches the
increase in number of uops. The LLVM-MCA simulation says that the
QLatin1StringView version is faster at 11 cycles/iteration vs 14 cyc/it
(see <https://analysis.godbolt.org/z/1Gv1coz13>), but that can't be
right.

Measured performance of CPU cycles, on an Intel Core i9-7940X (Skylake,
no VAES support), normalized on the QString performance (QByteArray is
used as a stand-in for the performance in Qt 6.7):

                        aeshash              |  siphash

* dictionary contains very short entries (6 characters)
* paths-small contains strings of varying length, but very few over 32
* uuids-list contains fixed-length strings (38 characters)
* longstrings is the same but 304 characters
* numbers also a lot contains very short strings (1 to 6 chars)

What this shows:
* For short strings, the performance difference is negligible between
  all three
* For longer strings, QLatin1StringView now costs between 7 and 17% more
  than QString on the tested machines instead of up to ~50% less, except on
  the older machine (where I think the main QString hashing is suffering
  from memory bandwidth limitations)
* The AES hash implementation is anywhere from 1.6 to 11x faster than
  Siphash
* Murmurhash (marked with asterisk) is much faster than Siphash, but it
  only managed to beat the AES hash in one test

 * equals_range
 * find
 * operator[] (const only)

Ivan Solovev 285a2a75b4 QVariant: use comparison helper macros
The relational operators were removed in
8652c79df0 with the argument that they
do not have a total order. Back than it was a valid argument, because Qt
did not support any of the C++20 ordering types.

Now Qt has its own implementation for all three ordering types, so we
could technically add relational operators and claim that QVariant
provides partial ordering.

However, that could potentially lead to many bugs and/or unexpected
results, if people start using QVariant as a key in std::map/QMap
containers.

We do not want that to happen, so we only use the helper macros to
implement (in)equality operators.

This commit also extends the unit tests, providing more extensive
testing of (in)equality operators and the pre-existing
QVariant::compare() method.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 7f7b5ff3a1 QSpan: add construction from initializer_list
P2447 has been merged in C++26, backport the same functionality.

This makes QSpan<const T> a proper replacement for a const QList<T>&
parameter, because now both can be built via a braced-init-list.

  // void f(const QList<int> &l); // old
  void f(QSpan<const int>);       // new

  f({1, 2, 3});                   // now OK

This is, technically speaking, SiC: in the presence of both `f`
overloads, the code above would have called the QList one. Now instead
the call is ambiguous.

We've been there already -- this is QString and QStringView all over
again, and the solution is the same: get rid of the owning container
overload. I'd rather have this construction *sooner* rather than *later*
in order to minimize the fallout.

And just like QString vs QStringView, there's nothing really doable to
prevent instant-dangling situations:

  QStringView v = getString();    // dangles
  QSpan<const int> s = {1, 2, 3}; // ditto

except for using QSpan (QStringView) as a *parameter type only*.

Note that QSpan with dynamic extent was already convertible from
std::initializer_list through its ranged constructor. However this fact
alone doesn't unlock the above syntax. QSpan with a static extent was
also convertible for the same reason. (This is non-standard:
std::span's range constructor for static extents is explicit, but QSpan
doesn't follow that design choice and makes the constructors implicit
instead.)

Ahmad Samir 4bc0834bc1 Timers: add Qt::TimerId enum class
Which will be used to represent timer IDs. Thanks to Marc for the idea
to use "a strongly typed int".

QTimer got a new id() method that returns Qt::TimerId (can't overload
timerId()). Various classes in qtbase have a member named timerId(), but
a new method is needed anyway in QTimer so id() it is (this is the
reason QChronoTimer only has id() and no timerId()). Besides
timer.timerId() has an extra "timer".

This commit fixes the inconsistency between QObject using `0` timer id
to indicate "failed to start", while QTimer::timerId() returned `-1` to
indicate "timer is inactive". QTimer::id(), being a new method and all,
now returns Qt::TimerId::Invalid, which has value `0`, so that the
values match between the two classes. Extend the unittests to ensure
QTimer::timerId()'s behavior is preserved.

[ChangeLog][Core][QObject] Added Qt::TimerId enum class, that is used to
represent timer IDs.

Ahmad Samir bd764cc1ca Add QChronoTimer, a timer with nanoseconds precision
The interval in QTimer is a QProperty of type int, which means it's
limited to the number of milliseconds that would fit in an int (~24
days), this could cause overflow if a user constructs a QTimer with an
interval > INT_MAX milliseconds. And it can't be easily changed to use
qint64/std::chrono::nanoseconds:
  - changing the getters to return qint64 means user code would have
    narrowing conversions
  - the bindable QProperty interval can't be changed to qint64 during
    Qt6's lifetime without the risk of breaking user code
  - adding a new bindable QProperty that is qint64/nanoseconds is an
    option, but it has the complication of what to do with the int
    interval; set it when setInterval(milliseconds) is used by using
    saturation arithmetic? and what about notifying observers of the
    changed interval?

Thus the idea of creating a new stop-gap class, QChronoTimer, as a
cleaner solution. Both classes use QTimerPrivate.

During the lifetime of Qt6, QTimer's interval range is about 24 days,
whereas QChronoTimer's interval range is about 292 years
(duration_cast<years>nanoseconds::max()).

Currently the plan is to fold QChronotTimer back into QTimer in Qt7.

Mark all QPropertyS in the new class as FINAL since they aren't
intended to be overridden; this offers a performance boost for QML[1].

Replace the existing friend relational operators with the macros.

Add the previously-missing QChar vs `const char *` relational operators.
These require out-of-line helper methods, because we need to interpret
the `const char *` array as utf-8.
The `const char *` relational operators cause ambiguities when
comparing QChar with 0 (previously it was only handled by the nullptr_t

that the users can also do it. To resolve the ambiguities, mark the
new relational operators as Q_WEAK_OVERLOADs.

This allows to remove the dummy QChar vs `const char *` relational

The comparison with QStringView works as is, there is no need to add
explicit operators.
Add the missing relational operators with QUtf8StringView. Once it
is added, comparison of QString with u8"string literal" becomes
ambiguous, so explicitly add operators for `const char8_t*` as well.
This also makes the comparison with u8 string literals faster,
because it now uses a view instead of constructing a QString.

Adding QUtf8StringView overloads also makes comparison with
`const char *` ambiguous if QT_RESTRICTED_CAST_FROM_ASCII is defined.

This class offers a forward-only const_iterator, that matches the system
low-level functions' logic (e.g. readdir()/dirstream logic). This
iterator is a std::input_iterator_tag.

QDirIterator uses Java-style iterators that have a couple of issues:
- They don't fit the logic of the underlying native system functions
  (readdir()/__dirstream and co.), there is no way to know if there is a
  next entry except by advancing the iterator (calling readdir()) first
- As a consequence of the above, two QFileInfo objects, current and next,
  had to be used to fit that paradigm; and the code always
  iterated/stat'ed an extra entry past the one we want, e.g. when
  filtering

The next step is porting QAbstractFileEngineIterator and its subclasses
to be like QFileSystemIterator, i.e. replace hasNext()/next() with a `bool
advance()` virtual method. This is easier to reason about than the
Java-style iterators, and is more in-line with the new class.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 7ce6920aac Containers: add max_size()
One more method for STL compatibility.
This one is particularly subtle as it's required by the
`reservable-container` concept:

https://eel.is/c++draft/ranges#range.utility.conv.general-3

Without this concept, ranges::to won't reserve() before copying the
elements (out of a sized range which isn't a common_range).

Implementation notes: there were already a couple of constants denoting
the maximum QByteArray and QString size. Centralize that implementation
in QTypedArrayData, so that QList can use it too.

The maximum allocation size (private constant) needs a even more central
place so that even QVLA can use it. Lacking anything better, I've put it
in qcontainerfwd.h.

Since our containers aren't allocator-aware, I can make max_size() a
static member, and replace the existing constants throughout the rest of
qtbase. (I can't kill them yet as they're used by other submodules.)

Thiago Macieira 03f1ea3dcb tst_qmessagehandler: disable the backtrace tests outside of x86
As the comment says, on most RISC platforms, the return address need not
be on the stack in the first place. In fact, in all ones currently
supported by Qt, it's passed in a register to the callee, which has the
option of simply saving it in a callee-save register when calling leaf
functions. Even if it is using a frame pointer, the compiler can simply
use any register. That means unwinding the stack is not possible in the
absence of either debug information or stack-unwind information, neither
of which backtrace(3) will use.

Strictly speaking, even on x86 the compiler can use the RBP register for
any purpose and thus make getting the backtrace() impossible, but in
practice it seems to work.

Since we support QString and QList specializations, we should also
support QStringList directly. That's a bit more involved as we need

follows the implementation for lists of objects.

We now need to generate temporary local references when

Ivan Solovev 77bec4f7c8 Simplify QLatin1StringView vs byte array relational operators
Now when QLatin1StringView implements relational operators with
QByteArrayView in terms of new comparison helper macros and helper
methods taking QByteArrayView, we can easily re-use these helper
methods to provide comparison with QByteArray and const char *.

QLatin1StringView already provided almost all of these operations,
partly as hidden friend functions, partly as inline methods.
Since the class is not exported, and the methods were inline, we
can just remove all of them and replace them with the comparison
helper macros.

This should speed up the relational operators, because they do not
construct string objects using QString::fromUtf8() anymore, but use
QUtf8StringView instead.

This also adds the previously missing QByteArray vs QLatin1StringView

Giuseppe D'Angelo 73bf1c1a9b QList: add uninitialized resizes
Creating a QList of a given size, or resizing it to a given size, will
always value-initialize its elements. This commit adds support for
uninitialized construction and resizes. The intended use case is using a
QList as storage-to-be-overwritten:

  QList<int> list(size, Qt::Uninitialized);

  fillWithData(list.data(), list.size);

How do we define "uninitialized":

1) if T is constructible using Qt::Uninitialized, use that;
2) otherwise, default-construct T.

In detail:

1) covers (Qt-ish) datatypes that have a default constructor that
   initializes them, but also a dedicated constructor that doesn't
   initialize (e.g. QPoint, QQuaternion, ...).
2) covers everything else. Default initialization of scalars and
   trivially constructible datatypes will leave them uninitialized.

A type which isn't trivially constructible will still get its default
constructor called (and possibly actually gets initialized); we can't
really do better than that, as we still have to construct objects and
start their lifetimes.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QList] Added support for uninitialized construction
and resizing.

Found in API review, but not deemed important enough to still get into
6.7.

Not implementing it for QMultiMap, because there we need to mod out
order of equivalent elements.

The GHS compiler acted up and tried to compile the noexcept
specification, hitting non-existing qHash(QVariant) for QVariantMap
and producing a hard error instead of SFINAE'ing out. As a
work-around, establish an artificial SFINAE-friendly context, but only
for that compiler.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QMap/QHash] Added qHash() overload for QMap.

Ievgenii Meshcheriakov b2764f7802 QUrl IDNA: Update to Unicode 15.1
Unicode 15.1 (more spcifically UTS #46, revision 31) changes how
host names are processed. The initial Unicode host name mapping
is done without validity checking. That check was used in the past
to mark QUrl's invalid. This patch inserts simplified validity
check later. This check is similar to one performed before
conversion to unicode, but does not include BiDi check to keep
names starting with xn-- valid.

Additional complication is that U+1E9E LATIN CAPITAL LETTER SHARP S
must be mapped to "ss" with transitional processing.

It is not possible anymore to predict whether Qt implementation
considers a URL valid by using only error codes in the tests
vectors file. The test was adjusted to expect an empty string
(indicating invalid QUrl) or string matching the entry in vectors
file if there are any processing errors specified for that entry.

Nicolas Fella 00d9a9a9b5 QIcuTimeZonePrivate constructor: save iteration over all zone IDs
ICU returns a "valid" representation of GMT when given an unrecognised
ID, so QTZ's constructor has been checking the ID is available before
passing it to the backend constructor. That availability check was
done by generating the list of available IDs to see if the given ID
was in it; this is very inefficient. Furthermore, the QTZ constructor
was also checking availability, to work round the same issue in only
this one backend, making the check redundant.

So overide isTimeZoneIdAvailable() in the ICU backend, calling
ucal_getCanonicalTimeZoneID(), which answers the question directly;
and drop the duplicate check in the QTZ constructor. Expand a test to
verify an invalid name is rejected.

old license (still in use, presumably, by UCD - at least until its
next update). Some new QLocale::Language entries are needed. There is
no change to the time-zone data.

Some tests needed changes:
* Various Arabic locales now use U+0623 (Arabic letter aleph with
  hamza above) in exponent separator, replacing plain U+0627 (Arabic
  letter aleph); it is still followed by U+0633 (Arabic letter seen).
* Where likely sub-tags used to fill in world, 001, as territory for a
  language, they now (e.g. for Prussian and Yiddish) give specific
  countries.
* Tamil locales now have something of a mix of inherited and localized
  forms for AM/PM, which looks a lot like a mistake in CLDR.
* New likely sub-tag rules fix ctor(und_US) and ctor(und_GB), which
  previously failed.

Marc Mutz 0808beace3 QBitArray: fix potential truncation in QDataStream op>>()
In Qt 5, a QBitArray could not contain more than INT_MAX bits, because
the then-size_type, int, cannot represent more, even if the underlying
storage could hold 8x as much, and the serialisation format, using
unsigned int, could represent 2x.

Therefore, reject old formats with sizes that exceed INT_MAX elements
as corrupt.

Likewise, the Qt 6 serialisation format unconditionally uses 64-bit
sizes, but 32-bit platforms still cannot represent more than
numeric_limits<qsizetype>::max() (= INT_MAX) bits in memory. This is a
valid stream for 64-bit platforms, though, so ideally, this should be
using SizeLimitsExeeded, which, however, is only available from Qt
6.7. So, for now, and until we have SizeLimitsExeeded, mark the stream
as corrupt here, too.

* Checks that various combinations of language, script and territory

* A test that territory is preserved when it's the only given tag

In the process, give the data-rows of the likely-subtag parts names
that let me extend their testing to also test construction from

Fabian Kosmale ac001bef79 moc/QMetaProperty: Remove limitation on non-own-class notify signals
The moc generated code does a sanity check that NOTIFY signals actually
exist in the parent class when they cannot be found in the class moc
currently runs on.
The logic there was however too simplistic, and couldn't deal with
signals taking a parameter.
Fix this, and take the opportunity to use a proper static_assert instead
of generating a "normal" compile error.

We do not do any checks for the presence of QPrivateSignal, as the whole
point of QPrivateSignal is that it should be private (and not e.g.

Moreover, we adjust QMetaProperty::notifySignalIndex to take
single-argument notify methods into consideration as well when

Tinja Paavoseppä 06d2aa91eb Android: Add a context delegate for embedding QML to native Android
When we are embedding a QML view to a non-Qt Android app, there are a lot
of functionalities that are shared with the refular Qt Android app, but
some are not. We should not, for example, try to control the hosting
Activity.
Create a base class that both the QtActivityDelegate, used for the
standard Qt for Android app, and the delegate for the embedding case
can extend.

In this commit, the QtEmbeddedDelegate is very simple, the
biggest difference to QtActivityDelegate being it does not create
a QtLayout or instantiate a QtAccessibilityDelegate.
It does start the Qt app, without waiting for a layout, and register
to listen for changes in the state of the Qt app.

Taking the embedded delegate into use, loading the embedded QML
views and their handling is added in a follow up commit.

Ivan Solovev 1353c6f857 Introduce macros to simplify testing comparison
The problem with the QTestPrivate::testAllComparisonOperators() and
QTestPrivate::testEqualityOperators() functions is that if they fail,
they point into the helper function, but not into the actual test that
called the helper function. This is specially annoying when some test
calls the helper function multiple times.

This patch introduces the helper macros QT_TEST_ALL_COMPARISON_OPS and
QT_TEST_EQUALITY_OPS that wrap the respective function calls together
with the QTest::currentTestFailed() check. If the test has failed,
the macro generates a meaningful debug message with the original file
name and line number.

Thiago Macieira f5021835df qTo*ViewIgnoringNull: further ignore nulls
Commit ba5db13c8d ("QStringView: add
internal qToStringViewIgnoringNull()") said:

  As long as a null QString still returns non-null data(), QStringView's
  QString constructor needs to call isNull(). That's a branch we often
  can do without, so add an internal function that bypasses this
  correctness check.

  It's internal, since we might have a Q6String that returns nullptr
  data() when null, which will remove the need for this function.

For Qt 6, we made QString and QByteArray be able to return nullptr from
data() when null... but that's not enabled by default yet. However, the
begin() functions do return nullptr, so we can avoid the extra branch
the commit was talking about.

Ahmad Samir 675b4f63fe QIdentityProxyModel: add setHandleSourceLayoutChanges(bool)
Some sub-classes have special handling of source model layout changes
(abbreviated as SMLC from here on out), they relied on disconnecting the
connections to the _q_*layout* slots in the private class using the SLOT
macro. This isn't possible any more after recent changes (and the method
were renamed to remove _q_ prefix).

Sub-classes resorting to using private API is a clear sign some
functionality is missing from the public API, so a cleaner solution for
this issue is adding this setter which enables sub-classes to tell
QIdentityProxyModel to leave handling of the SMLC to them. Thanks to
David Faure for the idea/solution.

Thiago Macieira 948fa2a427 QBitArray: add mutation operators taking rvalue QBitArrays
Because we may be able to use the other side's storage and apply the
operation in-place. We reuse the storage of the one that can be
detached: even if we have to grow the buffer, QBitArrays are usually
small so there's a good chance it's just to the extra space QArrayData
usually overallocates or a simple, non-moving realloc().

Disassembly with GCC 13 and Clang 17 show the vectorisers did kick in
for all four functions (inverted_inplace included). I think a
hand-rolled version could squeeze a few more cycles, especially in the
tail section, but I don't consider its maintenance cost to be worth it.

Arno Rehn 59e21a536f QFuture: Don't use QFutureCallOutInterface for continuations
This patch replaces the QBasicFutureWatcher that was used for
continuations with context objects with a smaller QObject-based wrapper
that works directly from the actual continuation.
The idea stays the same: In order to run continuations in the thread of
a context object, we offload the continuation invocation to the
signal-slot mechanism.
Previously, we've hooked into QFuture with QFutureCallOutInterface to
emit a signal and trigger continuation invocation. However, it is much
easier and robust to emit that signal from the continuation itself.

This sidesteps the locking issues that QFutureCallOutInterface handling
presents. QFutureCallOutInterface basically requires any consumer to
only access the QFuture after all events have been posted and the
internal mutex unlocked, i.e. on the next cycle of the event loop.

Continuations do not impose this restriction; runContinuation()
explicitly unlocks the internal mutex before calling the continuation.

This fixes a deadlock when using QFuture::then(context, ...) where
the paren future is resolved from the same thread that the context
object lives in.

The twentieth century is now some way behind us, so using its years

Marc Mutz 7f5b795f75 QSpan: ensure interoperability with std::span
We accepted QSpan as a NIH-type instead of waiting for C++20 and
std::span, because we said that there's no impedance mismatch between
the two, as they both implicitly convert into each other.

But we actually never checked that they do.

Fix this omission by adding constructors that treat std::span exactly
the same as QSpan itself, and adding the respective static_assert()s
to tst_QSpan to check that (within the constraints imposed by the
standard on std::span), they actually do convert into each other.

The only two problematic cases are that fixed-size std::span
constructors are explicit, so span is only constructible, not
convertible, from QSpan. Likewise, for an rvalue QSpan to be
acceptable to the std::span constructor, QSpan needs to opt-in to
enable_borrowed_range (while we're at it, do enable_view, too).

We so far have rejected adding these opt-ins for our own container
classes because we wanted to avoid the compile-time overhead of
including the huge <ranges> header into such central headers as those
that define our containers.

But std::span itself has to specialize these traits, and its range
contructor has to use them, so they must be available from <span>,
too, possibly the stdlib puts the definition into a much smaller

Because we maintained the test coverage for Qt::partial_ordering, it

Ivan Solovev 96f494bf92 Implement helper Qt::compareThreeWay() function for built-in types
The helper function

 RetType compareThreeWay(const T &left, const T &right) noexcept;

is used for C++20-comparison macros. Normally it's the user's
responsibility to provide this function as a hidden friend of the class
which uses the comparison helper macros.
For built-in types we provide the implementation inside the Qt
namespace.

We have to use custom IsIntegralType trait because libstdc++ only
treats __{u}int128_t types as integral when compiling in -std=gnu++XX
mode, and we compile Qt in -std=c++XX mode.

This patch provides the implementations only for compareThreeWay()
overloads, because there is no need to implement comparesEqual() for
built-in types. It would just be equivalent to calling operator==(),
so the user can do it directly.

Ivan Solovev fe12650e9d Implement compare helper macros
These macros should unwrap into a proper set of equality and ordering
operators, depending on the C++ standard being used.
For C++17, all 6 operators (==, !=, <, >, <=, >=) are overloaded, while
for C++20 only the overloads for opeartor==() and operator<=>() are
provided.

The macros are documented as internal for now.

The macros rely on two helper functions:
  bool comparesEqual(LeftType lhs, RightType rhs);
  ReturnType compareThreeWay(LeftType lhs, RightType rhs);

The comparesEqual() helper function is used to implement operator==()
and operator!=().
The compareThreeWay() helper function is used to implement the four
relational operators in C++17, or operator<=>() in C++20.
ReturnType must be one of Qt::{partial,weak,strong}_ordering.
When possible, the functions should also be declared constexpr and
noexcept.
It's the user's responsibility to provide the functions before
using the macros.

Implement a test case which applies the new macros to the dummy
classes, and uses the new helper function to verify the comparison
results.

The MSVC compiler before version 19.36 has a bug, where it fails
to correctly generate reverse opeerators in C++20 mode. Introduce
a new Q_COMPILER_LACKS_THREE_WAY_COMPARE_SYMMETRY definition for such
compiler versions, and use it to manually generate reversed
operators when needed.

Jøger Hansegård 8d367dec15 Add QUniqueHandle - a general purpose RAII wrapper for non-memory types
When interfacing with C-style APIs, such as the Windows API, resources
are often represented using handle objects. Lifetime management of such
resources can be cumbersome and error prone, because typical handle
objects (ints) do not give any help to release resources, and to manage
ownership.

Although std::unique_ptr can be retro-fitted with a custom deleter, and
helps transfer of ownership, it is inherently a pointer type. It can
therefore be clumsy to use with C-style APIs, particularly if the
invalid (uninitialized) handle value is not a nullptr. Also, the
std::unique_ptr does not work well when an allocating function returns
the handle as a pointer argument.

The QUniqueHandle addresses these issues by providing a movable only
value type that is designed as a RAII handle wrapper.

A similar handle wrapper exists in the Windows SDK, as part of the WRL
library. Unfortunately, this is Microsoft specific, and is not supported
by MINGW.

Since the QUniqueHandle is platform independent, it can be used also

Marc Mutz 51c75ae2ff tst_qxp_is_virtual_base_of: disable all warnings for GCC < 10
The -Winaccessible-base switch was added for GCC 10. Older GCCs had no
way to suppress the warnings, and the existing suppression of
-Winaccessible-base caused a warning of its own:

  qcompilerdetection.h:1125:49: warning: unknown option after ‘#pragma GCC diagnostic’ kind [-Wpragmas]
   1125 | #define QT_DO_PRAGMA(text)                      _Pragma(#text)

     53 | QT_WARNING_DISABLE_GCC("-Winaccessible-base")
        | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Since GCC 8 and 9 are slowly fading away as supported compilers, the
simplest fix to get a clean build is to suppress all warnings for the
test on these compilers, by passing -w, as suggested by
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=90449.

Short of moving the affected code into a separate header file and
applying `#pragma GCC system_header` to it, there appears to be no
other way to get rid of the warning.

* functions that actually verify the comparison results for all

For now it does not test operator<=>(), even if compiled with C++20,

The delegate classes shouldn't be used outside of the Activity/Service
classes, since they're practically private implementation, so don't use

Since Qt Android apps still mainly support having one QtActivity/

For that reason, we still need to use the delegate there. The aim is
to change that in future patches and do the operations where they make
more sense for example directly under QtActivityBase/QtActivityDelegate
or Service counterpart.

The QtServiceDelegate is used no where and have no special

Ivan Solovev e85a3cde2f QSharedMemory: fix attach() -> create() for non-legacy SystemV mode
The problem with non-legacy mode is that the backend uses the same
filename for the system semaphore file and for the shared memory file.

What happens is that when we try to call attach(), a semaphore is
created. Later in attach() we set unix_key, because ftok() returns
a valid handle (it uses the file which was created for semaphore).
After that, an attempt to actually attach to a shared memory fails, but
no clean-up is done.
So, a later call to create() sees that unix_key is already valid, but
it cannot properly clean it, because it does not actually refer to
any shared memory.

Fix it by cleaning up unix_key and nativeKeyFile if shmget() call in
attach() fails.

Edward Welbourne df73672f97 QTimeZone(qint32 offsetSeconds): use IANA ID when one is available
Principle of least surprise: prefer IANA IDs over synthesized ones.
This also aligns what id() returns more nearly with what
availableTimeZoneIds() reports. Amend some tests to match the new
behavior, extend one test to verify id-round-tripping (also for the
IANA zones) and another to verify single-digit offset IDs get
zero-padded.

Document the complications in how id() relates to what is passed to
the constructor. (It was already complicated; the present change just
aligns it better with IANA IDs, where possible.) Mention, in
availableTimeZoneIds(), that (and why) it only includes IANA's offset
IDs. Drive-by: fix a typo in another availableTimeZoneIds() overload's
doc.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QTimeZone] When created from (only) a UTC offset,
or from (only) a non-IANA UTC-offset ID, a QTimeZone instance now uses
an IANA UTC-offset ID, where one is available with a matching offset.
Previously it used a synthesized UTC±hh[:mm[:ss]] one which would omit
trailing :00 for minutes or seconds, which the IANA ID may well
include.

The legacy mode was using the new nativeKey to create a semaphore.
As a result, on macOS the name of the semaphore key file was the same

This patch provides the actual implementation to detect binding loops
in property setters.

These test will help to catch all the existing binding loops that were
introduced when migrating to new bindable properties.

The logic of the new tests is taken from
tst_QObject::objectNameBinding(), but generalized to be applicable to
all bindable properties.

The original code from tst_QObject can now be removed.

The patch effectively reverts f791570b86
because a lambda returning a nullptr now means that the binding loop
test should be skipped, which is not a good default behavior.
Now when all the existing bindable properties are fixed, it's fine to
give a compilation error when adding new tests, if the class is not
default-constructible.
