Assam Boudjelthia 3a4a8398ab Add sdkVersion() to QNativeInterface::QAndroidApplication
The androidSdkVersion() is probably the most used call from
QtAndroidPrivate, so instead of waiting long time for a cross platform
api that could offer this functionality, it's better to have it now
under the NativeInterface.

Alex Trotsenko ca14ed494c QLocalSocket/Win: implement duplex communication in blocking mode
[ChangeLog][QtNetwork][QLocalSocket] The waitFor*() functions on
Windows now support duplex operation, as they already did on Unix.

As a side effect, this restores the behavior that a single call to
waitForReadyRead() won't emit both readyRead() and disconnected(),
which also matches Unix behavior. The groundwork for that misbehavior
was laid by incorrect refactoring in d1a671b69 already, but at this
point it was harmless, as the pipe couldn't be newly closed after a
successful read. That changed with f265c87e0, which made the queuing
of signals async.

Volker Hilsheimer 718d1f88d7 Silence MSVC warning about int/size_t mismatch
Warning was

qmetaobjectbuilder.cpp(1439): warning C4267: '+=': conversion from
'size_t' to 'int', possible loss of data

Instead of adding another cast in that line, fix the warning by making
the size variable a qsizetype, and remove the now unnecessary
static_cast to int.

Edward Welbourne 358df462a0 Fix assertion on matchingLocales(Abhkazian, Any, Any)
CLDR v39 has no locales for Abkhazian, so the locale_index[] entry for
it actually indexes the last entry before the next language up the
enum. This has m_language_id less than Abkhazian.

Assam Boudjelthia 45daea19c3 Fix set*Field JNI template calls
The calls were trying to pass a JNIEnv* from a QJniEnvironment using
conversion operator which was removed, and weren't detected since they
are templates and were missing tests. This fix that and add test cases
for setField() and setStaticField() calls.

Assam Boudjelthia afd7460aff Add new app permissions API under QCoreApplication
The API allows users to request and check the status of various
permissions. A predefined enum class of the common permission types
on different platforms is used to allow requesting permission with
a common code. Platform specific permissions are defined only on their
relevant platform. For permissions that are not predefined, they can
be requested via a string variant of this API.

This adds the Android implementation only.

[ChangeLog][QtCore] Add new API for handling app permissions with an
initial implementation for Android.

Ivan Solovev 8161a9e5c0 QAbstractProxyModel: port to new property system
The biggest trick here is the getter (QAbstractProxyModel::sourceModel),
which is returning nullptr, while internally using a global
staticEmptyModel() instance.
This lead to inconsistency while binding to a proxy model without
source model. The bound object would point to staticEmptyModel()
instance, while sourceModel() getter returns nullptr.
To solve this issue a custom QBindableInterface is implemented.

Edward Welbourne 517745fc9d Ensure setDateTime clears status also when short
Previously, if multiplication overflowed when trying to set the date
and time of a formerly short-form QDateTime, its status didn't get set
to reflect the failed validity check. Added a test that now correctly
detects that it's produced an invalid date-time on overflow, where
previously it produced a wrong valid date-time.

Volker Hilsheimer 5e89c1406e Delete less-than operator for QKeyCombination
QMetaType relies on QTypeTraits to identify whether a type provides
operator<. Due to the the deprecated implicit conversion to int, this
results in several screens of deprecation warnings when using
QKeyCombination in a signal parameter or as a property type.

QKeyCombination has no ordering semantics (is Alt+F5 larger than
Control+Up?), so delete the operator.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QKeyCombination] Potentially source-incompatible change:
the less-than operator for QKeyCombination has been deleted. Code relying
on the deprecated implicit conversion to int will no longer compile.
Use QKeyCombination::toCombined explicitly.

Fabian Kosmale ba561efa9d Add QUntypedBindable::metaType function
This enables checking the metaType of a QUntypedBindable in the public
interface.
In addition, work around an oversight that can only be fully addressed
in Qt 7: The metatype function pointer does not take a
QUntypedPropertyData * parameter. However, we need this functionality
for an efficient QBindable proxy implementation in declarative (which is
needed to implement interceptors there). To work-aronud this in Qt 6,
reuse the value getter and turn it into a metatype getter if the value
pointer is flagged.

Ivan Solovev d225c6afe7 QJniObject: add callStatic[Object]Method overloads for jmethodID
This patch extends the QJniObject::callStatic[Object]Method functions
with the overload which accepts a jmethodID parameter. This can be
convenient when the method id is already cached and you do not want
to query the method by its name and signature.

Thiago Macieira e4ed47ef4a QCoreApplication::applicationFilePath: add ELF auxval support
This implements getting the executable file name for FreeBSD. Linux has
a similar functionality (but called AT_EXECFN), but the /proc/self/exe
trick is actually better: it returns a full canonical path instead of
the argument passed to execve(), and it follows a rename of the
executable.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 7507afccee QFlags: streamline some macros
There's little point at keeping the separate Q_DECLARE_INCOMPATIBLE_FLAGS
macro, only to invoke it exactly once (from the expansion of
Q_DECLARE_OPERATORS_FOR_FLAGS). Besides, Q_DECLARE_OPERATORS_FOR_FLAGS
already had some "incompatible" operators in its expansion (the
deleted arithmetic ones), so adding the "incompatible" ones in there is
consistent.

Alexey Edelev b3f9c2b3d1 Add _qt_internal_wrap_tool_command to replace QT_TOOL_PATH_SETUP_COMMAND
QT_TOOL_PATH_SETUP_COMMAND is used in COMMAND list when call
add_custom_command/add_custom_target. This is necessary to setup
the necessary environment for the tool to run correctly. This approach
is weak according to CMake documentation:
   "If more than one COMMAND is specified they will be executed in
    order, but not necessarily composed into a stateful shell or
    batch script."
This change introduces the _qt_internal_wrap_tool_command function
that uses a wrapping script that setups necessary environment for
the tool and runs it in a single shell.

The script is generated by the _qt_generate_tool_command_wrapper
function.

This patch amends bcbbbdb2d6.
It fixes the logic of filterCaseSensitivityChanged signal emission.
The call to QRegularExpression overload of setFilterRegularExpression
could change the filterCaseSensitivity, but the signal was never
emitted.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QSortFilterProxyModel] A call to QRegularExpression
overload of setFilterRegularExpression now emits a
filterCaseSensitivityChanged signal, if required.

Gong Heng bb8fc324d1 fix: Optimize the performance of the inotify file system monitoring program。
When the ioctl() functions is executed correctly, the value of buffSize may be 0.
In this situation, there is no need to execute the following code.
This modification can solve two benefits:
1. The readFromInotify function runs frequently, and this modification can improve the
efficiency of the program.
2. When the buffSize is equal to 0, "read(inotifyFd, buffer.data(), buffSize)" function will
be stuck.(I have encountered this kind of problem)

Thiago Macieira 21b123f888 QCoreApplication::applicationFilePath: don't check for existence twice
A file that doesn't exist can't have a canonical path, so we don't need
to check fi.exists() before calling fi.canonicalFilePath(). Also avoids
a TOCTOU mistake: if the exists() returned true, we would store whatever
canonicalFilePath() returned, even an empty string (which can also
happen if realpath(3) fails for some reason).

Thiago Macieira ccd47237ee QCoreApplication::applicationFilePath: simplify by merging some code
And by introducing a local qAppFileName() for non-Windows and non-Mac.

This merges the simplification that each OS does to the obtained file
path to a common procedure, removing differences in behavior.
Previously, some would get the canonical file path and some wouldn't.

Edward Welbourne 9bad096c09 Use a more forgiving threshold for qFuzzyIsNull(qfloat16)
Analysis of problems with the new test for qFuzzyIsNull() revealed
that, where its version for double uses approximately 4500 * epsilon
and for float used 84 * epsilon as threshold, the qfloat16 version's
value was barely more than epsilon, with the result that the test had
to use a different value than the threshold to pass. (Converting the
threshold from float to qfloat16 and back made it bigger; in effect,
the threshold value was not <= itself.)

Furthermore, comparison with qFuzzyCompare() implied a value of
1/102.5 should be used, roughly 10 * epsilon, for consistency.  When
1/102.5 is rounded to three significant digits (the precision we use
in QTest::toString(), for example), to give 0.00976f as threshold, we
get a value that, after conversion to qfloat16 and back to float, does
give a result <= what we started with. So change qFuzzyIsNull() and
its test to use this as qfloat16's threshold value.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QFloat16] The qfloat16 threshold value for
qFuzzyIsNull() has changed from 1e-3 to 9.76e-3, almost a factor of
ten increase, for consistency with qFuzzyCompare()'s tolerance. Values
between these would previously have had qFuzzyIsNull(f) false despite
qFuzzyCompre(f, 1+f) being true.

Edward Welbourne 6dfec83051 Add tests for qFuzzyIsNull() to tst_QNumeric and tst_QFloat16
They were missing.
I also wanted to verify that it's true for sub-normal values.

At the same time, relocate qfloat16's implementation of qFuzzyIsNull()
to between those of qFuzzyCompare() and qIsNull(), since its apparent
absence initially confused me.

Edward Welbourne 16c9683718 Revert early return from QTimeZone on invalid ID
This reverts commit ec8808c302 but
retains its test, as the problem it fixed is now solved by having the
TZ backend validate the ID it's passed, so that it now only accepts
valid POSIX zone-descriptions and valid IANA IDs. The former were
being excluded by this check.

Amended a POSIX test to fail with the check in place; it passes now.

Edward Welbourne ae5d40e674 Handle invalid system zone case when falling back from time_t functions
Ammends commit 530e0bd469, in which I
added a QTimeZone-based fall-back for handling of conversions between
local time and UTC when outside the range supported by time_t-based
functions. That replaced prior kludges, when feature timezone is
enabled; however, even with feature timezone, it's possible for the
system zone to be invalid. So retain the old kludges also as fall-back
for when the system zone is invalid, as well as when we have no
timezones to fall back on.

Zhang Xiang 675a4b0cc7 Fix namespace error of std::source_location under C++20
With C++20 standard, src/corelib/kernel/qproperty.h of Qt Base cannot be
compiled at line 100:

QPropertyBindingSourceLocation(
	const std::experimental::source_location &cppLocation
	)

The reason is that source_location has been merged into namespace std
since C++20, and the header file has also been change from
<experimental/source_location> to <source_location>.

The problem can be avoided by define a constant.

Ville Voutilainen 0e4cc15da3 Fix comparison between nullptr and QWeakPointer
The comparison between nullptr and QWeakPointer was just bogus
and ill-formed. The INTEGRITY compiler catches that even if
nothing tries to use the comparison. It is an ill-formed, no
diagnostic required case of a function template never being
able to produce a valid specialization. And while we're at
it, this patch makes the result of comparing a nullptr to
a QWeakPointer or vice versa the same as asking .isNull() from
the weak pointer, because it seems mind-boggling if those
are not the same operation.

Andreas Buhr bb5d2af767 Port QPropertyAnimation::targetObject to bindable properties
This is one of the more complicated ports. The target object
was represented by two variables in the past: A raw pointer and a
QPointer. The QPointer is checked in some cases to check whether
the target object still exists.
This patch introduces a targetObjectDestroyed() slot and connects
it to the destroyed(QObject*) signal of the target object.
In this slot, the animation is stopped. The checks become
obsolete thereby and it is sufficient to represent the target
Object in one raw pointer.
This raw pointer becomes a bindable property.

Alexey Edelev a239045d59 Compile resource objects of the static library using same options
Introduce the function that appends the specified properties of the
one target to the another. It's possible to copy the standard
property set that affects a compilation only or pass some specific
properties that need to copy. You may also control the visibily of
properties that need to copy by passing the PRIVATE_ONLY or
INTERFACE_ONLY option.

The function is used to compile the resource targets with the same
property set as the main target. Also link the Qt::Platform interface
library to collect platform specific properties.

Edward Welbourne 828f533b32 Check POSIX rules during QTzTimeZone creation
Previously, an apparent POSIX rule would be saved and any defects in
it would only be discovered when trying to use it to generate
transitions. Instead, check that it has the right form during the
initial parsing of its data.

In the process, since checking for DST in the process is trivial,
implement a long-standing TODO to cache hasDaylightTime()'s
answer. The array it scanned was in any case being scanned during
construction, so detecting DST in init()'s scan is trivial; and its
failure to check the POSIX rule mean it failed to notice when zones
entirely specified by a POSIX rule have DST.

Adapt a test using a POSIX-only rule to verify it does know the zone
has DST; it did not, before this change.

Edward Welbourne 7fa8315eb1 Fix handling of a POSIX zone rule describing permanent DST
The description necessarily has fake transitions at start and end of
the year, potentially outside the year. These transitions should not
be reported by QTzTimeZonePrivate as transitions, although its data()
must find a "transition" whose data it can use (as in the permanent
standard time case, which could potentially be represented the same
way, although there's a saner way to do so, that the code already
handles) to report the zone's properties.

In the process, fix (and make more straightforward) the convoluted
decision-making code that was deciding which transitions to include in
the returned list. It was assuming invalidMSecs() would be set as the
atMSecsSinceEpoch of a transition, although this is computed in a way
that makes that value most unlikely, even when the result is invalid.
It also rather confusingly mixed < 0 tests as tests for overflow with
the one < 0 test that's about ignoring DST before 1970. Also added
comments to clarify some of what's going on there.

Expanded a recently-added test of a permanent DST zone to verify this
now works correctly.

Edward Welbourne 2383e82bcf Correct the parsing of POSIX rule day-of-year fields
There are two formats for such fields: one with a J prefix on a number
in the range 1 to 365, the other with no prefix and a range from 0 to
365. The code mistakenly treated the latter as if its range were from
1 to 366. The J-form doesn't count Feb 29th, so March always starts on
day 60; the code tried to take that into account, but adjusted in the
wrong direction (and this mislead me, in a recent partial fix, into a
fence-post error).

Add a test-case based on the Africa/Casablanca POSIX rule seen on RHEL
8.2, which tripped over the off-by-one error without a J prefix. This
incidentally also tests the J case.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 5fabad9a61 Long live PRI*Qdatatypes
Qt defines some integral datatypes (qsizetype, qintptr, quintptr,
qptrdiff) not in terms of the corresponding language datatypes (resp.
make_signed_t<size_t>, intptr_t, uintptr_t, ptrdiff_t) but as "integer
types with the same bit size of the corresponding language type" (and of
course the corret correct signedness for the target type).

This makes the Qt datatypes not printable via printf-like formatted
output, incl. qDebug, qWarning, QString::asprintf and so on; that's
because there isn't a format modifier that would universally work
with the Qt definitions.

For instance, on a 32 bit platform, ptrdiff_t may be a typedef for long,
while qptrdiff is a typedef for _int_ instead. Both long and int would
indeed be 32 bits, but they still are different types, and this means
that the ptrdiff_t-specific 't' length modifier would be wrong for
qptrdiff:

  qptrdiff p;
  printf("%td", p); // WARNING: -Wformat: wanted long, got int

Similarly, not using 't' breaks on 64 bits, and so on and so forth.
There isn't a way out, short of inserting casts on every print
statement.

So, let's adopt the same solution C/C++ use for their own integer
typedefs: the PRIx macros. This allows one to always use the correct
formatting specifier without the need of a cast.

I'm not adding the macros for the qintXX datatypes, as they already
exist in the Standard Library.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QtGlobal] A series of PRIxQTDATATYPE macros have
been added. They make it possible to print some Qt type aliases
(qsizetype, qintptr, etc.) via a formatted output facility such as
printf() or qDebug() without raising formatting warnings and without
the need of a type cast.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 49609f58a5 Fixed type integers: streamline the definitions
On all the platforms we support, we require these sizes in bits:

* char: 8
* short: 16
* int: 32
* long long: 64

We can get rid of the MSVC-specific type aliases (MSVC guarantees
__intXX to be aliases anyhow, not extended integer types) and just
use the builtin types.

Also, we require C++11 and C99, so "LL" and "ULL" are the correct
standard suffixes for (unsigned) long long. Remove the non-standard
suffixes from the Q_(U)INT64_C macros.

Igor Kushnir 7d92ef63d7 Optimize quadratic-time insertion in QSortFilterProxyModel
Let N = proxy_to_source.size() before the code modified in this commit.
Let M = (N - proxy_start). Let K = source_items.size(). The algorithmic
complexity of the removed loop is O(N+K+K*M), assuming the number of
O(N+K) reallocations is a constant. The complexity of the QList::insert
and std::copy implementation is O(N+K). This is much faster in practice
when K and M are of the same order of magnitude as N.

For example, this quadratic complexity issue results in noticeable
slowdown in the following scenario:
  * a QSortFilterProxyModel is used only for filtering, not sorting;
  * first set a filter that matches a single item in the middle of a
    huge number of items (about one million) - this is reasonably fast
    (takes about a second);
  * then clear the filter (i.e. set an empty filter so that no item is
    filtered out) and watch your application's UI freeze for a minute.

The "Add QSortFilterProxyModel clear-filter benchmark" commit (with
Change-Id I419a5521dd0be7676fbb09b34b4069d4a76423b1) adds a benchmark
that runs much faster with this performance fix.

Alexey Edelev ddaa7150d8 Switch to target_sources approach for the static library resources
Linking the object resource library to the static library still
causes an issue if the static library contains symbols that are
used in the resource library. The proposed approach creates the
following linker chain:
    executable <- resource objects <- static library <- Qt::Core

For the static qml plugins this means that the qmlcache_loader
object file will state in the linker command line before the
plugin library that implements '::qmlData' and
'::aotBuiltFunctions' functions.

We also need to keep the INTERFACE linking of the resource library
to the targets that it belongs too, to collect all the dependencies
that resouce library supposed to propagate to top-level targets.

Define the template calls in the header to allow for better type
handling and checking with constexpr and avoid overuse of macros.
Depending on the type provided in the QJniObject's call, the
signatures and the correct JNI function variant is used.

Samuel Gaist bcbbbdb2d6 Fix case sensitivity handling QSFPM
This patch fixes the breaking of case sensitivity handling. The removal
of QRegExp killed the wrong code paths which leads to inconsistencies
when changing the regular expression throuh methods like
setFilterWildCard or setFilterFixedString. Changing the case sensitivity
also nukes the original options that were set on the regular expression
if it was set through setFilterRegularExpression.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QSortFilterProxyModel] Case sensitivity as well as
regular expression options handling have been fixed. The original value
is properly kept when using setFilterWildCard and setFilterFixedString.
The regular expression options are now also properly kept when changing
the case senstitivity through setFilterCaseSensitivity.

Niclas Rosenvik fadd87ed15 Add Solaris support in cmake build
Add SOLARIS cmake platform definition.
Add settings for QT_DEFAULT_MKSPEC so that qplatformdefs.h can be found.
Solaris has its gssapi symbols in libgss.
Solaris supports @ORIGIN.

Solaris ld does not support --dynamic-list needed for reduce relocations.
Make solaris fail the reduce relocation test.

getauxval is specific to GNU libc and some other libc implementations on
Linux but sys/auxv.h is not. The bootstrap uses sys/aux.h as the only
indication for getauxval. This breaks builds on Solaris, so only make
sys/auxv.h an indicator for getauxval on linux or glibc based systems.

Solaris uses X11 so add it to the X11_SUPPORTED list.

Solaris network libraries for sockets etc are in socket and nsl.
ifreq does not have a member ifr_ifindex on Solaris, it uses
ifr_index. Add test to check if ifr_index is a member of ifreq.
The first struct in the in_addr union on solaris is defined as four
uint8_t, therefore four arguments are needed for its initializer list.

to its parent, and reimplemented qGetBindingStorage()
function for QObjectPrivate::ExtraData.
This allows to use Q_OBJECT_COMPAT_PROPERTY macro
for a property, stored in QObjectPrivate::ExtraData
and solves all the problems with calling a custom
setter.

Thiago Macieira 8bae441d90 QUtf8StringView: ensure binary compatibility throughout 6.x
We can't depend on whether the user compiles with -std=c++17 or
-std=c++20. So select what we can depend on and make that permanent.

Prior to this change:

 $ cat /tmp/test.cpp
 #include <QtCore/QUtf8StringView>
 void f(QUtf8StringView) {}
 $ qcd include
 $ g++ -S -o - -I. /tmp/test.cpp | grep globl | c++filt
         .globl  f(QBasicUtf8StringView<false>)
 $ g++ -fPIC -std=c++20 -S -o - -I. /tmp/test.cpp | grep globl | c++filt
         .globl  f(QBasicUtf8StringView<true>)

After this change, they're both "false". QUtf8StringView should have
been a concrete class that derived from QBsicUtf8StringView<whichever>
and inherited all its constructors. We'd cause ODR violations in C++20,
but nothing worse than what we usually do for BC reasons.

That solution is too late for Qt 6.x. Let's revisit in 7.0.

Edward Welbourne 28b75584c8 In the POSIX zone parser, handle no-DST zones the same as name-only
If parsing the standard time data brings us to the end of the zone
info, there is no DST information to use later and it makes sense to
record the zone as simply a fixed-offset zone.

At the same time, handle the case of empty name in the standard time
data; use the zone info as name rather than an empty string.

Edward Welbourne 605ae62944 Correct the range of allowed hours for a POSIX rule's transition
A POSIX rule's transition time is allowed an hour in the range from
-137 to 137; in particular, a negative hour is allowed, and used by
some Greenland zones using Europe's time-of-transition which, as they
are more than two hours west of Greenwich, happens before midnight.

This means the time of transition can't be represented by a QTime(),
so propagate the int that represents it to the code that consumes it;
and treat parsing failure as an error rather than "correcting" it - if
the transition time is given, it must be valid.

Changed tst_QTimeZone::isTimeZoneIdAvailable()'s verification of
validity to report the name of the zone it thought was invalid.
(A later change, validating POSIX rules, caued this to fail for
America/Nuuk without the present fix.)

Edward Welbourne 8e4546b42f Make deserialization of QTimeZone less promiscuous
When asked to read an OffsetFromUtc record, it was trying the IANA ID
it read in as a possible zone name. If the backend accepted the given
ID as a zone name, however, the result might not be an offset-from-UTC
zone. So extend the isValid() check it was doing on the result to at
least check the zone has no DST and matches the record's offset.

Fabian Kosmale 2136406b4c Work around MSVC compilation issue
MSVC does not seem to instantiate code in the else branch of the
constexpr if statement even though the condition is true. This causes
an error if the PropertyType is void, as we then would attempt to
create an object of type void.

Work-around the issue by explicitly checking that the type is not void.

Vincent Baijot 366bdcde97 Correct prefix reported for end element in QXmlStreamReader
Before this change, QXmlStreamReader prefix value was always an empty
string for EndElement when the documentation state : "Returns the prefix
of a StartElement or EndElement."

The error was a missing update of the prefix value when parsing
EndElement.

I updated the tests data which were also wrong because no prefix were
reported even for </a:foo>. No new test is necessary, I think, the test
data already cover the cases of EndElement with a prefix and without one
(unchanged here).

Alexandru Croitor 4d838dae5a CMake: Generate better Xcode iOS projects
Add an iOS specific plist file like we do for macOS.

If the user hasn't specified a bundle identifier or a development
team id, do what qmake does and query the Xcode preferences file to
pre-populate those if possible.

This allows running

 cmake -GXcode ./foo

on a Qt example project and building it with xcodebuild on the
command line without having to go through the IDE to set a development
team id or modifying the example project to add a product
bundle identifier.

Note that the change assumes that the development team id has been
previously set / configured via Xcode. If no such id is found, then
the value will not be set and the user will still have to specify it
either in the project file or via the Xcode UI after the project
has been generated.

Alexandru Croitor b25eb6e0bd CMake: Introduce zlib find script to work around hardcoded iOS SDK
Xcode allows building a project targeting either the device or
simulator sysroot in one single build dir, but for the sysroot
switching to work there should be no linker or compiler flags
referencing absolute paths of a specific sysroot.

During CMake configuration of a project targeting iOS, all found
system libraries will be within one single sysroot, either the device
one or the simulator one, whichever one was passed to
CMAKE_OSX_SYSROOT. CMake will then generate the Xcode project
and pass those absolute paths, which makes sysroot switching within
Xcode not work.

To avoid that, the CMake documentation recommends passing linker and
framework flags of the form '-lfoo' and '-framework bar' instead of
absolute paths. Xcode then takes care of setting the correct framework
search path.

Zlib is one of the libraries found in the iOS sysroot and thus passed
as absolute path.
To avoid that, create a new FindWrapZLIB find script. The target it
creates will pass the absolute path to the library on non Apple
platforms and an -lz linker flag on Apple platforms (macOS and iOS).

To avoid issues with target global promotion when system PNG package
is found, ensure that a found ZLIB::ZLIB target is promoted to global
manually in src/gui/configure.cmake.

Thiago Macieira 7709463b55 QHash: allow an empty QT_HASH_SEED env variable to reset
It's much easier to un-do a QT_HASH_SEED=0 by simply setting it to empty
in a command-line, as in:
  QT_HASH_SEED= ./appname

[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes] Previously, if the QT_HASH_SEED
environment variable was set but empty, Qt would interpret that as if it
had been set to 0, thus disabling the hash salting functionality. Since
this makes setting and unsetting this variable difficult in scripts, it
has been changed: if the variable is set but empty, it is interpreted
now as if it had not been set and the hash salting functionality is
enabled.

Giuseppe D'Angelo a794c5e287 Unicode: fix the extended grapheme cluster algorithm
UAX #29 in Unicode 11 changed the EGC algorithm to its current form.
Although Qt has upgraded the Unicode tables all the way up to
Unicode 13, the algorithm has never been adapted; in other words,
it has been working by chance for years. Luckily, MOST
of the cases were dealt with correctly, but emoji handling
actually manages to break it.

This commit:

* Adds parsing of emoji-data.txt into the unicode table generator.
  That is necessary to extract the Extended_Pictographic property,
  which is used by the EGC algorithm.

* Regenerates the tables.

* Removes some obsoleted grapheme cluster break properties, and
  adds the ones added in the meanwhile.

* Rewrites the EGC algorithm according to Unicode 13. This is
  done by simplifying a lot the lookup table. Some rules (GB11,
  GB12, GB13) can't be done by the table alone so some hand-rolled
  code is necessary in that case.

* Thanks to these fixes, the complete upstream GraphemeBreakTest
  now passes. Remove the "edited" version that ignored some rows
  (because they were failing).

Add Qt::begin/endPropertyUpdateGroup() methods.
These methods will group a set of property updates together and delay
bindings evaluations or change notifications until the end of the update
group.

Lars Knoll bb44c18b67 Don't emit change notifications more often than required
When a property value changes, first update all dependent bindings to
their new value. Only once that is done send out all the notifications
and changed signals.
This way, if a property depends on multiple other properties, which all
get changed, there will only be one notification; and (potentially
invalid) intermediate values will not be observed.

Fabian Kosmale 984bc7cc3e Address thread safety issues in QProperty classes
While we do not support cross-thread bindings, reading of properties
from a different thread when no bindings are involved must continue to
work.
However the check whether bindings are involved used the QBindingStatus
in the QObjectPrivate. That one contains the wrong value when the
QObject is accessed from a different thread than the one it has affinity
with. This patch reads from the thread_local directly instead to
sidetstep the issue.

Lars Knoll cf42a0fe5e Remove lazy binding evaluation
Too much of the existing code in Qt requires eager evaluation without
large scale modifications. Combined with the fact that supporting both
eager and lazy evaluation has a high maintenance burden, keeping lazy
evaluation, at least in its current state, is not worth it.

This does not diminish other benefits of the new property system, which
include
- a C++ API to setup and modify bindings and
- faster execution compared to QML's existing bindings and the ability
  to use them without having a QML engine.

We do no longer benefit from doing less work thanks to laziness. A later
commit will introduce grouping support to recapture some of this
benefit.

[ChangeLog][Import Behavior Change][QProperty] QProperty uses always
eager evaluation now when a dependency in a binding changes.

Joerg Bornemann f4417bf7e8 Check whether CMake was built with zstd support
CMake 3.18 introduced the file(ARCHIVE_CREATE) API that we use with
COMPRESSION Zstd for compressing corelib's mimedatabase.

It's possible to build CMake without proper zstd support, and we have
encountered such builds in the wild where the file(ARCHIVE_CREATE) call
crashes.

Add a configure test to determine whether CMake properly supports the
Zstd compression method.

Giuseppe D'Angelo b322bfcc14 QString: add missing char8_t* constructor / fromUtf8 overloads
Currently we support:

  QString s = QString::fromUtf(u8"foo", 3);

But we don't support

  QString s = QString::fromUtf8(u8"foo");
  QString s(u8"foo");

There's no reason not to have these two functions. Guess what,
we've actually got code _in Qt_ that tries to build a QString out of
a char8_t; that code stops compiling under C++20 (which is supported,
but not CI-tested at the moment, it seems).

Re-add the missing constructor and fromUtf8 overloads.

Ulf Hermann 57850f9d6d Switch metatypes generation on by default for Qt modules
We need the metatypes for anything directly or indirectly exposed to
QML. Switching this on has no runtime overhead. For interface libraries
we cannot generate any metatypes, though.

Edward Welbourne d4242b8af3 Revise deprecation of countriesForLanguage()
It was originally marked \obsolete without any comment on what was to
be used to replace it, or deprecation markings in the declaration, so
it got missed at 6.0. More recently it's been deprecated in favor of a
territory-based name; but actually it was obsoleted by (iterating the
territory() of each return from) matchingLocales() in Qt 4.8.

So back out of adding territoriesForLanguage to replace it and,
instead, mark it as deprecated in the declaration, in favor of
matchingLocales(). Also rewrite the implementation to be exactly that
replacement. Rewrote the one example using it.

Edward Welbourne 530e0bd469 Use QTimeZone to determine offsets outside the system-function range
Follow up on some comments saying "TODO Use QTimeZone when available"
in converting times, outside the range supported by the system's
time_t functions, between local or zone time and UTC.  Since this
required two formerly static functions in qdatetime.cpp to access
QTimeZone's d-ptr, turn those into methods of QTZ's friend QDTPrivate.

Edward Welbourne b4a875544b Extend time_t-based handling all the way to the end of time_t
At least some modern 64-bit systems have widened time_t to 64 bits
fixing the "Unix time" problem. (This is even the default on MS-Win,
although the system functions artificially limit the accepted range to
1970 through 3000.) Even the 32-bit range extends into January 2038
but the code was artificially cutting this off at the end of 2037.
This is a preparation for using the same also all the way back to the
start of time_t.

In the process, simplify and tidy up the logic of the existing code,
update the docs (this includes correcting some misinformation) and
revise some tests.

If the backends run into an error in computing the offset, they return
INT_MIN; but they are valled via the front-end, which returns zero
when the zone is invalid. So treat INT_MIN returns from the backend
the same as the case of being invalid.

Alex Trotsenko 063cdb9870 QWindowsPipe{Reader|Writer}: restructure signals
For QProcess, there is no point in suppressing recursive
QWPR::readyRead() emission, as the former manages this logic itself. On
top of that, the non-recursive nature of QWPR::readyRead() indirectly
disallowed reading from the channels inside
QProcess::waitForReadyRead(), if that is called from a slot connected
to QProcess::readyRead().

QWPW had two signals, one allowing recursion and one not.

This commit allows recursion of QWPR::readyRead() and
QWPW::bytesWritten(), and moves recursion suppression to the higher-
level classes. This makes the code more uniform and efficient, at the
cost of a few duplicated lines.

Edward Welbourne cbb4c59c38 Make QLocale documentation more honest
Documented the fall-back process by which QLocale selects an actual
locale based on what it is asked for. The prior documentation was
wrong.

In the process, removed some out-of-date claims about QString's
toInt() and toDouble() caring about the default locale; and caught a
few more cases (in \internal docs) of country -> territory.

Edward Welbourne fad730b164 Make script and territory optional in QLocale constructors
Previously the (language, territory) constructor had optional
territory; however, the (language, script, territory) one required all
three. Making the latter's script and territory optional, while
requiring the former to pass territory, makes it possible to construct
with (language), with (language, territory), with (language, script)
or with (language, script, territory), without (overt) use of AnyScrit
or AnyTerritory.

JiDe Zhang 50a7eb8cf7 Add the "Territory" enumerated type for QLocale
The use of "Country" is misleading as some entries in the enumeration
are not countries (eg, HongKong), for all that most are. The Unicode
Consortium's Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR, from which QLocale's
data is taken) calls these territories, so introduce territory-based
names and prepare to deprecate the country-based ones in due course.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QLocale] QLocale now has Territory as an alias for
its Country enumeration, and associated territory-based names to match
its country-named methods, to better match the usage in relevant
standards. The country-based names shall in due course be deprecated
in favor of the territory-based names.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 86ad338aa4 Q{*String,ByteArray}View::length(): use qsizetype, not int
Looks like these ones have been forgotten in the Qt 5 -> 6 upgrade
to qsizetype. Change them to return qsizetype as well,
and fix the docs. Being entirely inline, non-exported classes, we
should be able to get away with it without affecting binary
compatibility. Moreover, there's no reason for keeping them
deprecated.

Requires some minor adjustments, just like the ones done for
size()'s changes.

Edward Welbourne 964f91fd25 Make POSIX transition rule parser more robust
The POSIX rule parser used by QTzTimeZonePrivate recklessly assumed
that, if splitting the rule on a dot produced more than one part, it
necessarily produced at least three. That's true for well-formed POSIX
rules, but we should catch the case of malformed rules.

Likewise, when calculating the dates of transitions, splitting the
date rule on dots might produce too few fragments; and the fragments
might not parse as valid numbers, or might be out of range for their
respective fields in a date. Check all these cases, too.

Added a test that crashed previously. Changed
QTimeZone::offsetFromUtc() so that its "return zero on invalid"
applies also to the case where the backend returns invalid, in
support of this.

Fabian Kosmale d5b79e876e QBindable: Mark non-modifying methods as const
A few methods in QBindable which do not modify anything were not marked
as const so far. This adds the missing const, and a test to verify that
they work.

As all methods are fully inline, this does not cause any binary
compatibility issues.
