Due to popular demand. It does have it benefits (especially when
it comes to convenience) to allow grabbing QOpenGLWidgets even
when they are not part of an actual window and are not actually
visible.
Does not involve much more than dropping the warnings and bailouts
when there is active native window (because the QOpenGLWidget/its
parents are still hidden).
In addition the device pixel ratio from metric() has to be fixed
as well.
[ChangeLog][Qt Widgets] QOpenGLWidget is now able to render and

Later, the Windows XP style will be removed entirely by means of
being merged with the Windows Vista style (which inherits from the

There was actually no reason for these styles being separate
classes in the first place, because both result in the same
appearance for controls on the running version of Windows.
Therefore, the windowsxp style merely appears as a "broken"
version of the windowsvista style, with only minor differences
based on the additional metrics that the vista style provides.
The windowsxp style does NOT, and never did, allow users to get
a Windows XP style appearance on Windows 7 and above (which is
currently Qt's minimum supported platform). Therefore, now that
Qt no longer supports Windows XP, the windowsxp style is unusable.

Commit c5db8fc74 changed all instances of Q_WS_FOO to have the prefix
Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4 instead, to make it clearer when reading the code
that the code in question was a left-over from Qt4, when we used
Q_WS_ defines instead of Q_OS_ defines.
This worked well for cases of #ifdef Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4, but less so
for cases of #ifndef Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4, where the code was actually
unconditionally included.
To make this even clearer, the defines have been replaced by checks for
1 or 0, with a comment describing how the code used to look in Qt4. The
use of constants in the check also makes it easier for editors to parse
the condition and show visually that the code is defined out.

Child widgets should get the show/hide event when the TLW changes its
state, because child widgets are also visible or invisible. This
restores the Qt4 behavior (fixes the Qt4->Qt5 regression).
Restoring/minimizing the TLW now sends the spontaneous show/hide event.
Show events are now handled also in the expose event handler in the
QWidgetWindow class, because the show event must occur before the
expose event to avoid possible flicker e.g. the OpenGL content. This
can happen e.g. on XCB platform. If the "WindowStateChange" event occur
before the expose event (e.g. Windows platform) then the code in expose
event handler will be ignored to prevent event duplications.

This reverts commit 90de48493be283b9afb249f6a0fd8dbd8958517d.
The call isn't necessary, but invokes undefined behavior.
It invokes undefined behavior because deleteTLSysExtra() is called
from deleteExtra(), which is called from ~QWidgetPrivate(), which is
called from ~QObject(). Thus, by the time we call q->windowType()
within setWinId(), q is no longer a QWidget, but only a QObject, and
calling a QWidget member function then is UB.
UBSan confirms:
qwidget_p.h:300:5: runtime error: downcast of address 0x2afdd4053620 which does not point to an object of type 'QWidget' (the Q_Q macro)
0x2afdd4053620: note: object is of type 'QObject'
qwidget.cpp:1712:93: runtime error: member call on address 0x2afdd4053620 which does not point to an object of type 'QWidget'
0x2afdd4053620: note: object is of type 'QObject'
It is also unnecessary:
deleteTLSysExtra() is called from two places: QWidget::destroy() and
deleteExtra(). deleteExtra() is only called from ~QWidgetPrivate()
which is only called from ~QObject() called by ~QWidget(), which,
however, already calls QWidget::destroy(). QWidget::destroy(), in
turn, unconditionally (for non-desktop widgets, at least) calls
setWinId(0) itself.
So fix the UB by removing the call without replacement.

QWidget::mapFromGlobal() does not work correctly when the widget is
a child widget of another widget embedded into a QGraphicsView with a
transformation (scaling/rotation). It starts applying offsets going
up the widget tree (just as mapToGlobal) until it hits the embedded widget
not taking into account the transformation.
It would need to go in from to top to bottom or better be reimplemented
such that a QTransform for mapping coordinates from/to global is determined
which is then applied in reverse.

Currently QOpenGLWidget and QQuickWidget do not support having native
child widgets inside the same top-level window. In some cases this is
inevitable, f.ex. multimedia may require native windows when used from
widget apps. winId() calls made for various (valid or invalid) reasons
are also problematic.
There are no blockers for supporting this setup, however. By storing
multiple texture lists (one for each subtree where the root is a
native widget), adding the missing markDirtyOnScreen calls, letting
each native widget access the correct texture list (i.e. the one
corresponding to its children) when they are (separately) flushed, and
fixing composeAndFlush() to take the update region and the (native
child) offset into account, it can all be made functional.
The change also fixes the issue of keeping GL-based compositing
enabled even after all render-to-texture widgets in the window become
hidden. Due to the changes of how such widgets are gathered,
composeAndFlush() is not invoked anymore when no such widgets are
discovered for a given native parent. This is great since having
compositing enabled infinitely is an issue for applications like Qt
Creator that implement certain views with QQuickWidgets but cannot
afford the cost of texture uploads in other places (e.g. for the text
editor) on slower machines.
The openglwidget manual test is greatly enhanced to test various
situations (MDI, scroll areas, tab widgets, QOpenGLWidget as native
child, QOpenGLWidget with non-tlw native parent, etc.)

A new QKeySequence::StandardKey has been added for the Cancel sequence,

Add a coordinate scaling layer to QtGui, which supports 'devicePixelRatio'
type high-dpi on all platforms, in production and also for
development and testing purposes.
High-DPI scaling is opt-in, by setting environment variables:
QT_SCALE_FACTOR - sets a global scale factor
QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR - sets per-screen scale factors,
where the scale factors are provided by the platform plugin.
This QtGui scaling can be used instead of or in addition to scaling
done by the window system. This distinction is not visible to
applications [when they use Qt API], which will see a change in
the value returned by the devicePixelRatio() accessors as usual.
Introduce a new (private to Qt) coordinate system: native pixels.
The coordinate system stack now looks like:
device-independent pixels (app, upper parts of Qt)
native pixels (lower parts of Qt Gui, platform plugins)
device pixels (backing stores and OpenGL)
Add private QHighDpi namespace with scaling functions that convert
between device-independent pixels and native pixels:
T toNativePixels(T, QWindow *);
T fromNativePixels(T, QWindow *);
Add scaling calls the QWindow (and friends) cross-platform implementation,
around the calls to QPlatformWindow functions. QPlatformWindow now uses
native coordinates - platform code remains largely unchanged since native
coordinates are window system coordinates.
QWindow now uses (possibly) scaled coordinates. This means that
platform plugins no longer can rely on QWindow::geometry() and
related functions. QPlatformWindow::windowGeometry() and other
convenience functions have been added for use when the platform
plugin needs to convert scaled geometry to native geometry.
Add Qt::AA_NoHighDpiScaling, which can be use to disable any
scaling in QtGui, effectively ignoring the environment variables.
(Note that this does not disable any scaling done by the window
system.)

calling QWidget::move() and QWidget::resize(). But these
methods are unreliable when the window is created but not
visible yet. For example, specifying the window position by
"-geometry +0+0" will take no effect.
Apply the geometry directly to QWindow in QWindow::setVisible().
QWidget will update its geometry after the response of the window
system. Besides it allows to specify the geometry for QML
applications.

doesn't mean we don't have to invalidate its backing store. On the
contrary, the backing store must be invalidated in order to clear stale
contents from previous paint events.
A window, however, can be completely ignored if it shrinks to 0 as the
window system will take care of it.
We don't have to clear the attribute for non-windows, either.
In Qt4 we use the Qt::WA_OutsideWSRange attribute only for widgets

Historically, the screen number of a QWidget was stored in
QTLWExtra::screenIndex which came in via the Q_WS_QWS platform.
The variable contained the screen number of the QDesktopScreenWidget
and the desired screen number for widget creation (from parent widget
or desktop parent widgets) and was not updated according to widget
geometry or when the associated QWindow moved to another screen.
Storing the screen number is problematic in Qt 5 since it may change
when the list of QScreens in QGuiApplication is rearranged.
This change renames it to initialScreen and changes its usage to only
contain a screen number when a screen is requested by parenting
on a desktop widget or reparenting. A value of -1 indicates no screen
is requested and the number should be deduced from the geometry.
For the usage in QDesktopScreenWidget, add a method to determine the
number via index in the list of QDesktopWidget.

top level widget of the window, which is resolved through the focus_child

we can't put the focusObjectChanged signal inside hasFocus() when we
unconditionally clear the focus_child chain (and hence the focusObject)

hellogl_es2 becomes the qopenglwidget example. This example performs
painting both via QPainter and native GL commands and has the OpenGL
widget combined with other, normal widgets.
The widget stack receives some changes when it comes to renderToTexture
widgets like QQuickWidget and QOpenGLWidget. Calling update() will now
result in a paint event, which is essential for QOpenGLWidget since we
want it to behave like a regular widget. The dirty region handling is
extended specially for such widgets due to performance reasons.
(an OpenGL content update must not result in any backingstore painting,
and is thus handled as a different kind of dirtiness)

QWidgetPrivate::updateWidgetTransform will only update the
transform if the widget is the current focus object.
But if someone calls QApplication::setActiveWindow, Qt will
call QWindow::requestActivate and then send focus
in/out events, all in the same event loop recursion.
The problem now is that requestActivate is not guaranteed to be
synchronous (it's not on iOS). So the window activation
(together with updating the focus object) will still be pending
when the widget receives the focus-in event. As such, the
transform update will also fail.
This patch will give the event as input to the function, so
that we don't depend on window activation being synchronous.
This will fix IM spell checking popups on iOS to show at the

Previously QPainter computed the devicePixelRatio
based on the physical and logical dpi, and expected
that the ratio between them would be either 1x or
2x.
This was problematic for paint devices like printers
where the physical dpi can be much higher than the
logical dpi, and also for QScreen where the physical
dpi would have to be defined as a multiple of the
logical dpi.
Add QPaintDevice::PdmDevicePixelRatio and QPaintDevice::
devicePixelRatio() getter and implement it for the
QPaintDevice subclasses. Use it when calculating the
highdpi scale transform in qpainter.cpp and when scaling
the clip rect in qwidget.cpp.
Remove physical dpi scaling for QImage, QPixmap and

The default implementation (in the super class) passes the event
to the next responder. This seems to be one valid way to handle
the Qt::WindowTransparentForInput flag. So if a non-alien widget
for which a native NSView is created has the flag
WA_TransparentForMouseEvents, that means the window will have
Qt::WindowTransparentForInput, and the NSView which is created
on its behalf will pass on each event so that other NSViews have
a chance to handle it. (It will also try to reject becoming
first responder, but that doesn't seem to be enough for the following

Add a static QWindow::fromWinId(WId id) constructor which can be used to
create a QWindow object representing windows created by other processes.
Then, QWindow::setParent() can be used to embed a window into a foreign
window socket and QWindow::setTransientParent() to stick the current
window on top of a foreign window.
The changes in the QtWidgets module ensure that the focus chain (TAB
navigation) correctly works when a QtWidgets-based window is embedded
into another application.
As far as the platform implementation is concerned, this commit only
implements the embedding functionality in the XCB plugin. So, this is
roughly equivalent to the Qt4 QX11EmbedWidget functionality.

A QGraphicsProxyWidget embeds a focusable widget (e.g., QComboBox). When
deleting QGraphicsProxyWidget, the QWidget will be deleted. The QWidget
clears focus, and QWidget::hasFocus() is nice enough to check if its
embedder QGraphicsProxyWidget has focus - because if it does, it wants
to clear focus from that item too. QGraphicsItem's destructor already
calls clearFocus() however, so this call is unnecessary; we can simply
stop clearing the QWidget's focus in its destructor if the widget is
embedded.
QWidget::hasFocus checks QGraphicsItem::hasFocus (on the proxy widget
that is being deleted), which checks its d_ptr, which is gone. It's
generally unfavorable for an object deleting a child to have the child
go back and poke at the parent object, which is in many ways what's
happening here.

This helps identifying which app a dialog belongs to, which is especially
useful when the dialog is very generic and shows up unexpectedly.
For compatibility reasons, the app name is added to the caption only

Removed old defunct platform specific code from
QWidget::isActiveWindow() and added call to
QPlatformWindow::isActive() instead. This is done because
the embedded native windows inside QAxWidgets can have
focus but are not part of the parent application's Qt
window hierarchy, so native methods are required to determine
if they are part of the active window or not.
QWidgetPrivate::setFocus_sys() was implemented to activate
the window of the focused widget if the focus was elsewhere.
This is required because embedded native windows can steal the
focus from the main application window.
Focus event handling in Windows platform adaptation plugin was
fixed to correctly identify the active window in cases where
the are embedded native widgets that can have focus.
Also fixed three test cases that were affected by these changes.

You can reproduce the bug with the QMainWindow demo application: Just
dock the toolbar on the left side, then try to drag the bar back to
the top and observe that the application crashes.
This happens, because the toolbar becomes a top-level widget during the
dragging action and therefore some data structures like a window are
created. After the toolbar has been docked, it loses its top-level state
and the window object is destroyed. The same is not true for the backing
store structure, which still keeps a pointer to the destroyed window.
When the toolbar is dragged the next time, a new window object is created,
but the backing store tries to access the deleted one. Crash occurs.

QWidgetPrivate::drawWidget was missing an important line about marking
native widgets dirty compared to 4.8, which caused all other widgets
besides the native one to not repaint unless window was resized in such
a way that the widgets would get hidden and then re-exposed.
The above didn't fix repainting issues when moving native widgets
(e.g. widgets in QMdiArea subwindows or just calling QWidget::move()).
Added setting widgets dirty to QWidgetWindow::handleExposeEvent to
address this issue.
If there is one native widget, Qt enforces that all widgets in same
parent hierarchy are native - presumably to get overlapping widgets
drawing correctly. However, qapplication_qpa.cpp set the attribute
Qt::AA_DontCreateNativeWidgetSiblings for all applications, which
caused only the parents of native windows be forced native, leading to
drawing artifacts related to siblings of native widgets (e.g.
overlapping QMdiArea subwindows). I don't see a reason for setting this
flag indiscriminately for all applications, so removed it.
Also added setting newly created QWindow visible if associated
widget is already visible, which can happen if regular widgets
are shown before the first native widget is shown and retroactively
forces other widgets native.

The main reasons for doing this are:
1. _qpa.h end up in the master QtGui include file. QtGui is meant for
userland applications. qpa code is neither binary nor source compatible.
Inadvertant use of QPA api makes the user code binary-incompatible.
2. syncqt creates forwarding headers for non-private header files. This
gives people the impression that this is public API.
As discussed on the mailing list, even though QPA api is internal and subject
to change, it needs to treated differently from private headers since they
will be used by in-qtbase and out-of-qtbase plugins.
This commit does the following:
1. The _qpa in QPA header files is dropped.
2. syncqt now treats any file with qplatform prefix as a special file and
moves it to qpa/ directory. The recommended way of using QPA API in plugins
is: #include <qpa/qplatformfoo.h>. This allows the user include QPA API
from multiple modules (for example, qplatformfoo might be in QtPrintSupport)
3. The user needs to explicitly add QT += <module>-private to get access to
the qpa api.
4. Creates compat headers for the olden style qplatformfoo_qpa.h and QPlatformFoo
includes.
This commit does not change the cpp filenames. This requires a more careful
merging of existing non qpa cpp files and existing cpp files on a case by
case basis. This can be done at anytime.
The following files are not renamed as part of this changed but will be fixed

QWindow already has windowModality() and setWindowModality() as part of
its API from commit 516f4e283b. Platform
plugins can use this already to setup modality hints on windows that
they create, but it's not enough to implement modality fully.
QGuiApplication gets a modalWindow() static method, which is similar to
QApplication::activeModalWidget() in that it returns the last modal
window to be shown.
The modal window "stack" moves from QApplicationPrivate to
QGuiApplicationPrivate. The enterModal*() and leaveModal*() functions in
QApplicationPrivate are removed and replaced by
QGuiApplicationPrivate::showModalWindow() and hideModalWindow(), which
are called by QWindow::setVisible() just before calling
QPlatformWindow::setVisible().
The virtual QGuiApplicationPrivate::isWindowBlocked() will tell us if a
window is blocked by a modal window (and tell which modal window for any
interested callers). The default implementation works on the QWindow
level. QApplicationPrivate reimplements isWindowBlocked() and adds popup
and WA_GroupLeader support.
QGuiApplication uses the state set from isWindowBlocked() to block
user-input events: mouse press, mouse move, mouse release, wheel, key
presses, key releases, enter/leave events, close events, and touch
begin, update, and end events.
Note also that the modality helper functions in QtWidgets and
QApplicationPrivate are left in place and working as they always have.
The behavior of QWidget in the presence of modal windows/dialogs should
not change.

The current way we do it of having the platform or touch plugin send
both mouse and touch events is not ideal. There's no good way to write
an application that works sanely both on a touch-only device and on a
desktop except by restricting yourself to only handling mouse events. If
you try to handle touch events you don't get any events at all on
desktop, and if you try to handle both, you end up getting duplicate
events on touch devices.
Instead, we should get rid of the code in the plugins that automatically
sends mouse events translated from touch events. This change enables
that by making the behaviour fully configurable in QtGui.
Two new application attributes are added to explicitly say whether
unhandled touch events should be sent as synthesized mouse events and
vice versa, and no duplicates are automatically sent as the current
situation. Synthesized mouse events are enabled by default.
We also get rid of the QTouchEvent::TouchPoint::Primary flag, which
was only used to signal that the windowing system automatically
