Tor Arne Vestbø 0b494c47d3 Don't quit automatically via QEventLoopLocker if there are open windows
As part of df359bcb70 the semantics and
interaction between QEventLoopLocker and QGuiApplication was changed,
based on the assumption that these two mechanisms were independent
and should not affect each other.

This had a surprising regression where the use of QEventLoopLocker in
combination with the QCoreApplication::isQuitLockEnabled() automatic
quit would end up quitting the app, even if it had open windows, for
example when the last job of some internal job queue finished.

It could be argued that if the app has open windows that should not
be closed, they should ignore the Close event, and that an application
with running QEventLoopLocker jobs should maintain an active window
showing the progress of those jobs, but still, this is regression
that we want to fix.

We now bail out if !lastWindowClosed() in QGuiApplication's
canQuitAutomatically, which is triggered from QEventLoopLocker's
isQuitLockEnabled() behavior. And we do so regardless of whether
quitOnLastWindowClosed is set or not, as the latter property
determines the behavior when closing a window, not the behavior
when a QEventLoopLocker goes out of scope.

Similarly, we now block quitting of the application when triggered
by quitOnLastWindowClosed() if a QEventLoop is active, regardless of
the isQuitLockEnabled(), as the latter property is determining
whether we should trigger a quit, not whether we should block them.

[ChangeLog][Important behavior changes] Fixed a regression where
the last QEventLoopLocker going out of scope would quit the app,
even if there were open windows, if quitOnLastWindowClosed was
false.

[ChangeLog][Important behavior changes] Fixed a regression where
closing the last window would quit the app, even if there were
active QEventLoopLockers, if isQuitLockEnabled was false.

but are only ever used to compare them against a const char16_t*, so
this API is a perfect candidate for replacing all of these overload sets
with a single QAnyStringView function.

Thiago Macieira 0756cc1eae QTest: rip out qxp::function_ref from compare_helper()
[ChangeLog][QtTest] The QCOMPARE_xx macros can now only find
QTest::toString() expansions that are either found via Argument
Dependent Lookup on the type in question or are an instatiation of the
QTest::toString<T>() template. This matches the behavior of the
QCOMPARE() macro.

This changes the way how the toString() overloads are selected, so
we need to explicilty constraint the main QTest::toString() template
in order to pick the free functions when they exist.

Thiago Macieira c14f399d2a QTest: rip out qxp::function_ref from reportResult()
This is causing huge code bloat because everything is a local lambda.
Instead, pass direct type-erased function and data pointers to the
replacement function. Testing with tst_qcborvalue, this reduces the
compilation time and the output binary size significantly:

                   Before After
Compiler Time Size Time Size
GCC 13.2 136.99 s 202.3 MB 13.88 s 14.3 MB
GCC 14.0 131.49 s 202.7 MB 14.69 s 14.4 MB
Clang 17 77.2 s 146.7 MB 13.62 s 12.2 MB
Clang 18 141.9 s 187.1 MB 13.62 s 12.4 MB

This causes a difference in how toString() overloads are
found. Previously it would match far more overloads because the
toString() calls were expanded by the macro. Now, we depend on
Argument-Dependent Lookup and associated namespaces, so toString()
overloads should not be in the QTest namespace any more.

With this patch applied, the testlib testcase of tst_selftest
started failing, because nullptr is now handled differently.
However, I consider it as a bugfix, because previously it was
falling back to a default implementation, and now it is using
the QTest::toString(std::nullptr_t) overload, which is a
desired behavior. Update the reference files for tst_selftest
with the new expected output.

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt 1593b1f6d6 Introduce optional smarter font merging with ContextFontMerging
This introduces an optional, slightly more expensive approach
to font merging which takes the full string into account,
instead of just going character by character.

This addresses the issue that you may sometimes get multiple fonts
to cover one string of text in a single language. With Chinese,
this is especially an issue because many fonts will only support
parts of the very large character set.

The new algorithm detects if the string was incompletely covered
by the font and tries the fallback fonts in order to find the best
match. This is obviously more expensive, especially if no perfect
match is found and we have to check all the fallbacks in the list,
but it is opt-in and only enabled if the ContextFontMerging flag
is set.

Marc Mutz 98b034e53a QRestReply: make charset parsing more robust
The old code was based on QString::split and e.g. didn't handle
escapes in quoted-strings.

Write a modern recursive-descent parser to parse out type/subtype and
charset parameter. Since we don't, yet, support CFWS (see below),
recursion depth is strictly limited, so we're not susceptible to
recursion bombs here.

It currently handles only RFC9110-style grammar, but can be easily
extended to support CFWS (RFC2822-style comments and folding
white-space) or RFC2231-style continuuations, if needed.

It's a bit more general than strictly required, because I expect this
to be reused elsewhere ere long.

Jarkko Koivikko 6c72080f26 print: Clamp margins entered by the user in the page setup dialog
The current functionality discards all margins if any values fall
outside the minimum or maximum limits. This can confuse and
frustrate users since the Windows native page setup dialog doesn't
enforce minimum values.

Introduce a new parameter outOfBoundsPolicy for the set margins
functions in the QPageLayout:
- OutOfBoundsPolicy::Reject The old behavior rejecting out of
  bounds values.
- OutOfBoundsPolicy::Clamp The new behavior for clamping the values.

The OutOfBoundsPolicy is applied only in StandardMode to maintain
backwards compatibility in FullPageMode, where all margins are
accepted.

Use the new Clamp policy in the printsupport where the clamping is
necessary.

Maintain binary compatibility by putting the declaration of the old
symbols without policy parameter behind QT_GUI_REMOVED_SINCE, and
implement them in removed_api.cpp to call the new versions.

The recent addition of support for multi-frame (non-animation) formats
had an unwanted side effect of sometimes calling
QImageReader::nextImageDelay() when the reader is at a different
frame than intended. Fix by effectively reverting to the previous call
pattern.

Doris Verria f20be43b82 Set focus to the window container when contained window gains focus
As it is, when a QWindowContainer's embedded window gains focus, the
container doesn't report having focus and QApplication::focusWidget()
will be nullptr. This is because when the embedded window gets focus,
the container will clearFocus() on the old focus widget. To be able
to set focus to the next focus widget (eg: as a result of a key tab
event sent to the container's parent window), the container checks
if its embedded window is already focused, and if so, forwards focus
to its nextInFocusChain(). That is why it keeps track of the (old)
focusWindow.

The problem with the current behavior is that if we want to make focus
navigation via key tabbing work and return focus *from within the
window* back to the normal widget focus chain, the encapsulating widget
needs to remember its focusWidget(), in this case the window container,
in order to be able to set focus to the next/PrevInFocusChain().

That is why we now set the focus to the window container whenever its
contained window gains focus. This means that
QApplication::focusWidget() will be the window container if the contained
window has focus. In this way, we don't have to call clearFocus() on the
old focus widget, or keep track of focus windows, because calling
setFocus() on the container will handle that.

It is worth noting and probably documenting the following caveats:
- even though the window container will be the
qApp's focusWidget(), it won't directly handle keyboard events, but the
contained window will
- we won't be able to respect the window container's focusPolicy in this
case, since the contained window will be activated from interactions
inside it, no matter the container's focusPolicy

[ChangeLog][QtWidgets][QWindowContainer] The window container will
become focused if the contained window becomes focused. This
implies that the QApplication::focusWidget() will be the window
container if the contained window is the focus window.

as zone format to use tttt (IANA ID) instead. Test data updated to
match.

follow the CLDR data in handling timezones. In most cases this means
the IANA ID is used in place of the abbreviation.

Thiago Macieira f0f2a9ef26 QString: ensure multi-arg arg() parses replacement like single-arg arg()
There was a discrepancy that the multi-arg arg() overload would accept
any number of digits in the placeholder, resolving up to value 999
(e.g., %000001 was interpreted as placeholder #1), but the single-arg
arg() overload only supported exactly one or two digits. The single-arg
behavior was documented, so use it.

[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes] The QString::arg() overload
taking multiple QString-like arguments is now fixed to interpret
placeholders like the other arg() overloads: it will find at most two
digits after the '%' character. That is, the sequence "%123" is now
interpreted as placeholder #12 followed by character '3' (verbatim).

We used to set a private _q_foreignWinId property on QWindow when

passed the foreign winId to the platform plugin.

With c585802e94 this was removed,
since we now were passing the winId through via explicit QPA

the ability to explicitly destroy() a foreign window.

But when closing a QWindow, we destroy both the window itself,
and all its children, including foreign windows. In this case
we still want to support recreating the foreign window, for
example when the parent window is shown again. To enable this
we restore the _q_foreignWinId private property, but keep
the limitation of not being able to explicitly destroy a
foreign window.

Both qlocale_mac.mm and dateconverter.py were mapping the CLDR am/pm

uppercase. The LDML spec [0] says:

May be upper or lowercase depending on the locale and other
    options.

[0] https://www.unicode.org/reports/tr35/tr35-68/tr35-dates.html#Date_Field_Symbol_Table
We don't support the "other options" mentioned, but we can at least
(since 6.3) preserve the the locale-appropriate case, instead of
forcing upper-case. As such, this change is a follow-up to

Changes locale data, as expected, to use "Ap" in place of "AP" in

Edward Welbourne d778d17b9f Cope with CLDR's "day period" format specifiers
The LDML spec includes a 'b' pattern character which is like the 'a'
pattern, for AM and PM, but would rather use noon and midnight
indicators for those specific times. We don't support those and using
am/pm will be right enough of the time to be better than simply
discarding this option, if it ever gets used (which it currently
isn't), so treat as an alias for 'a'. No locale in CLDR currently uses
this.

CLDR also has a 'B' specifiers for "flexible day periods", including
things like "at night" and "in the day". At present only zh_Hant uses
'B'. As a result, this change only affects zh_Hant's formats for time
and datetime, which only zh_Hant_TW uses - zh_Hant_HK overrides them
to use am/pm markers and zh_Hant_MO inherits that from
zh_Hant_HK. Based on this and user feed-back, I've opted to treat 'B'
as another synonym of 'a'.

This removes an entry from the time_format_data[] table (it happened
to occupy one whole twelve-character row), causing many other locales'
offsets into that table to be shifted by 12. Only zh_Hant_TW has an
actual change to which entry in the table it uses.
Added a test-case.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QLocale] CLDR's 'B' (flexible day period, e.g. "at
night" &c.) field, not currently supported, is now handled as a
synonym for the AM/PM field 'a', instead of leaving the B as literal
text. Only affects zh_TW at present.

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt cba15d99f0 Add API to provide user-defined fallback fonts
When depending on Qt's font merging for providing glyphs for certain
languages, there are currently some drawbacks. For one, you will
typically get a system font which might not fit together with the
main font of the application.

In addition, you might get some glyphs from one font and other from
another (typically for Chinese where the character sets are so large
that fonts will often only implement parts).

And finally, you may get the wrong glyphs for writing systems with
regional differences, if your application is e.g. written in Japanese
and then run on a Chinese system, you might get Chinese versions of
characters which are shared between the languages.

Without language-based font matching in Qt, there's no silver bullet
for fixing this. This patch introduces API which makes it possible for
users to provide the solution themselves, either by selecting
application-provided fonts as fallbacks for certain scripts or by
hardcoding system fonts for a specific language.

[ChangeLog][Fonts] Added API to override default fallback font
families for specific scripts.

Set focus on the test window so that the tested widget doesn't have it.
Remove the "PublicWidget" hack, we have public QWidget APIs to find the
next widget in the focus chain that we can use to transfer focus
reliably. Use TabFocusReason to maintain existing behavior, and to
test that widgets that handle that specifically appear correctly. Clear
the focus on the test widget by setting it back to the window after
taking the "focused" snapshot.

Volker Hilsheimer 960867566a QTableView: fix infinite loop when resizing rows/columns on model reset
When a slot is connected to the modelReset signal before the model is
set on the view, then such a slot might try to resize the columns or
rows to fit the contents before the view had a chance to perform layout
work.

In that case, the while-loop that calculated the size hint of a rows
(or column) by checking the size hint of each cell might not exit, as
cached information about visual indexes would be invalid.

To prevent this, don't loop over the cells if the actual last row/column
of the model (after the reset) is less than the first (cached) visible
row/column. Also, make sure we increase the counter for number of
rows/columns processed with each iteration.

Add a test (that loops infinitely without the fix, resulting in the
test being killed by the framework), and make the 'actual' variables
constant for clarity.

Thiago Macieira d4c7da9a07 CBOR: fix sorting of UTF16-to-UTF16 strings
This amends commit 394788c68e (its
ChangeLog applies to this commit too). That fixed sorting of UTF8-to-
UTF16, but when adding more unit tests, I've discovered that some UTF-16
strings also sorted incorrectly. There were two problems:

First, we were assuming that we could rely on the UTF-16 length as a
proxy for the UTF-8 one, but that's not true for some cases:
* both 1-, 2- and 3-codepoint UTF-8 sequences are 1 codepoint
in UTF-16, so some strings would have identical UTF-16 length
* 4-codepoint UTF-8 sequences shrink to 2-codepoint UTF-16 ones
  (2:1) but 3-codepoint UTF-8 sequences shrink to 1 (3:1), so
some strings would be longer in UTF-16 but shorter in UTF-8.

Second, QtPrivate::compareStrings performs UTF-16 codepoint comparisons
not Unicode character ones, so surrogate pairs were sorting before
U+E000 to U+FFFF.

To fix all of this, we need to decode the UTF-16 string into UTF-32 and
calculate the length of that in UTF-8 to be sure we have the sorting
order right.

Since this is a slight behavior change with a performance penalty, I am
choosing to backport only to 6.7. The penalty mostly does not apply to
6.8 due to commit 61556627f2.

Axel Spoerl 2ec2c54e05 uic: use qOverload for ambiguous slots
qOverload was used only for ambiguous signals and slots with no
arguments. Connections to ambiguous slots made in widget designer's
signal/slot editor, lead to an unresolved ambiguity when compiling
the generated code in ui_xxx.h. One example is QLabel::setNum(), which
can either take a double or an int.

Always using qOverload is not an alternative, because signatures are
normalised. E.g. const QString & / QString can't be distinguished.

Add a map with all ambiguous signals and slots to customwidgetsinfo.cpp.
Hardcode the map, because uic lives in QtCore and can't access meta
objects of gui/widget classes.

Use this map in isAmbiguousSignal() and add isAmbiguousSlot().

Change OverloadUse enum into an enum class in language.cpp. Change
enum values to reflect the new condition for slots to use qOverload.

Rename existing enum values and remove default argument in
language::formatMemberFnPtr() to improve code readability.
Apply const T& syntax for all types starting with Q, except QSize and
QPoint.

Fix it by using an old, deprecated value. If any old codebase using

Tor Arne Vestbø 697e1b0397 Decouple rate-limiting of paint-on-screen widgets from top level widget
As part of eacd58d4e7, a mechanism was
added to prevent posting redundant UpdateRequest events to the top
level widget, managed by QWidgetRepaintManager. The mechanism relied
on a boolean that was set when posting an update request event, and
reset when processing the event for the top level widget, as part
of QWidgetRepaintManager::sync().

However, for paint-on-screen widgets, we don't post an update request
to the top level, we post it to the paint-on-screen widget directly.
And when processing that event, we don't paint the widget though the
normal QWidgetRepaintManager machinery, but instead call the paint
event via QWidgetPrivate::paintOnScreen().

As a result, an update() on a paint-on-screen widget would result
in never receiving updates for non-paint-on-screen widgets, as
we assumed there was no reason to send further update requests.

We could fix this by clearing the updateRequestSent flag as part
of the paintOnScreen() code path, but that's incorrect as the flag
represents whether the top level QWidgetRepaintManager needs an
update request event or not, and would lead to missed updates
to normal widgets until the paint-on-screen widget finishes its
update.

Instead, we only set updateRequestSent if we're posting update
requests for non-paint-on-screen widgets, which in practice
means the top level widget.

The paint on screen logic in QWidgetRepaintManager::markDirty
still takes care of rate-limiting the update requests to the
paint-on-screen widget, by comparing the dirty area of the
widget.

There is definite room for improvement here, especially in the
direction of handling update requests via QWindow::requestUpdate
instead of manually posted events, but for now this will have to
do.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 3fb3d95c33 Add support for CMYK file I/O in JPEG
JPEG part 6 defines CMYK support. This commit adds such support to the
JPEG plugin.

A *very* interesting discovery is the fact that Photoshop inverts the
meaning of the CMYK color channels when saving into JPEG: 0 means "full
ink", and 255 means "no ink". Most other image viewers/editors follow
the same interpretation, I imagine for compatibility.

But others, like Adobe Reader, don't (???) -- a PDF expects a DCT
encoding with 0 meaning "no ink". I am adding a SubType to the image I/O
handler to let the user choose what they want, defaulting to Photoshop
behavior.

Also, turns out that Qt was already loading CMYK files and converting
them to RGB. I don't think we should do automatic, lossy conversions (we
were not taking into account an eventual colorspace...), so I'm changing
that loading to yield a CMYK QImage.

Finally: save the colorspace, even if it's a CMYK image.

QColorSpace doesn't support anything but RGB matrix-based colorspaces.
Yet, it can load an arbitrary ICC profile, and will store it even if
it's unable to use it. We can use this fact to preserve the colorspace
embedded in CMYK images, or let users set an arbitrary ICC profile on
them through Qt APIs, and then saving the result in JPEG.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][JPEG] Added support for loading and saving of JPEG
files in 8-bit CMYK format. When loading a CMYK JPEG file, Qt used to
convert it automatically to a RGB image; now instead it's kept as-is.

Laszlo Agocs e36c1a8d84 rhi: Add support for resolving depth-stencil
Add setDepthResolveTexture(). Should work similarly to the color
attachments' resolveTexture, but for depth or depth-stencil.

However, this is another fragmented feature.

- D3D11/12:

Not supported. AFAICS multisample resolve (ResolveSubresource) is just
not supported for depth or depth-stencil formats.

- Vulkan:

Not supported with Vulkan 1.0.

Supported with Vulkan 1.1 and the two extensions.
(VK_KHR_depth_stencil_resolve which in turn requires
VK_KHR_create_renderpass2 since the 1.0 structs are not extensible, so
now need to use VkRenderPassCreateInfo2 and all the '2' structs)

In Vulkan 1.2 the above are in core, without the KHR suffix, but we
cannot just use that because our main target, the Quest 3 (Android) is
Vulkan 1.1. So 1.2 and up is ignored for now and we always look for
the 1.1 KHR extensions.

The depth resolve filter is forced for SAMPLE_0. AVG seems to be
supported on desktop (NVIDIA) at least, but that's not guaranteed, so
would need physical device support checks. On the Quest 3 it does not
seem to be supported. And in any case, other APIs such as Metal do not
have an AVG filter mode at all, so just use SAMPLE_0 always.

- OpenGL (not ES):

Should work, both when the multisample data is a renderbuffer and a
texture. Relies on glBlitFramebuffer with filter NEAREST. What it does
internally, with regards to the depth/stencil resolve mode, is not under
our control.

- OpenGL ES:

Should work when the multisample buffer is a texture. But it will not
work when a multisample renderbuffer (setDepthStencilBuffer, not
setDepthTexture) is used because the GLES-only multisample extensions
(GL_EXT_multisampled_render_to_texture,
GL_OVR_multiview_multisampled_render_to_texture, which we prefer over
the explicit resolve-based approach) work with textures only.

- Metal:

Should work.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 2a54229f90 GUI: add CMYK painting support
This commit adds a CMYK 8bpp format to QImage. The idea is to enable the
transport of CMYK images inside Qt, for instance to be loaded/saved from
files or painted on CMYK capable paint devices (e.g. PDF).

Also, rasterization support *from* a CMYK image is added (on top of a
RGB surface), as well as CMYK image scaling/conversion.

Conversion and rasterization between CMYK and RGB isn't particularly
optimized nor it honors any colorspaces yet. The overall idea is to
match 1:1 the existing behavior of CMYK QColor (which get naively
changed to RGB; there isn't colorspace support in QPainter yet).

There are no plans to add rasterization *towards* CMYK.

Image save/load in native CMYK formats will be added in future commits.

Miguel Costa d25d9f2c26 Clean up windows accessibility backend
What was done:

 * Removed headers in src/gui/accessible/windows/apisupport: as of
v13.1.0, MinGW supports most of the definitions in these headers.
   Including uiautomation.h should be enough.

 * Removed the QWindowsUiaWrapper class: it's not meant to be extended
or itself instantiated, is an "ultra-thin" layer (it even preserves
the "all-caps" Win types of function args), and is in effect only a
MinGW-bound "kludge". Instead of this class, use the UI Automation
API directly, with the assumption that it's available and fully
functional, as specified in the MS docs. Any gaps between this
assumption and what is delivered by MinGW are bridged with specific
   (and explicit) temporary "kludges".

 * Implemented said specific "kludges" in qwindowsuiautomation. For
Windows builds, the header just includes uiautomation.h, and the
.cpp is empty. For MinGW, the header contains definitions still
missing from uiautomation.h, and the .cpp implements functions
of the UI Automation core library through imports from the
   uiautomationcore DLL.

 * Windows plugins (and tst_qaccessibility): use the UI Automation API
definitions directly, instead of the "ultra-thin" wrapper.

 * Windows plugin builds: use uiautomationcore library, if found.

What's intended:

 * Unburden Gui of the Windows UI Automation COM interfaces and other
definitions that are copied in the uia*.h headers.

 * Make the Windows plugins independent of MinGW shortcomings.

 * Remove the QWindowsUiaWrapper class that essentially only hides these
shortcomings and the "kludge" code needed to overcome them.

 * As MinGW adds further support to the UI Automation API over time,
make it noticeable which workarounds are no longer needed. The
current approach of hiding "kludges" in a wrapper class will also
hide the fact that they're no longer needed, if/when that time comes.

Replace public operators operator==(), operator!=() of
QJsonObject to friend methods comparesEqual().

Use QT_CORE_REMOVED_SINCE and removed_api.cpp to get rid of current
comparison methods and replace them with a friend.

Add friend method comparesEqual(QJsonObject, QJsonValue)
to the QJsonObject class, to support comparison between QJsonObject
and QJsonValue elements, see test-case valueEquals().

Marc Mutz d2dbe2d7f7 QSignalSpy: separate messages for invalid and non-signal meta-methods
If a signal was invalid, the code still called messageSignature(),
which returns a null QByteArray, and passed its constData() to
qWarning("%s"). That probably worked in our implementation, because it
falls back to QString::asprintf(), but it raised eyebrows, so avoid
calling messageSignature() on invalid QMetaMethod.

This changes the warning output, so adjust the test.

Even Oscar Andersen 043ceca40f wasm: Document and test OpenGLContext limitations
There is a limit in WebGL that OpenGL context sharing is not supported.

There is a proposal from 2013
(https://www.khronos.org/webgl/wiki/SharedResouces), but it seems that
it never was implemented.

There is an additional limit in that there is exactly one WebGL context
for each canvas (i.e. window).

A part of the problem here is that the identifier for an OpenGL context
is essentially a surface-thread-context triplet. And the thread part
might be more difficult to handle in a javascript setting.

Regardless of why, we need to have an opinion about what the
consequences are, and what we support to what extent.

As such this commit:

1) Adds a comment on the QOpenGLContext describing the limitations
2) Adds a qWarning() on the first activation of a shared context.

The second item is not complete. We will have problems with multiple
individual contexts also, It is just not possible to warn for these
cases. The second item covers, maybe, the most common case.
