Having two versions of popup, one that takes a point and one that
takes a target rect, causes problems for client code if they use
the 'target rect' version since not all platforms override that
function.
So this patch will change the remaining platform that override
QPlatformmenu into using the new 'target rect' version.
Calling the old version that takes a point will still work, since
the base version will then convert the point into a zero-sized rect, and
forward the call to the 'target rect' version instead.

This allows the menu to tell its containing item the menu got
deleted. This removes the need to reset the COCOA_MENU_ANCESTOR
property value, which would crash since QCocoaMenuItem::m_menu

ToUnicode sometimes gives wrong results if it is used with a
keyboard buffer containing the ctrl modifier. Special cases
containing alt and control might trigger the third assignment
of a key, but if no alt modifier is used for the key event,
we temporarily disable the control modifier in order to obtain
the character with ToUnicode.

This change enables us to reorder the stacking order used by the
layout. This is necessary if we want to influence the drawing order.
Lowering or raising views are done separately for native views and
Qt surface views, that is, the two different view "types" are moved
relative to other views of the same type and Native views are always
placed on top.

This introduces a combined brush/dash pattern which can be used to
perform faster dashed straight-line drawing. The dash pattern is
prerendered to a tiled bitmap brush, resulting in a significant speedup
for lines with many elements.
As the result of non-rectilinear lines may lose quality compared to the
native dashed renderer, the slow/high quality codepath can be activated
by setting the QPainter::HighQualityAntialiasing render hint.

When the composition mode changes to a mode which is not supported by
Direct2D's primitive blending, the rendering follows the emulated (slow)
code path using rasterFill(). This allows the direct2d paint engine to
handle all composition modes supported by QImage.

Since we assign a fromValue to the scroll animation directly, the
UIViewAnimationOptionBeginFromCurrentState flag does not have
any effect. So we need to set the fromValue based on the current
presentation state explicit.
The reason why we need to ensure that we scroll from the current
state is to avoid screen 'jumping' as a result of the scroll function
being called many times during the same event loop cycle during after a
focus change (focus object/window change, cursor rect change etc).

It turns out that setting visibility means whether or not the
menu should appear visible in a parent menu, and not to
actually show or hide the popup. This means that the only way
to show a popup is to call showPopup, which also makes
it simpler since we then always get a parent window as
argument that we can activate and get a focus object from.

On Windows, if a window was previously staying on top then it needs to be
explicitly told to have HWND_NOTOPMOST set when it is recreated. If it was
not staying on top before the flag has no effect so it is safe to always
set it in this case.

The rotation will already result in laying out of the root viewcontroller,
so we don't need to send explicit geometry changes for the statubar change.
The properties of the screen at that point are also not consistent, as the
screen is about to rotate.

We detect changes to the statusbar height, eg. when the in-call 40px tall
statusbar is active, and ensure that the root viewcontroller view is laid
out again with new screen properties applied. To make the layout match
the animation of the statusbar height we apply the layout inside a
animation block.

The logic of how to deal with top level windows in the presence of rotation
or status bar changes should be confined to our custom QIOSViewController
that acts as a desktop manager for regular Qt applications.
We no longer treat windows with full-screen or maximized geometry but without
the matching window state flag as being targeted for auto-resizing. In the
future we might detect this case and warn the user that windows should have
the appropriate flags to be able to auto-resize on orientation changes.

Instead of custom logic to detect portrait/landscape and the height of
the status bar. The latter would fail when the statusbar/orientation was
set explicitly through [UIApplication setStatusBarOrientation], as the
statusbar would not follow the normal behavior of covering the top part
of the screen. The new code also handles upside-down portrait mode, as
well as iOS8's behavior of reporting screen bounds and application
frame in interface orientation instead of device orientation.

Instead of updating screen properties (and hence laying out top level
windows) in willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation, we do it in
the more catch-all viewWillLayoutSubviews, which also handles changes
to the orientation while the application is in the background, as well
as changes to the statusbar frame/size, eg. while being in a call.

QWindowsTheme::standardPixmap() takes a size parameter which is in user
space coordinates. This patch causes it to calculate the size in device
pixels, to get the image from the OS in the correct resolution and to
set the devicePixelratio of the returned pixmap accordingly.

-[NSWindow setContentView:] doesn't make assupmtions about where that
view comes from, and just attaches it to the window. We need to make
sure we detach it from its previous window by calling -[NSView
removeFromSuperview], or the previous NSWindow may keep references to
the view. This can be an issue if the view is deleted right after.

The QClipboard::Mode returned from modeForAtom should be checked
everywhere because values greater than Selection (i.e. FindBuffer)
aren't supported on X and should mean error conditions.
The lack of such a check did an out-of-bounds array access, which
could lead to a crash.

This bug can be reproduced (AFAIK) only on 10.9. To fix it I suggest we create
NSOpenPanel/NSSavePanel
_every_ time it must be displayed. Actually, that's what I've seen in all code samples
I was able to found - nobody tries to retain this panel and re-use it.
If we re-use it, "Media" section magically disappears.
I believe this bug is not Qt's bug, but something weird in Cocoa.

When ordering a key window out Cocoa
tries to find a new KEY window. Looks like it prefers the current MAIN
window and since QNSPanel is never a main window, Cocoa is breaking
the stack order. To avoid this - try to change the key
window BEFORE ordering out a window.
The application has a stack of all open windows (visible and hidden),
we iterate through this stack starting from our current key window
and look for the nearest window below, that can become a new key window.
Most probably, it will be our transient parent :)
This code will change (potentially) the key window _only_
if there is a transient parent.

Deleting a QWindow automatically deletes its child windows because
they are in the QObject hierarchy. However, if the user sets both
WA_NativeWindow and WA_DontCreateNativeAncestors, we can't just
delete that widget's QWindow. First because the widget doesn't get
notified (and maybe it should be), and then because we may invalidate
any reference to the QWindow the user may have kept.
Our solution is to reparent the child QWindows into the new parent's
closest QWindow. We must, however, take the precaution of not keeping
any reference to the backing store in the platform window. Reparenting
operations can trigger repaints on the platform window, but the backing
store is not set and flushed until later.

Instead of coupling the visibility of the virtual keyboard to
the first-responder status of the currently active QUIView, we
now treat first-responder as a separate state, tied directly
to QWindow activation. This fits better with the concept of
first-responders in iOS, as a UIView can become first-responder
without dealing with text input, eg when dealing with touch
events or menu actions.
The decision point on whether or not to show the virtual
keyboard is then handled by implementing the conformsToProtocol
method and selectively returning YES for the UIKeyInput protocol.
iOS internally calls _requiresKeyboardWhenFirstResponder on the
UIResponder to determine this, but since we can't override a
private method (like WKContentView in WebKit does) we have to
rely on the fact that the implementation of the method uses the
protocol conformance to make its decision.
Once the virtual keyboard is up, we then need to react to changes
to its configuration, such as keyboard type or the type of return
key. Normally this would be a simple call to [view reloadInputViews],
but iOS will not reload the built-in keyboards unless the UIResponder
returns YES for _requiresKeyboardResetOnReload. Since we again can't
override this private method (like WebKit does), we work around it
by taking advantage of the fact that iOS will treat any change to
the first-responder as a reason to do a keyboard reset. By using
a stand-alone UIResponder for text input we can init and destroy
these responders as needed, so that every call to reloadInputViews
will trigger a reset, as the responder has not been seen before.
We keep track of changes to the input-method-query, and detect
whether or not we need to bring up a new UIResponder for text
handling.
As part of this refactoring we now tie the visibility of the
virtual keyboard to the presence of a focus object that has
input-methods enabled. This means that we automatically will
track changes to input-elements through the focus changes,
and reconfigure or hide the keyboard as appropriate. As a
result the hide() method of QInputMethod becomes a no-op on
iOS.

A window width constraint coded in Qt4.8 was accidentally applied
to the height in Qt5. Upon further review, it does not seem that
this constraint is needed, in any case. Different versions of
Windows have different minimum window widths (8.1 had 124px
instead of 112), and setting a smaller value seems to cause no
harm.

Some IMEs will perform an insertNewLine when Return/Enter is pressed while
composing text as well as causing the edit to finish. By handling this it

GetGlyphOutline Windows API returns wrong values when used with an
OpenType PS font and in GGO_NATIVE mode. It causes problem when
exporting to PDF. The fix changes the GetGlyphOutline call to use
GGO_METRICS instead.

In OS X, certain keyboard layouts (such as Japanese) do not produce
unicode character conversions for Escape and other keys. In these cases
the code uses a fallback scan code check to map the key. The scan code
mapping had the function keys, but there are several other important
keys it can map.

Qt sets a QCocoaMenuDelegate on every menu it creates in order to emit
the (OSX specific) aboutToShow signal. However, there are a few cases
where OSX will copy a menu without copying the delegate. One of those
cases is the dock: the result of -[NSApplication applicationDockMenu:]
is used to create a new menu, to which a few more items are copied.
This copy is then send back to the dock.
This patch invokes the delegate's -menuWillOpen: method when
-[NSApplication applicationDockMenu:] is called. Note that sub-menus
won't receive the call-back, because the dock doesn't tell the
application what happens after returning from applicationDockMenu:.

The code transformed the coordinates from the view to the window's
content view, and since that content view is flipped in the pure
Qt world (content view == QNSView), it manually flipped the
coordinates to transform from that to window coordinates.
Instead just directly transform the view coordinates to window
coordinates using standard Cocoa methods, which then works with
any kind of content view and NSWindow configuration.

Updating the geometry and available geometry in two steps means that
QScreen will be in an inconsistent state when emitting the geometry
change signal, as the available geometry has not been updated yet.
Piggy-backing changes to the availableGeometry based on the virtual
geometry changing does not make sense, so we now tie geometry and
availableGeometry (and their size variants) to their own separate
geometryChanged and availableGeometryChanged signals.

Don't wait for the GUI thread when it's already waiting for us.
An application that uses the virtual keyboard may get an inputmethod
query just when it is being suspended. If the GUI thread is already
blocking on a semaphore at that point, waiting for the android thread,
we really do not want to wait for the GUI thread...

For iOS8 and up [UIScreen bounds] changes based on the interface orientation,

This switches the font rendering to use gray scale antialiasing when in
translucent rendering mode. It does so by adding a flags argument to the
paint engine, allowing for future expansion in communicating render hints
from the device to the engine.

This environment variable will paint an overlay on each paint command

During the introduction of context adoption support the config choosing got
broken for context creation, at least for hooks that return a customized
format in surfaceFormatFor(). The returned format is the one that needs
to be passed to chooseConfig(), not the original.

Get rid of the rendezvous at shutdown: the android thread does not
need to wait for the GUI thread. Since the GUI thread frequently does
blocking calls to the android thread, this fixes several known and
potential deadlocks.

Maintaining a black list of devices can't be reasonably done.
The workaround is now enabled by default. It can be disabled with the
QT_ANDROID_DISABLE_GLYPH_CACHE_WORKAROUND environment variable, in
which case the current list of blacklisted drivers will still be taken
into account.

Do not try to resize or destroy invalid surfaces.
This caused update problems with all GL apps after suspend,
since we would forget the dummy view that we always keep
around so we get proper transitions on shutdown.
Also make sure that we don't mess this up even if we try to destroy a
non-existing surface. This would have fixed the bug by itself, but
then we would still be stuck with the annoying warning message.

The default behavior of ANGLE is to use D3D11 before falling back to D3D9.
This change improves flexibility the platform plugin to explicitly create
a D3D11, D3D9, or D3D11 software (WARP) context by setting the
QT_ANGLE_PLATFORM to "d3d11", "d3d9", or "warp", respectively.

We pull out the magic UIViewAnimationCurve of the keyboard animation
when the keyboard is about to show, but we need to defer the shifting
of the value 16 bits, as that turns it into a UIViewAnimationOptions,
which we can't store in a UIViewAnimationCurve member.

A blocking isSoftwareKeyboardVisible() is a deadlock
waiting to happen: when the android input method performs
blocking metacalls from the android thread to the GUI
thread all the time, we cannot block the GUI thread

When using WA_TranslucentBackground/FramelessWindowHint, the backing
store must paint to an offscreen texture instead of the swap chain in
order to achieve the desired results. This texture is then presented to
the screen using UpdateLayeredWindowIndirect().
As the swap chain is not needed in this mode, its construction is skipped
if indirect rendering is active.
Furthermore, the layering options were updated to fix an issue with
transparent layers overpainting the background. The layer options were
switched to D2D1_LAYER_OPTIONS1_NONE, which appears to work for both
translucent and non-translucent rendering modes.

Platform plugins have a tendency to make the newly created native
context current with a temporary surface. This is usually needed to
query some information related to the new context. Afterwards most of
them just reset to having nothing current.
This has two issues:
It unexpectedly changes the current context/surface. A call into
QOpenGLContext::create() does not imply that the current context will
get changed. This is the minor issue and we could probably live with
it (at least if it had been documented).
However, the real issue is that QOpenGLContext::currentContext() will
become inconsistent: it will still report whatever was current before
the create() even though on the EGL/WGL/GLX level that's not the case
anymore.
To prevent all this confusion the platform plugins can easily be
changed to restore whatever context/surface was current before they
altered it.

Qt expects scroll operations to be executed immediately. They cannot be
postponed since Qt may paint on the scrolled area afterwards.
The new code will only use an accelerated scroll operation (screen_blit)
once before the window is posted, because the blit is from the previous
buffer to the current one. Hence an additional scroll operation could
copy outdated pixel data. Additional scroll operations will be handled
by Qt. Performance issues were not perceived with this approach so far.

Qt Quick does a processEvents() at shutdown. On some versions of
Android, this can trigger a getTextAfterCursor() after
QGuiApplication shutdown. This patch still has a theoretical
race condition, but should reduce the crash probablity to
practically zero.

would crash at shutdown if the virtual keyboard was open.

It gets somewhat complicated due to the fact that a RasterGLSurface window
(i.e. any widget window since 5.3) may behave either like an OpenGLSurface
or a RasterSurface, and the expected behavior may change on each backingstore
sync.
This does not fit designs where the platform window implementation is separated
and there is different behavior for raster and GL windows.
Therefore QAndroidPlatformOpenGLWindow is now made capable of behaving like the
raster one, based on a flag communicated from the widget stack via QWindowPrivate
(since the plugin knows nothing about widgets).
This means that widget windows that do not have renderToTexture children (QOpenGLWidget,
QQuickWidget) will go through the raster path, while the ones that have will behave
like an OpenGL window with the actual rendering happening in
QPlatformBackingStore::composeAndFlush().
The surface type is RasterGLSurface in both cases nonetheless.

Previously when we created any QWidget based application a
QDesktopWidget would be created as a physical window like any other, but
this window would steal input from the application. We now create a
DirectFB window for the Qt::Desktop type of widget now, but it does not
receive input events and can not be painted to or displayed.

The QPanGesture recognizer requires single-point touch events. The touch
implementation in Qt 4 would test Qt::WA_TouchPadAcceptSingleTouchEvents
and forward single touch events if set.
Making this work in Qt 5 is a little bit more involved since the platform
plugins don't know about widgets.
Change the Cocoa touch implementation to send single-point touch events
to QWidgetWindow windows only. Make QApplication forward single-point
touch events only if the target widget has the
Qt::WA_TouchPadAcceptSingleTouchEvents attribute set.

then all available input event logging will be enabled on any platform.

It's necessary to populate the device data structure
even if we are not going to log anything. Now the accessor
is renamed to touchDeviceForId and the struct is renamed to

Android does not report the full screen size in display metrics.
However, it does report the correct size for layouts, which we use
to get the available geometry. Since by definition, the available
geometry should always be inside the screen geometry, it is safe to
use the maximum of the two sizes.

When drawing QGlyphRun objects through QPainter the QFont passed in
QStaticTextItem/QTextItem is not properly initialized with the correct
size, weight, style strategy etc. Shuffle things around so we always go
through QFontEngine for font data, as that should be more reliable.

Use of this was removed from QtWayland quite a long time ago, which was the only
public user of this API.
Furthermore, it isn't easily possible to implement any use of this API without
full control of the graphics stack (a very rare occurrence) and there is no
public demonstration of this.
There is ongoing research to provide a better replacement for this in the form
of QPlatformHardwareCompositor.

After the last ANGLE upgrade, some hardware fails to render proper
QtQuick scenes when using a depth buffer (which is present in the default
window format). As the batched renderer no longer requires a depth

While we will cover the entire surface with our textured quads, the clear
is still necessary in order to make top-levels with TranslucentBackground
render correctly: We don't want to blend transparent areas with undefined
content that is in the surface's framebuffer.
Blending is problematic for alpha values. We now prevent the blended alpha
from being written out. This ensures that in examples like qquickviewcomparison,
where the backingstore image contains an alpha of 0.5 while the QQuickWidget
texture 1.0, the result is still an alpha value of 1.0 in the final image.
Writing out an alpha of 0.5 would break on systems where windows get an alpha
buffer by default.
hellogl2 can now take a --transparent parameter which makes the QOpenGLWidget
being cleared to transparent in order to verify it works in combination
with Qt::WA_TranslucentBackground.
The swapped red and blue problem is also corrected. RGBA8888 does not need
swizzling. The only format that needs this is RGB32.

QExposeEvent::region() reports a region in a random coordinate system.
The behavior is undocumented and the platform plugins do different things.
xcb, offscreen and ios are correct. These set the region in local coordinates,
which is the most logical interpretation of the expose region.
windows is almost correct, except for one occurrence.
cocoa and others need changes: passing in geometry() as the exposed region is
always wrong.
The patch documents the expected behavior both for QExposeEvent and
internally in QWindowSystemInterface. The problematic plugins are fixed to
use local coordinates.

Windows Phone didn't handle the base color enums well, and ARM was
getting incorrect colors due to different byte ordering. So, use the
Phone-specific enums where applicable and pass in the proper char sequence

We introduce QPlatformFontDatabase::isPrivateFontFamily() to allow
testing for private, system UI font families. Both QFontComboBox
and QFontDialog need to filter out those private font families
which, by definition, should be hidden from the end user.
(The textedit example had to be updated to fix the issue where the
default font would be private. In 5.4, we will be adding an equivalent,
public API in QFontDatabase, and a better solution for the textedit
example and QTexEdit in general).
In particular, on OS X and iOS, private fonts are used for the system
UI font. Those have their font family name prefixed by a dot.
QCoreTextFontDatabase knows about this, and makes sure those are
tested positive as private font families. In order to have a cleaner
layer separation, we moved the QPA theme font resolution from the
platform theme classes into QCoreTextFontDatabase for both Cocoa and
iOS QPA plugins.
In both cases, we use CoreText's CTFontCreateUIFontForLanguage(), that
nicely maps to the HITheme API we were using so far on Mac. That means
one HITheme dependency less. We also cache the font descriptors we get
for these font for each time QCTFD::populateFamilies() gets called.
(While not common, this currently happens in auto-tests, like
tst_QFontDatabase, and could happen in actual applications -- specially
when adding and removing application fonts.)

The native Windows Runtime file picker is required to support picking
of any file/folder from the system. Due to platform security restrictions,
the non-native file dialog is effectively useless when outside of the
application's installation or local storage directories.
This adds a QPA implementation for the WinRT file picker, as well as
a simple file system engine to handle files which were opened by the
picker. This necessary for platform security reasons, as it is not
possible to open files from arbitrary paths - only file handles opened by
the picker can be used, so these are kept inside this file system engine
and acted upon when a known path is observed.
The file system engine is only instantiated when needed, and may prove
useful for other areas of Qt (such as known folders/standard paths) which
must operate on a virtual file rather than an absolute path.

In some language, mnemonics put after label text within parentheses.
e.g. "&Open" is translated to "開く(&O)" in Japanese.
OS X doesn't use mnemonics and '&' in label text is removed.
Mnemonics in parentheses (and spaces before them) also should be removed.

Thanks to new features in ANGLE, the backing store implementation
complexity can be greatly reduced. By using ES3 framebuffer blit,
no shader code is required, and the shader loading code and blit shader
can be removed.

When we create fallback fonts, we copy the fontdef of the main font, but
we need to update the family name to match reality, otherwise a QRawFont
created with the font engine will have the wrong family name. This is
already done in the default implementation of loadEngine(), but was missing
from the Windows implementation.
One large consequence of this was that when the distance field renderer
cloned the font engine (to change its size), it would clone it with the
wrong family name. When it later painted its glyph indexes, they would
of course refer to the wrong font (the fallback) so random characters
would appear.

in the case of text rendering in Qt Quick.

The docs for gtk_file_chooser_set_filename explain that if a file is
new, we should call gtk_file_chooser_set_current_name instead.
(But in that case it is necessary to set the directory separately.)
Qt doesn't make a distinction between a save dialog for saving a
new file vs. a dialog for re-saving an existing file, so it seems this
is the better way to do it all the time, since a save dialog would
most often be used for saving a new file.

QWindowsDragCursorWindow is a helper window used to display the drag
cursor when doing DnD by touch, in which case Windows hides the mouse
cursor. Base it on QRasterWindow and fix the size calculation for
device pixel ratio scaling.

DRI2 clients don't receive GLXBufferSwapComplete events on the wire.
Instead the event is synthesized by the DRI2 WireToEvent handler,
so for an application to be able to see it we have to convert the
synthetic event to an xcb_glx_buffer_swap_complete_event_t and pass
it to the native event filter.

On WP8.0, setting auto rotation preferences at runtime worked like an
orientation update mask, and did not modify the behavior of the window.
With WP8.1, setting auto rotation preferences has the side effect that the
compositor will then resize the window when moving from e.g. portrait to
landscape. Because of this, the auto rotation API should not be called
inside orientationUpdateMask(). The default implementation is now
sufficient, so the platform override is removed.
Developers looking to set auto rotation preferences should use the
application manifest or call the native api directly.

Currently, the physical size of the screen is calculated with the
logicalSize and the logicalDpi of the screen. This doesn't work because
logicalDpi has a user-defined multiplier and a strange value.
The easiest and accuratest way is to take the raw dpi of the axis and
the raw pixel size (logicalSize*scaleFactor).
This all is needed for a correct value
of Screen.pixelDensity in QtQuick.

This partially reverts eea02ff1 in that devicePixelRatio() will now
always return 1. This is because non-integer ratios are bound to cause
problems with pixel alignments, and their use prevents users from
accessing the complete pixel grid in Qt Quick. Now, the full physical
resolution of the screen/window is reported instead.
The EGL initialization is adjusted to match requirements for ANGLE 2.1.

This patch adds the option to disable subpixel antialiasing on QFont
basis. This can be useful when painting to offscreen surfaces. On OS X
this option disables the aggressive LCD font smoothing, which can be
necessary for certain fonts it may otherwise ruin.

because they are sent using appcommand events instead of the normal key
events.

Issuing a metacall from swapBuffers is dangerous since the window
may get destroyed by the time the slot is invoked.
This patch changes it to use an event, which is more efficient anyway,
that can be invalidated in case the QXcbWindow is destroy()'ed before
the event is delivered.

When an application is suspended on Android all its Gl surfaces
are destroyed and can't be used to render anymore, so we should
release them in order to give back to the system the memory used
by them.

The main event loop will be paused when an application is suspended,
this is also the normal behavior of any Android application. When an
application is suspended on Android all its Gl surfaces are destroyed
and can't be used to render anymore. So, we need to pause the main
event loop in order to pause all the timers which might trigger
drawings. The event loop is resumed immediately after the application
is foreground. AndroidManifest.xml contains more info about how to
disable this behavior and what might happen if you do it.

When the user holds the Wacom Art Pen straight, rotation is zero;
when turning it counter-clockwise, it should have a negative angle,
whereas the driver sends a positive angle;
when turning it clockwise it should have a positive angle up to 180,
whereas the driver sends 360 going downwards towards 180.
These corrections make the angle reading consistent between Linux,
Windows and OS X.

The driver sends values in the range 0..1, but we want the "center"
value to be 0. This correction makes tangentialPressure consistent
between Linux, Windows and OS X.
