Eirik Aavitsland 880f709fd0 RHI: facilitate compressed atlas textures in gles2 backend
Since glCompressedTexImage2D() does not allow zero data, it could not
be executed during texture build. Instead it would be done during the
first subresource upload. This made atlasing clumsy, since one had to
introduce a fake upload of the full texture size before the subtexture
uploads. This commits lets the gles2 backend deal with that instead.

Introduces the UsedAsCompressedAtlas QRhiTexture::Flag for opting in
to this behavior.

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt 3ec0df4b5f RHI: Store texture handle as 64-bit int
When storing a void* pointer to the texture handle, we had
to ensure that the variable would exist until the build phase,
which is error prone and caused errors in QQuickWidget because
we copied the texture ID from the FBO into a local variable
before passing it into QQuickWindow::setRenderTarget().

The reason for using a void* was that we cannot know the width
of the handles in the different backends, but we do know that
they are 64-bit at maximum, so instead of storing potentially
dangling pointers, we just make it a 64-bit integer and cast
it back and forth in the backends.

Jan Arve Sæther 5b3a86a87b a11y: Fix bug in the accessibility cache
We could sometimes cache a partially constructed object if the accessibility
interface for that was created during construction time of the object. This
usually ended up in that the interface for e.g. QMenuBar was stored in the
cache as a QAccessibleWidget, regardless of if the a11y factory supported it.
Since it was already in the cache, it remained the same for the entire lifetime of the
application, causing e.g. QMenuBar not have the correct accessibility behavior.

Andy Shaw 9803ba9b6f Deprecate QGuiApplication::paletteChanged() signal
Rather than have a paletteChanged() signal which can be connected to for
tracking when the application palette has changed, then it is better to
use the event that is sent to all windows and the application itself.
That way it is easy for a window/widget or item that cares about the
change to the application font to catch it in the event() function.

Stefan Löffler 09ee4282e5 Fix invalid text layout data when a full layout run is interrupted
When a QTextDocument is laid out, this is done in "chunks" to keep
programs responsive. During the layout process, blocks are split into
lines. When a full (re)layout is interrupted (e.g. because a
QHighlighter changes some formats before the layout for all chunks is
completed), later chunks are skipped. This results in invalid data
(e.g., blocks not split into lines).
This change ensures that full layout runs of the root frame are
completed even after interruptions.

Reported by Coverity.

All arrays in this code have the size Num... - 1, so accessing the entry
at Num... - 1 is out of bounds. Since we don't dereference the value,
and only use the address of the entry "one past the last" like an end-

this code does rely on undefined behavior.

Use pointer arithmetics instead to get the address of the entry "one

This is different from the case of x or y being negative, because then
there is still a chance that there is an in-bounds area (if width or
height are large enough).

It is important to make this check based on the original value of x
and y, not the clamped ones. Otherwise we end up with a 1 pixel wide
region even when the expected result is a width or height of 0.

Previously the incorrect subtraction of 1 in the final clamping of w and h
masked this, but once that is fixed, the issue fixed here becomes visible
in the cubemap_scissor manual test.

Jan Arve Sæther 8d6d1d6fea Fix bug in QTextLayout::min/maxWidth for WrapAtWordBoundaryOrAnywhere
In that specific wrapping mode, it will first try a normal word wrap. If
it doesn't fit within the specified line width it will discard the
result of that and try WrapAnywhere by calling layout_helper()
recursively. The problem was that at the point it called itself again it
had already adjusted eng->maxWidth:

        eng->maxWidth += line.textWidth;

This was not restored, but carried on to the recursive call to
layout_helper(), so the end result was that the maximumWidth would
accumulate text widths from parts of the same line twice.

Due to the same recursive behavior the minimumWidth also had a problem:
It always returned the width of the widest word because it took the
qMax() of the minimum widths of the two passes, (WordWrap and then
WrapAnywhere) effectively making the minimum width always be the width
of the widest word (even though it could wrap at finer granularity).

QWidgetWindow::event is reimplemented to handle QEvent::Close as well,

QCloseEvent to the widget.

The order of execution for widgets is after this change:

1) QWidgetWindow::event
2) QWidgetWindow::handleCloseEvent (calls QWidget::event/closeEvent)
3) QWindow::event
4) QWindow::closeEvent <- does nothing, not overridden
5) default cleanup handling in QWindow::event

and for Qt Quick after the corresponding change in qtdeclarative:

2) QWindow::event
3) QQuickWindow::closeEvent <- emits closed
4) default cleanup handling in QWindow::event

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt 7a18b7e2c2 Fix font height metrics with embedded bitmaps
For fonts with embedded bitmaps, we cannot trust the HHEA and
OS/2 tables, since there are a different set of font metrics
in the EBLC/CBLC tables for each of the predefined bitmap
sizes.

In this case, we can safely fall back to the metrics returned
by the system, as the inconsistency we were originally fixing
was only between OS/2 and HHEA and will not matter for the
bitmap fonts.

This patch also simplifies the code path through the font
engines a bit. Instead of setting the system metrics in the
processHheaTable() function when the table cannot be found,
we instead always fetch the system metrics at the very start
of initializeHeightMetrics() and then override if there are
no embedded bitmaps, and if the HHEA and OS/2 tables are
available. This also reduces the number of virtual functions
needed to sort out the height metrics.

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt f761ad3cd9 Use consistent vertical metrics on all platforms
Qt assumes that ascent+descent is the bounding height of the
text, but for historical reasons, the ascent for some fonts
will not contain the diacritics. On Windows, the preference
is to use data from the OS/2 table which were explicitly
invented to work around this, but on other platforms we
are not respecting this table. This causes a text layout
that looks fine on Windows to have overlapping characters
on e.g. macOS.

To make vertical metrics (ascent, descent, leading) consistent
across all platforms, we don't blindly trust the values we get
from the underlying font system, but apply in the following order:

1. If OS/2 table exists and USE_TYPO_METRICS flag is set, we
use the typo metrics from OS/2 table
2. If OS/2 table exists and USE_TYPO_METRICS flag is not set,
we use winAscent/winDescent from OS/2 and the line gap from
HHEA table.

Laszlo Agocs 8524d29ce8 Prevent asserts in certain QWindow re-creation cases
Amends 402efef57b. The original patch
has a problem, namely that it directly calls QPlatformWindow::requestUpdate()
instead of going through QWindow::requestUpdate(). As there is a chance that
an update gets scheduled between the creation of the QPlatformWindow and this
extra, optional invocation of requestUpdate() at the end of QWindow::create(),
this becomes quite unsafe because QPlatformWindow, unlike QWindow, is not
graceful: it will just assert if there is a pending update still.

Solve the whole thing by storing the updateRequestPending flag of QWindowPrivate,
then resetting it, and then going through the safe, public
QWindow::requestUpdate() when our copy of the flag says so.

Eskil Abrahamsen Blomfeldt bad2ac47f8 Resolve OpenGL version functions in thread-safe manner
In 73f3f501f3, the classes were
moved out of Qt Gui, and a mechanism to attach them to the
QOpenGLContext was implemented using a QMap and a connection
on destroyed to delete it.

This solution was not thread-safe, so the suggestion was to either
add a mutex or to make an opaque pointer for the storage in the
(thread-affine) QOpenGLContextPrivate.

I decided to go with the latter. A solution using hash lookups
and mutexes seems to complex when the only benefit is to avoid
forward declarations from Qt Gui to Qt OpenGL in private API.

Especially since this dependency already exists with
the "textureFunctions", which serve the same purpose,
although the destructor is being passed in as an explicit
function pointer there, probably because the ambition was
to use a forward declaration rather than a superclass.

Johan Klokkhammer Helsing 73f3f501f3 Move versioned OpenGL functions from QtGui to QtOpenGL
The context—which lives in QtGui—now knows nothing about versioned functions.

This changes the public API for getting version functions for a context.

[ChangeLog][QtGui][OpenGL] QOpenGLContext::versionFunctions() has been removed.
QOpenGLVersionFunctionsFactory::get() from the QtOpenGL module should be used
instead.

Previously one would call

    context->versionFunctions<QOpenGLFunctions_4_0_Core>();

Which now becomes

    QOpenGLVersionFunctionsFactory::get<QOpenGLFunctions_4_0_Core>(context);

The rest of the API should be identical.

Since glgen no longer compiles, and the links to its input (gl.spec and gl.tm)
are dead, I've edited the previously generated files manually. If glgen is
fixed, it should be quite easy to make it generate the new way.

Shawn Rutledge cf4a8b12fa Remove more calls to deprecated TouchPoint functions
Followup to ed3ed0b9db
68916fede4 and
3c159957f8.

In QWindowSystemInterfacePrivate::fromNativeTouchPoints() and
QWindowSystemInterfacePrivate::toNativeTouchPoints() we continue using
struct TouchPoint's QRectF area as storage for the screen position +
ellipse diameters; as the comment says, this is _unrotated_, meaning
that rotation is stored separately, and area should not be construed as
the bounding box of the rotated ellipse. (In Qt 6 we can make the
QPA touchpoint look the same as the QTouchEvent::TouchPoint to
eliminate the need to calculate the center of the rect.)

In QGraphicsScenePrivate::updateTouchPointsForItem(), setRect() sets the
position and the ellipse diameters, but the latter is redundant because
the purpose of this function is to localize a touchpoint to the
coordinate system of a particular QGraphicsItem. Ellipse diameters
should stay the same.

In QApplicationPrivate::updateTouchPointsForWidget(), as in
QGraphicsScene, we are localizing touchpoints to a widget
and to the screen that the widget is shown on, so only the position
needs to be set, while preserving the sub-pixel resolution that
mapFromGlobal(QPoint) loses.

Volker Hilsheimer d975ad4ed7 Merge QGuiShortcut and QShortcut again in QtGui
QShortcut has only one widget specific feature, which is whatsThis; that
is just a QString, so the setters and getters can just as well be in
QtGui.

The widgets specific implementation of shortcut matching and of showing
the whatsThis balloon stays in QtWidgets, in the private implementation.
Using virtual functions in the private we can override the empty default
in QtGui, and by adding a virtual factory function in QGuiApplication,
the correct private is instantiated depending on the kind of application
running.

Volker Hilsheimer bcaff2b06f Remove QGuiAction again and split QAction implementation up instead
Duplicating the number of classes is a high price to pay to be able to
have some QAction functionality behave differently, or be only available
in widgets applications.

Instead, declare the entire API in QtGui in QAction* classes, and
delegate the implementation of QtWidgets specific functionality to
the private. The creation of the private is then delegated to the
Q(Gui)ApplicationPrivate instance through a virtual factory function.

Change some public APIs that are primarily useful for specialized tools
such as Designer to operate on QObject* rather than QWidget*. APIs that
depend on QtWidgets types have been turned into inline template
functions, so that they are instantiated only at the caller side, where
we can expect the respective types to be fully defined. This way, we
only need to forward declare a few classes in the header, and don't
need to generate any additional code for e.g. language bindings.

When drawing multiple distinct (unconnected) lines (e.g. from

Both the cosmetic stroker and the full stroker does it right, but the
fast rasterizing codepath got it wrong.

In case of QGuiApplication post routines are called
from QCoreApplication destructor, so no more event dispatcher.
This behavior is not consistent and creates troubles
when releasing resources of web engine.

Attached test will hang on windows with QGuiApplication,
however works fine with QApplication.

Volker Hilsheimer c14f3deca9 Fix deprecation warnings from NSColor(Space) with macOS 10.14 SDK
The support for handling color spaces by names is deprecated in
recent AppKit versions, and should be replaced by using
NSColor.type, and operations on the type-specific properties of
the color.

Merge the two implementations from qcoregraphics.mm and
qcocoacolordialoghelper.mm, which also fixes the inconsistent
interpretation of color components as device dependent (in
qcoregraphics) or generic (in qcocoacolordialoghelper). We now
always populate the QColor with device independent components.
