Kai Koehne 2097932dc5 Document how to use CMake for Qt Network
Add documentation on how to use a module from CMake, alongside
the existing documentation about qmake.

While at it, also remove the mentioning of the central include;
It is not something we should actively advocate anymore. Instead,
the documentation of every class gives the correct include to use.

Alexandru Croitor 26059d1b9b CMake: Allow building bundled 3rd party libraries in qtbase
A few things are needed to accomplish that:

- the python scripts do not ignore certain system_foo features anymore
(it is a hardcoded list for now just to be safe)

- configurejson2cmake now outputs
  qt_find_package(WrapSystemFoo) calls for bundled libraries
  (see below)

- the harfbuzz .pro file is modified to accommodate pro2cmake
not being able to correctly parse some conditional scopes

- the freetype .pro file is modified to make sure linking of the
library succeeds without duplicate symbol errors, which qmake
doesn't encounter due to magical exclusion of cpp files that are
included in other cpp files (presumably for include moc_foo.cpp
  support)

- feature evaluation for Core, Gui, Network now happens in the
qtbase/src directory, so that bundled libraries can be conditionally
  built

- for each bundled library there are now two FindWrap scripts:
  - FindWrapSystemFoo which finds an installed library in the system
  - FindWrapFoo which either uses the system installed library or
the built bundled one depending on a condition

- projects that intend to use bundled libraries need to link against
  WrapFoo::WrapFoo instead of WrapSystemFoo::WrapSystemFoo targets
  (this is handled by pro2cmake).
Unfortunately manually added qt_find_package(WrapFoo) calls might
still be needed as is the case for WrapFreetype and others.

- a new cmake/QtFindWrapHelper.cmake file is added that provides
a macro to simplify creation of WrapFoo targets that link against
a bundled or system library. The implementation is fairly ugly
due to CMake macro constraints, but it was deemed better than
copy-pasting a bunch of almost identical code across all
  FindWrapFoo.cmake files.

- a qtzlib header-only module is now created when using bundled
zlib, to provide public syncqt created headers for consumers
that need them. These are projects that have
  'QT_PRIVATE += zlib-private' in their .pro files
  (e.g. qtimageformats, qtlocation, qt3d, etc.)
This is unfortunately needed due to QtNetwork using zlib
types in its private C++ API.

The change includes support for building the following bundled
libraries:
- zlib
- libpng
- libjpeg
- Freetype
- Harfbuzz-ng
- PCRE2

The following 3rd party libraries are still using an old
implementation within the CMake build system, and should be migrated
to the new one in the near future:
- double-conversion
- Old harfbuzz

The are a few libraries that are not yet ported:
- system-sqlite
- systemxcb
- maybe others

Among other things, this change allows building qtbase on Windows
without requiring vcpkg.

Mårten Nordheim 6c3bca01d9 QNetConMonitor(Win): Account for LOCALNETWORK reachability
What I originally thought NLM_CONNECTIVITY_IPV*_SUBNET meant turns out
to be what NLM_CONNECTIVITY_IPV*_LOCALNETWORK is, leaving me to wonder
when *_SUBNET is actually used. Anyway we now also check *_LOCALNETWORK
to make sure we're not unnecessarily denying certain connections to be
made.

At the same time check for link-local connections where both local and
remote are link-local, in this case even NLM_CONNECTIVITY_IPV*_NOTRAFFIC
is valid. Unfortunately this check cannot be done in
QNetworkStatusMonitor, so QNAM will likely not allow these connections.

Andy Shaw 5234c6c6a8 Account for a reply that is finished before we can connect the signals
In a case where a connection is refused, then it is possible for it to
fail at the time that the QHttpNetworkReply is being created and
therefore after the connections have been made it would have already
emitted the signal to indicate it was finished with an error.

To account for this, then it checks if there is an error code set on
the reply and if there is then it will call the relevant slot right away.

BogDan Vatra e52239f525 Use prefixed ssl libs when "-openssl-linked" configure params is used
As long as we do a multi abi build in one go there is no easy way for us to know
where the ssl libs are located for each ABI. The easiest way is to use libs
prefixed with the ABI.

For configure set we are using "_arm64-v8a" prefix as the configure script will
always use arm64-v8a to run the tests.

Don't show the OPENSSL_LIBS example as it won't work on Android.

Here https://github.com/KDAB/android_openssl/commit/ebb0b68be4 you can find
a script which builds these libs.

Timur Pocheptsov e5438e8ded QSslSocket (OpenSSL) improve alert messages handling
1. Add a new verification callback. This gives an option
to report errors directly from this callback (by emitting
handshakeInterruptedOnError()). This allows an application
to explain to its peer why the handshake was interrupted (by
sending a corresponding alert message).
2. This also means we want to notice such alerts (in Qt,
from the application's point of view, they are mostly
informational only, no interaction is required). So we
also introduce a new 'info callback', that can notice alert
messages read or written. We also introduce two new enums
describing the level and type of an alert message. QSslSocket
gets three new signals (for incoming/outgoing alerts and
verification errors found early).
3. In case we requested a certificate, but the peer provided
none, we would previously abruptly close the connection without
a proper alert message (and such a situation is not handled
by any verification callbacks, since there is no certificate(s)
to verify essentially). So we now introduce a new verification
option that maps to what OpenSSL calls 'SSL_VERIFY_FAIL_IF_NO_PEER_CERT'.
This way, the proper alert will be generated.

Timur Pocheptsov cd200ad7ae QSsl - delete all mentions of SslV2 and SslV3
Also, change the notion of 'unsupported protocol' for QSslSocket,
previously it was SslV2 and SslV3, now instead it's all versions
of DTLS and UnknownProtocol:
- makes no sense at all to connect using TCP socket and then
  suddenly start using DTLS_client/server_method
- UnknownProtocol is not to be set in a configuration,
unknown means that some ciphersuite's protocol version
  cannot be established.
- 'disabledProtocols' auto-test becomes 'unsupportedProtocols'
and tests that QSslSocket fails to start encryption if the
  protocol version is wrong.

Handling these enumerators (SslV2 and SslV2) as errors
not needed anymore. Removed from QSslContext and our
existing backends (qsslsocket_whatever).

TlsV1SslV3 enumerator is not making any sense at all (previously
was [SSL v3, TLS 1.0], then became "the same as TLS v. 1.0", but
now this name is very confusing. Removed.

Giuseppe D'Angelo 782df5b41d Make QObjectPrivate::threadData a proper atomic
QObjectPrivate::threadData used to be a QThreadData *, and was
read and written from multiple threads without proper synchronization.
As an example, it was read from QCoreApplication::postEvent and
written from QObject::moveToThread, therefore causing UB.

Port threadData to a proper atomic, removing the races. Fix all usage
points.

In general, QObject is documented to be simply reentrant,
not thread-safe, and certain bits (e.g. timers, moveToThread)
are not even reentrant. The reasoning therefore is that a given
QObject's threadData is not supposed to be touched by multiple
threads without some synchronization happening elsewhere, and
therefore relaxed loads should be sufficient.

As drive-by change: refactor QCoreApplication::postEvent.
It was particularly subtle, because it had a loop using a volatile
to cope with the possibility of the receiver object switching thread
while we tried to lock its thread's event queue.

However, volatile does not achieve any synchronization, so drop it,
and refactor the algorithm using better locking primitives.
Put this algorithm in a common place, and also reuse it from
removePostedEvents, which was lacking any synchronization.

Increased size of the peek buffer to 2048 from 1500 and now
uses QVarLengthArray with space for 10 stack-allocated WSABUF instances,
but still growing at the pace of 5.

In benchmarking (created for and included in this patch) this shows
better performance when retrieving the datagram size for larger
datagrams, and the same performance as before for smaller datagrams
(at the cost of 2048 - 1500 + 16 * 10 = 708 bytes extra stack space).

BogDan Vatra fcb78b5000 Android: Fix plugins naming
Android 5 doesn't extract the files from libs folder unless they are prefixed with "lib".
This patch sets a proper name for the plugin which will make gdb happy and it will also
avoid any name clashes.
If we rename the plugins when we copy them, gdb won't find them, therefore it can't load their
symbols.
On Android all the libs are in a single folder, so to make sure we don't have any name clashes,
we are prefixing the plugin name with it's relative path to qt folder (we replace / with _).

Some modules define their own manually-maintained lists, and we can rely
on the headers generated by each module to include in the pch as well
e.g. QtCore/QtCore.

There's also e.g. QtWidgetDepends for QtWidgets, but this only
works for modules, not for tools, examples or other applications.
For now we'll use the Qt<Module>/Qt<Module> headers for the
modules we depend on.

Building with PCH can be disabled with -DBUILD_WITH_PCH=NO, and it only
works for versions of CMake newer than 3.15.20190829.

broke renegotiation even if the 'else' wasn't there.

While working with HTTP/2, we are not re-sending failed requests.
In case we receive a GOAWAY frame, we properly handle it by
processing some active streams if possible, and aborting streams
that will not proceed further with ContentResendError. But it's
possible that some server failed to send us GOAWAY (for example,
it died) or closed the connection not finishing the streams that
were still active and valid (ID <= value from GOAWAY frame).
Now that we will not re-connect, there is no reason to be quiet
about us not progressing - emit RemoteHostClosedError on any

The _q_error slot has a special case for RemoteHostClosedError,
where the current channel's state is 'idle' and no request/reply
is in progress. The comment states that:

"Not actually an error, it is normal for Keep-Alive connections
to close after some time if no request is sent on them. No need
to error the other replies below. Just bail out here. The _q_disconnected
will handle the possibly pipelined replies."

_q_disconnected, indeed, takes care about pipelined replies ... calling
'ensureConnected' even if we have 0 replies in pipeline, which makes
zero sense to me and results in QNAM endlessly trying to re-connect
to the server.

Marc Mutz 09b0038513 Short live qt_unique_lock/qt_scoped_lock! (until C++17)
Now that QRecursiveMutex is getting split off of QMutex, QMutexLocker
will stop working on QRecursiveMutex once the split has been finalized
in Qt 6.

Even today, QMutexLocker contains casts from QBasicMutex to QMutex
that some reviewers are uncomfortable with. One way to carry
QMutexLocker forward is to template it on the mutex type, possibly
with aliases like QBasicMutexLocker and QRecursiveMutexLocker. C++17
code would then not require a port, thanks to CTAD.

But we have the problem now, and we can't template QMutexLocker in Qt 5.

The alternative is to look at std and realize that they have surpassed
QMutexLocker in expressiveness already. A scoped_lock cannot be
unlocked again, a unique_lock can be moved around. QMutexLocker
doesn't do either. The only "problem" is that the std lock classes are
already templates, but we can't, yet, rely on C++17 CTAD to make them
look as if they weren't.

So, prepare for a future with C++17 CTAD by writing factory functions,
qt_scoped_lock and qt_unique_lock, which will later port mechanically
to their C++17 equivalents (mostly).

The functions are added to a new private qlocking_p.h becauee we don't
want to make them public. These are for use in Qt's own implementation,
or for users that don't care about compatibility and will not mind them
to be removed once we depend on C++17. Originally, I planned to use
qmutex_p.h instead, but that header is not self-contained and causes
build errors when we started to include it into libraries other than
QtCore.

Regarding the return value of qt_scoped_lock: Ideally, we'd like to
return a std::scoped_lock, but two things stand in the way: First,
scoped_lock was only added in C++17 (we fall back to lock_guard if
scoped_lock is not available). Second, returning one from a function
requires C++17 guaranteed copy elision, because neither scoped_lock
not lock_guard have a copy ctor. In order for code not to come to
depend on a particular lock class, we return any of lock_guard,
unique_lock or scoped_guard, depending on what the compiler supports,
and therefore wrap the functions in the unnamed namespace to avoid
running into ODR if (private) headers are used from different projects
(autotests, e.g.). By the time we can drop them, however, qt_*_lock
will be semantically 100% identical to their replacements.

Port some initial users.

Volker Hilsheimer b7d073e990 Refactor memory allocation for arguments of QMetaCallEvents
There are two cases:

In a BlockingQueuedConnection, QMetaCallEvent doesn't allocate memory
and instead passes already existing pointers through. A QSemaphore
is used to serialize data access between threads. So the constructor
taking a QSemaphore can be simplified to only accept an existing arg
array.

In a QueuedConnection, QMetaCallEvent needs to make deep copies of
the arguments, and memory needs to be allocated based on the number
of arguments. The previous code put the burden of memory allocation
on the code generating the event, while the memory was free'd by
~QMetaCallEvent. Instead, make it QMetaCallEvent's responsibility
to allocate and free the memory as needed, and adjust the code
generating QMetaCallEvents.

We can allocate the memory for types and pointers to arguments in a
single block, starting with the space for the array of void*, followed
by the space for the array of integers to avoid byte alignment issues.
By pre-allocating the space that's needed by three arguments, we can
avoid all mallocs for the majority of QMetaCallEvents.

Until this change has propagated through qt5.git, we need to keep the
old API that is still used by QtDeclarative around. Once QtDeclarative
has migrated to the new API, it can be removed.

Volker Hilsheimer 739b3bfb2f Unify and simplify the QHostInfo::lookupHost overloads
The three cases - with classic slot, with functor and context object,
and with lambda - are all doing the same work, they just differ in
how they signal the application code about the results.

The detour through an explicitly posted QMetaCallEvent is needed
if we have a functor or lambda; making sure that the temporary
QHostInfoResult object lives in the right thread guarantees that the
event is received in the correct thread, so we can directly call the
functor (as long as the context object is still alive).

Since we guarantee that the QHostInfoResult object lives in the
thread of the receiver, we can simply emit the signal for old-style
signal/slot connections; the regular signal/slot mechanism will do
the work for us.
