Thiago Macieira cdaea16964 Protect better against timer ID replacement
Timer IDs have been reused since Qt 4.5 or thereabouts, so just checking
if the timer ID is in the timer dictionary is an incorrect check: our
timer may have been deleted and replaced by another with the same ID.

Instead of deleting the WinTimerInfo object, let's just mark it as
unregistered by setting timerId to -1 and cooperate in deleting at the
appropriate places. Since unregisterTimer skips deleting if inTimerEvent
is true, the appropriate places are everywhere that set inTimerEvent to
true.

Jesus Fernandez 346cd79192 Make QFile::open fail when using an invalid file name
Fixes the bug in QFile which allowed opening a file with reserved
characters in its name. If the name is a long file path, CreateFile

to catch reserved characters ourselves.

[ChangeLog][Windows] Fixed a bug that caused QFile to create
files with truncated names if the file name was invalid. Now,

because the QStringRef(const QString*) ctor was implicit. We're going

checks to be non-nullptr, to enable normal QString/QString comparison.

Marc Mutz 75f5e2bef2 Deprecate QString::null
It's a Qt 3 compatibility vehicle, and as such inherits the now-alien
property to distinguish empty and null strings. Particularly worrisome
is the following asymmetry:

   QString("") == QString::null          // false
   QString("") == QString(QString::null) // true

Instead of fixing this behavior, recognize that people might use it as
a weird way to call isNull(), albeit one that once was idiomatic, and
simply deprecate everything that deals with QString::null.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QString] QString::null is now deprecated. When
used to construct a QString, use QString() instead. When used to
compare to a QString, replace with QString::isNull().

GCC 4.8 seems to get the failure memory order wrong when using the

Thiago Macieira ef26467eb2 Reintroduce a directed QMetaType::typeName array
Commit fb376e0fcc removed an array that
facilitated returning the names of built-in types, to avoid the jump tables
from the switch statement. This commit brings it back but makes the array a
compile-time constant string offset table.

The array is created by way of a set of C++11 constexpr functions, so we
require that compiler feature. I've tested that MSVC 2015 does support
it as well as the ICC 17 when masquerading as MSVC 2015, so I've enabled
for that too. The only compiler left out is MSVC 2013.

If we didn't need to support MSVC 2015, this could have been written
more simply with C++14 relaxed constexpr.

This also adds unit tests to confirm that QMetaType::typeName() does
return null when we said it would. We're testing QMetaType::User-1
(which we'll likely never use) and QMetaType::LastWidgetsType-1 to
select something inside the range of the built-in types.

Timur Pocheptsov 8b9d246225 QHttpNetworkConnection: fall back gracefully to HTTP/1.1
Both SPDY and HTTP/2 work with a single qhttpnetworkchannel (and this means one
socket per qhttpnetworkconnection). Normally, HTTP/1.1 connection is using up to 6
channels/sockets though. At the moment a failure to negotiate SPDY/HTTP/2 leaves us
with a downgraded HTTP/1.1 connection (with only one channel vs. default 6).
Since we initialize channels (and establish connections) in a 'lazy' manner
it's ok to pre-allocate all 6 channels and then either use 1 (if SPDY/HTTP/2
indeed was negotiated) or switch back to 6 in case of failure.

Jocelyn Turcotte 8afc6146be Windows QPA: Better recover from removed screens when fullscreen
QWindowsWindow::handleResized would call isFullScreen_sys which checks
if the window's screen geometry matches the one of the window. When
switching back from fullscreen, Windows will have set the geometry to
fill the next window, but we don't switch QScreen until later in that
function, inside handleGeometryChange. This would result in our window
to take the whole screen geometry, but the FullScreen state wouldn't
be transferred to the new screen.

Fix the issue by using screenForGeometry and check if we are fullscreen
on any screen.

Also make sure that we check the validity of m_savedFrameGeometry when
restoring after a screen remove, since we would previously restore to an
area not covered by any screen anymore.

Edward Welbourne a1c27748d2 Make QLocale consistent about special handling of the C locale
QLocale::matchingLocales() simply created each locale using the basic
data, without (unless the matching conditions stipulated Language C)
applying number-options hacks that it applies everywhere else, when
creating the C locale. Thus the C locale in its returned list (if it
wasn't the only entry) ended up with the default number options,
without omiting separators in numbers. Thus QLocale::c() didn't
actually appear as an entry in the list. Discovered while
investigating QTBUG-58947.

Added a dumb autotest that checks various ways of getting the C locale
do actually give us equal locale objects. Fixed matchingLocales() to
apply the same hack as is used elsewhere for the C locale.

Olivier Goffart 1d9270ee42 Fix DPI of QWidget with parent on a different screen
If a floating QWidget has a parent on a different screen, its DPI was
still inherited from the parent instead of taken from the screen.

The only reason we did was in case there is a customDpi set.
(customDpi is a private thing that is only used in designer to change
the appearance of the previewed widget)

So instead of recursing into QWidget::metric for each ancestor, just
use a for loop to find if one parent has a customDpi. If no customDpi
is found, then return the DPI of the right screen.

The color values of ppm and pgm images can be either 8 or 16 bits.
They can also be scaled to a smaller max value, and they can be
expressed either binary or ascii. For some of these permutations, Qt's
image handler lacked implementation or would decode the wrong color
value. This commit fixes that.

Gatis Paeglis 1a5deb7e0e xcb: fix misuse of xcb_send_event
This fixes the following Valgrind warning:

"Syscall param writev(vector[...]) points to uninitialised byte(s)
Uninitialised value was created by a stack allocation"

The xcb_send_event() requires all events to have 32 bytes.
It calls memcpy() on the passed in event. If the passed in
event is less than 32 bytes, memcpy() reaches into unrelated
memory. And as it turns out, this behavior is actually
described in the xcb_send_event function's documentation.

This patch adds a macro that declares an event for safe
usage with xcb_send_event.

Laszlo Agocs dfc338613e Make QPlatformSurface events work with QWindowContainer
Embeddeding a QWindow via QWidget::createWindowContainer() fails to
deliver the SurfaceAboutToBeDestroyed event. This breaks any OpenGL
or Vulkan based QWindow that releases resources upon this event, and
is particularly critical with Vulkan where the only way to do properly
ordered swapchain - surface cleanup is via this event.

In the non-embedded case close() eventually ends up in an explicit
destroy() in QWindow. In the embedded case destroy() only gets called
from ~QWindow. This then silently breaks since the subclass' reimplemented
event() virtual is not getting called anymore.

To remedy the problem, simply add an explicit destroy() to
QWindowContainer.

subsequently, replace all LIBS+=$$QMAKE_LIBS_DYNLOAD with

the definitions of QMAKE_LIBS_DYNLOAD remain in the qmakespecs for

technically, the "library" feature should depend on '!unix || dlopen', but
that's for a later patch.

Thiago Macieira 07fffa6010 QDateTime: Fix clearing the ShortData flag in setMSecsSinceEpoch
Unlike setTimeSpec, this forgot to clear the bit when detaching. So it's
possible that some further use of the flags could incorrectly conclude
that the data was short and then proceed to corrupt the pointer.

The example from QTBUG-59061 caused this because toUTC() -> toTimeSpec()
calls setMSecsSinceEpoch which left the bit set; then addDays() calls
setDateTime(), which calls checkValidDateTime() and that corrupted the
pointer. This problem was more visible on 32-bit systems because no
QDateTime was short (except for default constructed ones), but it
can happen on 64-bit with sufficiently large dates.

This is mostly straight-forward, but some things are worth noting:

1. Yes, this is necessary. The noexcept operator looks for noexcept tagging,
not at the contents of the function to determine whether to return true.
The more conditionally-noexcept functions are used, the more important it
becomes that low-level classes are correctly marked noexcept. In that, it
   is like constexpr.
2. In accordance with the rules governing noexcept specifications for the
standard library itself, the set*Stretch() functions are not marked as
noexcept, since they have preconditions and thus a narrow contract.
Narrow-contract functions should not be noexcept. All other functions
have wide contracts (ie. no preconditions).

Shawn Rutledge 6aaf853222 make TabletMove hover events conditional on QWidget::tabletTracking
This adds the tabletTracking property in the same way that mouseTracking already
existed: there is a WA_TabletTracking attribute, and a TabletTrackingChange event
to notify when it changes. So for widget applications it's an opt-in feature.
QtQuick applications don't yet make use of tablet events, but when they do
in the future, we don't yet have a mechanism to turn the move events off;
it remains to be seen whether that will be necessary.

[ChangeLog][QtWidget] QWidget now has a tabletTracking property, analogous
to mouseTracking, which will enable TabletMove events while the stylus is
hovering, even if no button is pressed. This allows applications to show
feedback based on the other tablet event properties such as rotation and tilt.

Shawn Rutledge ea615b421b handle TabletMove events during stylus hover
The main reason for this is to get feedback about the stylus orientation
(angles and rotation) before the user presses it. For example an application
might provide an image of the brush which rotates along with the stylus. As
with mouse events, applications can distinguish hovering by the fact that no
buttons are pressed.

On the xcb platform we need to stop blocking the hover events, and in
QWidgetWindow we need to send the event to the widget being hovered, while
keeping the existing "grab" behavior: after pressing the stylus (or any button
on the stylus or on the tablet), keep sending the events to the same widget
until release.

- The copy ctor didn't do anything out of the ordinary, so = default it.
It's also only used in the implementation of clone(), so make it private.

Removes three #if QT_CONFIG blocks.

We can't use ctor delegation here, because systemTimeZoneId() is a

Marc Mutz b952bd3605 QSizePolicy: make (Policy,Policy) ctor constexpr
Unfortunately, that ctor also takes a ControlType argument (defaulted),
and calls the non-constexpr, non-inline function setControlType().

In order to make at least the two-arg version constexpr, I added
a use of the ternary operator to check for type == DefaultType,
making all calls of the ctor that use type == DefaultType
constexpr. For init'ing an aggregate type without ctor in the
ctor-init-list, I needed to require uniform initialization, too.

C++11-style constexpr cannot call void functions, so I needed
to extract the transformation part of setControlType() into a
new function that returns the result instead of storing it directly.

Saves a surprising 2K in QtWidgets text size on GCC 4.9, AMD64 Linux
stripped release builds.

Marc Mutz 494ee2aa8d QThreadPool: supersede cancel() with tryTake()
The cancel() function added in 5b11e43e for Qt 5.5 suffers from a
number of problems:

First, if runnable->autoDelete() is true, then the function suffers
from the ABA problem (see documentation written for trytake()).

Second, if runnable->autoDelete() is false, due to cancel() throwing
away crucial information instead of returning it, the caller cannot
know whether the runnable was canceled (and thus has to be deleted),
wasn't found or is currently executing (and thus mustn't be deleted),
or has finished executing (and can be used to extract the result).

Deprecate this dangerous API and replace it with the much more useful
Private::stealRunnable(), promoted to public API and renamed to
tryTake() for consistency with the rest of Qt.

Described the various caveats in the function's documentation.

several subtle issues and has been replaced with a new tryTake()

Tor Arne Vestbø c585802e94 QWindow: Remove "_q_foreignWinId" dynamic property
The platform plugins reading this out of the QWindow was a layering
violation, and propagates the notion that a window can shape shift
into representing a new native handle, while none of the platform
plugins support this.

A foreign QWindow is created via the factory function fromWinId(),
at which point we can pass the WId all the way to the platform
plugin as function arguments, where the platform will create a
corresponding platform-window.

The platform window can then answer the question of whether or
not it's representing a foreign window, which determines a few
behavioral changes here and there, as well as supplying the
native window handle back for QWindow::winId();

[ChangeLog][QtGui][QWindow] The "_q_foreignWinId" dynamic property
is no longer set nor read.

[ChangeLog][QtGui][QPA] The function createForeignWindow() has been
added to QPlatormIntegration and is now responsible for creating
foreign windows. The function isForeignWindow() in QPlatformWindow
has been added, and platforms should implement this to return true
for windows created by createForeignWindow().

The problem was caused by commit 0feeb6f6d2
which fixed QTBUG-58036. It reparented widget that used to be skiped.
In particular, floating widgets are skiped. But seting the parent of a
floating widget docks it. And so as a result it would not be skiped anymore.
This has two side effect: This breaks the animation (as the widget is
docked too early; and cause crash when QDockWidgetGroupWindow get
reparented as this breaks invariant that these are always floating.

So restore the skip from before commit 0feeb6f6d2,
and explicitly set the parent in all cases when the animation finishes.

and the read in unlock. The acquire on d->mutex is not enough because
it is not on the same object. While that race could be fixed by taking
the newly-allocate()ed d's mutex before publishing it with testAndSet,
there's another race, on 'recursive', between a newly-minted Private*
with recursive == false in tryLockForWrite(), and the read of 'recursive'
in unlock().

Oleg Yadrov d9c3d2301d macOS: use active window device pixel ratio for drag pixmap
In QCocoaDrag::dragPixmap, it treats QDrag::source as a QWindow, but it
is not - it's just a generic QObject* of some kind (which QQuickDrag
sets to the originating QQuickItem, and the widgets stack sets to a
QWidget). This failure means that dpr stayed at 1.0.

Unfortunately it’s not possible to receive a pointer on QWindow directly
from QQuickItem because QtWidgets and QtQuick do not share the sources,
but we can use the same dpr as current focused window has because drag
can only start from active window - press on a window which is not
focused should activate it first.

Timur Pocheptsov de225ccdf9 QNetworkSession - register types before connecting slots
QNetworkSession's ctor has a race condition: it 1) connects signals/slots
and also 2) registers meta-types (but after these connects). Our users apparently
have a lot of per-thread QNAMs in multiple threads (and implicitly
many QNetworkSessions on different threads too). From error logs it appears
that while one thread tries to connect signals/slots and evaluates the types
of signal and slot arguments, another thread can register this type.
If the first thread extracted signal argument types, then the second
registered this type, we can end up in a 'type mismatch' error on the first
thread with seemingly the same types in a debug message (something like
"type mismatch A::Some <-> A::Some") - they have the same name, but one
has type() == 0 and another - some non-zero type().

Now we call qRegisterMetaType before connect.

Tor Arne Vestbø ef32f16fc2 macOS: Rewrite window state handling
Instead of relying on specific notifications to change the window
state we now evaluate the state based on the current window state.

This allows us to get rid of windowShouldZoom in the window delegate,
making window state handling work for foreign windows as well, and
also allows us to re-evaluate the state in more places, such as
when moving a window, which may bring it out of maximized state.

The full screen state is tracked by a helper category that doesn't
just rely on the styleFlag, but also on the full screen notifications.
This is needed as macOS will complain if you try to go in or out of
fullscreen while a transition is in effect.

The differentiation between performFoo: and foo: has been removed,
as the latter works in both cases and doesn't rely on the button
being visible/enabled.

These changes fixes many observed quirks in the window state handling
that also resulted in making it hard to write tests that relied on
the fullscreen/maximized operations always working.
